「ブラックバイト」が社会問題化している。こうした職場では,本人の意思を尊重せずに過重な仕事や責任を課せられている。さらには,命令に従わない学生たちが脅されるような問題も起きている。だが,そこで寄せられる学生たちの声の多くは,「自分は仕事を辞めることができるか」というものだ。NPOや労働組合,弁護士らは,単に彼らを辞めさせるだけでなく,労働問題の解決をもたらす支援が必要とされている。

This article critically examines the ontological commitment on which modern folkloristic studies of yokai (a category of mysterious creatures in Japanese tradition) have been established. Academic yokai scholars have assumed that yokai are supernatural beings and that yokai do not exist in mundane form. However, the adequacy of these assumptions when studying the world of people who does not share the same ontological framework as modern scholars has hitherto been of little concern in yokai studies. Through critically examining the discourses and theories that have dominated yokai studies, this article suggests that researchers have failed to understand the perspective of folk who recognize and co-inhabited with yokai.Why have yokai studies assumed this ontological commitment? There is a historical process continuing from the late Edo period on in which intellectuals and urbanites increasingly assumed what is now called yokai to be supernatural and unreal. At the turn of nineteenth century, some scholars who sought to affirm the reality of yokai began to juxtapose the supernatural realm against the backdrop of the rise of modern scientific empiricism in Japan. Furthermore, the presumed supernatural essence of yokai was a perspective that had also slowly been adopted by disbelieving researchers. This article conceives this process as an epistemological rupture by which researchers can only understand different worlds or ontologies through the ontological framework generated after the rupture. This article proposes a "plural ontology" model that makes it possible for researchers to understand the diverse worlds in which people recognize yokai.

This study aims to verify the hypothesized intrapersonal process, grounded in the activity theory of aging, whereby the activities of elderly people at Japan's Silver Human Resource Centers have a positive impact on their life satisfaction by developing a positive role identity and self-esteem. For this purpose, a survey was conducted among 279 elderly people belonging to the Silver Human Resource Center of I City. Path analysis showed significant relationships between frequency of activities at the center and role identity as a worker at the center, role identity and self-esteem, and self-esteem and life satisfaction. The findings validate the activity theory of aging.

Trustworthiness can be judged through smiles, because smiling is difficult to fake. On the other hand, linguistic information, which is easier to fake, is also a signal of a person's trustworthiness; persons claiming to be trustworthy will probably be punished if their lie is exposed. We examined the punishments given to unfair persons who expressed their trustworthiness through linguistic information or facial expressions. In the experiment, all the participants played the Trust Game, wherein they were assigned as donors; 67 participants in Experiment 1 were exposed to their partner's linguistic information (responses to the questionnaire: trustworthy/neutral), and 100 participants in Experiment 2 were shown their partner's face (smile/no smile). They then decided the amount of endowment to give to their partners. After hearing their partner's decision (regarding fair/unfair allocation), they had an opportunity to punish an unfair partner and deduct money from the partner's share. Results show that liars caught through linguistic information were punished severely, but those caught through facial expressions were not. The different mechanisms between processing linguistic information and facial expressions were discussed.

携帯電話やPDAに代表されるように,近年の組込み機器は非常に高機能化してきている.それに伴い,組込み機器を制御するOSに対する要求も日々拡大してきている.しかし,既存のOSでは高機能化した組込み機器に求められる高信頼性,応答性,拡張性などを十分に提供できないのが現状である.本研究では,そのような組込み機器においても十分な仕組みを提供することが可能なOSを研究,開発していく上で必要な知識や技術を習得するために,必要最低限の機能を提供するOS/161を組込み向けプロセッサであるARMへ移植し,未実装部分の実装を行った.また,OSのパフォーマンス向上を目的として,プログラム実行時におけるオーバヘッドを明らかにした.その上で,オーバヘッドとなる部分の改良を行い,パフォーマンスの向上を実現した.
