Thirty six intact and hypophysectomized rats were treated with acupuncture or moxibustion, 3 times on each site: “Chukan”, “Shinchu” and “Jinyu”.Three hours after the treatment eosinophil leucocyte counts in peripheral blood, adrenal weight, adrenal ascorbic acid and cholesterol contents of the animals were determined.Results obtained were as follows.1) In the intact group, both treatments decreased eosinophil counts remarkably but adrenal weight was not significantly influenced.A considerable diminution in ascorbic acid content was seen in the group of acupuncture but a decrease in cholesterol content proved rather remarkable in the group of moxibustion.2) Even in the hypophysectomized animals following results were observed: eosinophil leucocytes decreased slightly after acupuncture, adrenal weight showed a tendency to decrease, ascorbic acid and cholesterol were diminished by both treatments, especially by acupuncture.3) From these experiments it was concluded that acupuncture was more effective to stimulate the adrenals than moxibustion under the above mentioned erprimental condition.4) The authors proved that acupuncture and moxibustion could influence the adrenals even not via pituitary.

NTTでは, クリーンなエネルギー源である燃料電池を通信用エネルギーシステムに適用する「燃料電池卜ータルエネルギーシステム」の研究開発を進めている. 通信用給電システムでは商用電源が停電した場合でも通信用負荷へ安定に電力を供給するため予備電源を設置している. 今回, 燃料電池を平常時は商用電源と連系して常用発電装置として用い、商用電源停電時にはエンジン発電機と連系して予備電源として用いる給電システムの制御法について報告する.

1995年兵庫県南部地震は都市機能を支えるライフラインに多大な被害を与えた. ライフライン被害の相互連鎖は, 既往の震災事例をはるかに超え, 明らかに質の異なるものとなった. 本報告では, 断水が他のライフライン (電気, ガス, 下水道) や医療機関の機能および消火活動や廃棄物焼却施設などに及ぼした影響について述べる. 差し水によるガスの復旧の遅れ, 冷却水や工業用水道の供給停止による発電などへの影響や消火用水の多様な確保策がわかった. さらに, 意外に少なかった通電火災, 復電による通水の状況, 水道の回復が下水道の機能に与えた影響や医療に不可欠な水道の役割などが定量的に明らかになった.

We develop an output simulator for a baseball-type acceleration sensor in which one three-axis sensor for low acceleration and three sensors for high acceleration are installed. The acceleration vector at any position inside this ball-type sensor in rotational motion is formulated on the basis of the assumption that all the sensors are in rigid configuration. Since this simulator can estimate kinematically the acceleration under the change in time of rotation axis on the sensor coordinate system, we investigate the behavior of the rotation axis suggested in the previous flight experiment. In order to confirm the accuracy of the sensor outputs, preliminary experiment is performed, in which acceleration outputs are measured by rolling the ball-type sensor along a slope. The comparison of obtained acceleration outputs with theoretical values shows sufficient agreement. At the same time, the moment of inertia of the ball-type sensor is measured. Sensor outputs are simulated under two different conditions, in one of which the rotation axis is changing in time and the axis is fixed in the other. As the result, the acceleration output in the former condition varies linearly while the output keeps almost constant in the latter. The measured outputs of the flight experiment successfully reappear in the results under the former condition. The error between the simulated and measured outputs is calculated to 18 trial data of straight and curve balls, and the errors in the former condition become smaller than those in the latter. The present result therefore concludes that the rotation axis of the ball-type sensor in flight changes with time.

In this study, response spectra of long-period earthquake ground motion (approximately from 5 to 15 seconds) at several cities in northern part of Japan due to Nihonkai-chubu Earthquake 1983 are estimated from sloshing height of oil storage tanks and recorded data of acceleration and displacement type strong motion seismographs. Especially in Niigata city which is about 270km away from the epicenter, very high sloshing is observed, from which equivalent velocity response spectrum is predicted to be more than 200 kine for 10 seconds structures with 0.1% damping. Mended and corrected displacement and acceleration. type strong motion seismograms are found to give much higher response spectra than design values for long period (5-10 seconds) structures with 2-5% damping.

Spring of 1978 has come with the thunderstorm. After the storm, there was a blue sky. If the spring storm is an announcement spring seasons and end of winter, people can withstand the storm, however, natural phenomenon sometimes be very violent.Economist Kenneth E. Boulding has discussed "Limit exists in the Spaceship Earth" as a metaphor for the common destiny in his book "The Economics of the Coming Spaceship Earth" (1966).For the Spaceship Earth to reach mature society, there are many issues and difficulties need to be overcome. Can we expect the mature society after the spring storm for the crew of the Spaceship Earth? What are the fundamental issues and difficulties exist in the mature society?This paper is a study on this subject of "reality and problems of 1978 society".

複数地点で観測値が与えられた条件付対数正規確率場において, 不偏推定・最小誤差共分散規範に基づく Kriging 法と条件付確率密度関数法には固有な差があるのであろうか. この疑問に答えるため, 前者から導いた最適推定値, 推定誤差共分散, 後者からの条件付平均値, 条件付共分散の検討結果ならびに数値分析の結果, 1) 最適推定値と条件付平均値は完全に一致すること, 2) 推定誤差共分散は条件付共分散と異なること, 3) 推定誤差共分散は観測位置のみに依存し, 観測値に無関係であるが, 条件付共分散は観測値に依存すること, 4) 推定誤差共分散は条件付シミュレーションに関与しないことが見出された. 2つの方法は正規確率場において完全に等価であるが, ここで指摘した知見は条件付正規確率場とは異なる性質である.

各種産業の工場では,有機性排水を活性汚泥法により処理している。その際の活性スラッジの成分は,ズーグレア,ワムシ,原生動物から成りたっている。したがって,生物処理スラッジの主体は,蛋白質で,有機質肥料として活用出来るものである。著者らは,スラッジの肥効を,ノイバウエル幼植物試験法,土壌中の無機化分解実験(砂質または粘土質土壌使用)および排水の消化工程で添加される凝集剤の影響テストにより検討した。さらに,活性スラッジの芝草に対する肥効と土壌改良性を,市販の類似資材と比較して調査を行なった。結果のまとめ(1)活性スラッジは,なたね油粕やニシン荒粕と同よう,緩効性の肥効を示し,かつまた,油粕施用時の生育障害を認めなかった。(2)凝集剤の添加は,一般に発芽率を稍低下させ,また無機凝集剤の中で,消石灰がリン酸の肥効に最も悪い影響を与えた。(3)芝草に対する活性スラッジの肥効は,その地上部より地下部によく現れる。(4)芝生への活性スラッジの施用は,踏圧による土壌の硬化を軽減する。(昭和48年10月21日,日本造園学秋季大会発表)

With the increase in recording density and higher rotation speeds, the aerodynamic aspect of HDD (Hard Disk Drives) is now quite significant. We studied the internal air flow of a HDD by using a direct neumerical simulation. We simulated two cases. The first case has the arm with no weight saving hole (no-hole case). The second case has the arm with weight saving hole (hole case). We observed periodic vortices (Karman's vortex) of which frequency is about 6kHz in the downstream of the arm in both cases. The scale of vortex in hole case is lager than that in no-hole case.
