We measured the gonial angle (GA) on panoramic radiography (PR) and analyzed the correlation between the GA on PR and lateral cephalometric radiography (LCR). In total, 49 PR films and LCR films from dentate young adults were evaluated. Orthodontists plotted four points (articulare, menton, posterior gonion, and lower gonion) on the PR and carefully traced them. Using a protractor, two radiologists measured the GA on LCR images. A simultaneous experimental study of two dry skulls was performed to compare the GA on LCR and PR. The GA was slightly smaller on the PR of the dry mandible than on the LCR and tended to decrease continuously with magnitude toward the Frankfort horizontal plane. The mean GA was 115.1 ± 5.2° on PR and 122.2 ± 6.4° on the LCR. The values were highly correlated (Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, 0.801). The GA on PR was nonsignificantly smaller than that measured on LCR. The difference may be due to head position, the inclination angle of the mandibular body, and/or the direction of the incident X-ray beam. (J Oral Sci 57, 373-378, 2015)

A 79-year-old man on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) developed abdominal pain and cloudy peritoneal fluid two days after colonoscopy that revealed multiple diverticula. The white blood cell count was 9,000 cells/μL, C-reactive protein level was 6.86 mg/dL, and the white blood cell count of the peritoneal fluid was 7,800 cells/μL, suggesting acute peritonitis. Empiric therapy consisting of cefazolin and ceftazidime slowly improved the patient's symptoms. The initial microbiological examination of the peritoneal fluid demonstrated Morganella morganii. He was changed from CAPD to hemodialysis. It is important to consider M. morganii peritonitis in patients with colonic diverticula.

これまで,縄文文化には複数の栽培植物アサ(アサ属Cannabis),エゴマ(シソ属Perilla),ヒョウタン(ユウガオ属Lagenaria),クリ(クリ属Castanea)等の存在が知られていた.しかし,最近のフローテーション法の採用による炭化植物種子の検出,イネのプラントオパール抽出などの考古植物学的な調査によれば,縄文文化前期~中期前半の層準から東日本ではヒエ(Echinochloa)が,西日本にはイネ(Oryza sativa)が検出される.これらイネ科Gramineae植物の出現や文化的な背景には,まだ不明の部分が多い.しかし,ヒエは東日本で栽培化が行われた可能性があり,イネはアジア大陸とその周辺部から渡来してきた,と考えられる.また,縄文時代に存在するといわれていたリョクトウVigna radiata (L.) Wilczekについては,まだ確実な資料は発見されていない.

本稿では歩行センシングデータから高精度に3次元歩行軌跡を推定する手法を提案する.使用するセンサは加速度・角速度・気圧の3種類であり,詳細な建物構造情報を必要としない.装着型センサを用いた行動推定において,センサ信号の変化が少ない状態が継続している区間の検出は,センサ信号が短時間に大きく変化する区間を直接検出するよりも高い精度を期待できる.本稿ではこのような区間を安定センシング区間と定義し,そのコンセプトの適用例として,角速度センサを用いた安定歩行区間検出に基づく進行方向推定と,気圧センサを用いた安定フロア区間検出に基づくフロア間移動推定を行う.さらにそれら推定情報を統合して3次元歩行軌跡を求める.屋内歩行センシングコーパスHASC-IPSCを用いた評価実験の結果,進行方向推定,フロア間移動推定ともに,大きな変化量を直接推定する手法よりも高い精度を達成できた.最終的な3次元歩行軌跡推定の誤差蓄積速度は,10秒間の移動の間に1mの誤差が蓄積する程度であることが確認された.

The reproductive strategy of the parasitic isopod Onisocryptus ovalis in the luminescent ostracod Vargula hilgendorfii was studied at a beach in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, and in the laboratory, mainly from April 2000 to May 2001. Onisocryptus ovalis is a protandrous hermaphroditic species and changes from a mobile male to an immobile female that loses most of its appendages and has a sack-like body. Male parasites O. ovalis invade female hosts V. hilgendorfii, eat the host eggs, change sex, produce eggs, and die after the eggs have hatched. Some parasites invade immature or male hosts, but move to female hosts immediately afterwards. The percentage of hosts parasitized by O. ovalis was low (0-18%) from summer to autumn, but increased greatly (28-91%) from winter to spring mainly because of a shortage of hosts. Usually, one or two male parasites were found in a host, and only one male of them changed sex. From winter to spring, however, up to 8 male parasites were found in a host and a maximum of five changed sex. The most adaptive parasitic strategy of O. ovalis seems to fertilize eggs as a male as many times as possible, and then to produce more eggs as the only female in a host, although these parameters are not available at present.

特定の話題に対する感情は情報発信者によって異なるため,その話題の検索結果には様々な感情で書かれたWebページが混在する.また,話題に対する情報発信者の感情は1つとは限らないため,複数の感情を持って書かれたWebページが存在する.Webページに含まれている情報発信者の感情は読み手が受ける印象に影響を与えるため,特定の感情で書かれたWebページばかりが提示されると話題に対する多様な感情を把握できず,読み手はその話題について偏った印象を持ってしまう.本論文では,検索ワードに対する情報発信者の感情の多様性を考慮したWebページ検索・提示システムを提案する.本システムでは,まず,検索ワードで検索されたWebページにおける情報発信者の感情を取得するために,既存の感情辞書を用いて3軸(軸1:「楽しい ⇔ 悲しい」,軸2:「うれしい ⇔ 怒り」,軸3:「のどか ⇔ 緊迫」)に基づく感情値を算出する.次に,話題に対する情報発信者の感情を網羅するようなWebページを検索するために,特定の感情を有するWebページから抽出した補間語を用いて再検索する.最後に,検索結果として3次元の感情マップとして感情の分布を可視化する.提案手法の有用性を検証するために,既存手法と提案手法による検索結果の感情分布の相対的な広がりを比較評価する.また,抽出した検索ワードの話題性および感情値の適合性,ならびに再検索結果から取捨選択し統合した検索結果の適合性を評価する.

We have investigated the thermoelectric power of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with an ionic liquid (IL). The SWCNT/IL films showed simultaneous increase in electrical conductivity and the Seebeck coefficient compared with the pristine SWCNT. No thermoelectric power was observed for the IL. The X-ray diffraction pattern and impedance diagram showed a unique behavior with the concentration of IL, which implies that the interaction between the SWCNTs and IL enhances the thermoelectric power of the SWCNTs. As a result of the simultaneous increase in these parameters, the power factor exhibited a 10-fold increase.
