A series of 4-aryl-4,7-dihydrothieno[2,3-b]pyridine-5-carboxylate derivatives (I) was synthesized and tested for binding affinity to Ca^<2+> channels in rat cerebral cortex membranes, coronary vasodilator effect in isolated guinea pig hearts, and antihypertensive activity in spontaneously hypertensive rats. Several compounds had potent coronary vasodilator and antihyper tensive activities. The structure-activity relationships of the series indicated that a lipophilic 3-alkyl substituent with moderate bulkiness was effective for enhancing the pharmacological potencies. Among them, methyl 4,7-dihydro-3-isobutyl-6-methyl-4-(3-nitrophenyl)thieno[2,3-b]-pyridine-5-carboxylate (S-312) was selected as a promising cardiovascular agent. The relationship between the absolute configuration of S-312 and its biological activities is also presented.

明治期のわが国の鉄道用橋梁として主力を占めたものは、プレートガーダー (鈑桁) であって、径間15ftから80ftに至る領域は、これが主力を占めており、早くから標準設計 (定規と称した) が確立していた。しかしながら、その中でも主力を占める官鉄に関するものはかなり詳細が解っていたが、それ以外の私設鉄道のものや、全部を通じての架設状況などは系統的な記録に乏しい。そこで、かなり現物が減少してきたとはいえまだそれが存在するうちに、実証的な裏付けをもとに一連の研究を行って行きたいと考えるもので、今回はその導入部とし概説を述べるものである。

<p><b>目的</b> : Somatic Symptom Scale-8 (SSS-8) は, 身体症状による負担感を評価する自記式の質問票である. 今回, SSS-8をわが国へ導入するため, 原作の英語版を翻訳し, 言語的妥当性を担保した日本語版を作成した.  <b>方法</b> : 原作者から日本語版作成の許可を得た後, 言語的に妥当な翻訳版を作成する際に標準的に用いられる手順 (順翻訳→逆翻訳→患者調査) に従って日本語版を作成した.  <b>結果</b> : 日本語を母国語とする2名の翻訳者が, それぞれ日本語に翻訳し, 一つの翻訳案にまとめた [順翻訳] . 英語を母国語とする翻訳者が日本語案を英語に翻訳し直した [逆翻訳] . 次に, 原作者との協議を通じ, 原作版と日本語案の概念の整合性を確認し, 日本語暫定版を作成した. 筋骨格系疼痛および身体症状の経験を有す患者5名 (男性2名, 女性3名 ; 平均年齢54.4歳) に調査を行った結果, 全体として, 日本語暫定版の表現に問題はないと判断した.  <b>結論</b> : 一連の過程を経て, 言語的妥当性が担保された日本語版SSS-8を確定した.</p>

Is the burden of debt financed public expenditure shifted to future generations, or not? This was the main issue in the so called "public debt burden dispute", which took place during the period from the second half of 1950's to the first half of 1960's. J. M. Buchanan challanged the Keynesian proposition that the choice of financing methods between tax and debt brings about no difference in resource amount available for the privatesector, and that the burden, therefore, arises at the time of the expenditure and could not be shifted to future generations.<BR>The dispute was furious and produced various suggestions. Some of the participants in the dispute maintained that the shifting of the burden does occur and some others said it doesn't. However, it ended up unsettled without any theoretical consolidation. Reviewing the issue at the present time, it seems possible to give a more consistent and reconcilatory understanding to the main controversial points. The use of the framework of inter-temporal consumption model makes this possible. This framework has now become our common analitical tool but it wasn't at that time.<BR>The essential point is that public debt finance gives rise to the transfer of personal disposable wealth from future generations to present generation. This is also a very important point to understand the imprications of recent criticisms against Keynesian policy raised from the two different directions both, the Public Choice Group, the leader of which is J. M. Buchanan, and the Rational Expectationists, one of representatives of which is R. J. Barro.

Guo Moruo, prior to coming to Japan in 1914, got married with a woman his parents had determined. He could not feel affection for his wife, and engaged in free love with Sato Tomi, a Japanese woman he met after coming to Japan, leading to marriage with her out of legal system.It should have been a longed love and an ideal marriage for Guo Moruo who experienced love only after coming to Japan. Nevertheless, upon going beyond Platonic relations, their love turned something undutiful and inadmissible to him because he could not give his virginity in spite of destroying her virginity. As a consequence, many of his love poems somehow cast a dark shadow.Young men in the intellectual class of Japan at that time were supposed to be going to live a life as an elite bearing the destiny of the state on his shoulders. However, as a matter of fact, they agonized about their love in connection with their family (parents) rather than about the connection between an individual and the state. The self of Guo Moruo awakened in Japan was that of Chinese students, nevertheless, it was the same agony among young men in Japanese intellectual class in the Taisho Era. Guo Moruo agonized in the Taisho Era in Japan about the issues concerning family and concerning an individual. Guo Moruo performed creative activities amid such agony, resulting in love with his sweetheart accompanying something unpleasant, which influenced on his works noticeably.
