Do case studies have broader significance than mere description of a particular event or incidence? How can they be applied to other cases? These are the challenges that most fieldworkers dealing with a small sample face. Small-N studies are often ranked lower in terms of scientific rigor in comparison to Large-N studies and laboratory experiments. However, if appropriately conducted, case studies can reveal processes and mechanisms that large scale statistical analysis often cannot. In other words, in close contacts with the data source and in-depth understanding of the contexts would allow case studies to generate observations with high validity. This is primarily due to its flexible and “grounded” nature of qualitative research. On the other hand, additional effort is needed to enhance their reliability, i.e., increasing the transparency of data sources and collection methods; establishing external linkages with larger issues beyond the boundary of selected samples; and cross checking with quantitative data. Qualitative case studies can provide valid results to questions concerning processes and mechanisms, that are often vital to understanding how development operates. This strength should be explicitly stressed while their possible weaknesses in reliability should also be recognized. One way in which various disciplines related to development can communicate with each other is to discuss methods for analysis in comparative perspective. This should help uplift the academic quality of development studies in general.

本研究では、アスペルガー障害をもつ不登校中学生に対して、社会的相互作用の改善を目指した社会的スキル訓練(SST)が実施された。対象生徒の社会的相互作用に対して行動分析を行った結果、反応型としての社会的スキルをもっているものの、周囲の刺激を弁別刺激として適切に反応できていないために相互作用として機能していない、と分析された。そこで、他者の刺激に適切に反応することにより、社会的相互作用の改善が可能となると仮説をたて、そのようなスキルを形成することを目的としたSSTを実施した。 SST実施に当たっては、対象生徒が興味をもつような訓練場面(推理ゲーム)を設定し、その中でのやりとりを通して訓練が行われた。その結果、訓練場面における標的行動の生起率が増え、自由場面における社会的相互作用にも改善が確認された。これらの結果から、アセスメントおよび介入の妥当性が考察された。

L, A.cerca di individuare un filone del linguaggio della critica d'arte nella storia della lingua moderna italiana, analizzando i vari aspetti linguistici rilevanti negli scritti di alcuni autori in questo campo. L'A.mette in rilievo l'importanza capitale dll'influenza esercitata dall'estetica crociana sulla critica d'arte : si tratta del problema della valutazione estetica delle opere d'arte non solo nel campo della critica d'arte contemporanea ma anche in quello degli studi della storia dell'arte. Questa tendenza non pote lasciare tracce indelibili anche al linguaggio usato come strumento della critica. Secondo l'analisi dell'A., le caratteristiche piu salienti, sono le metafore linguistiche tratte da altri campi, l'espressione astratta forse dovuta anche all'assemanticita dell' oggetto da criticare nel caso dell'arte contemporanea, per esempio il neologismo, causato dall'esigenza di trovare espressioni che possano esprimere adeguatamente i nuovi concetti.

小論文は第2次大戦後先進諸国における加速償却政策を比較研究したものである.加速償却政策は民間設備投資を効率的に増加させるもので,1960年代世界的に見られた高度経済成長に貢献した.小稿ではまず加速償却を定義づけ,さらに加速償却政策を歴史的に考察し,理論的側面を検討する.次に企業会計上減価償却が最近の所得課税メカニズムを通じてどのように加速効果をもたらすかを論ずる.本稿の主な課題として第2次大戦後の先進工業国における加速償却規定を比較研究する.最後に加速償却政策の経済的制約として企業会計上の取得原価主義を挙げる.

The present study was designed to investigate the effects of clothing skin pressures exerted by two different types of brassieres (a conventional higher skin-pressured brassiere and a newly devised low skin-pressured brassiere) on the autonomic nervous system (ANS) activity. Six healthy young women (22.8 ± 1.4 yrs.) with regular menstrual cycles participated in this study. The ANS activities were assessed by means of heart rate variability power spectral analysis. The skin pressures exerted by the brassieres were measured with an air-pack type contact surface pressure sensor at five different points. The total amount of clothing pressure, and the pressures at the center and the side regions of the brassieres were significantly greater in the high than in the low skin-pressured brassiere (Total 9816.1 ± 269.0 vs. 6436.8 ± 252.4 Pa, P<0.01; Center 2212.1 ± 336.3 vs. 353.8 ± 85.8 Pa, P<0.01; Side 2556.8 ± 316.1 vs. 1747.2 ± 199.2 Pa, P<0.05). Concerning the ANS activity, the Total power, and the very low frequency (VLF) and the high frequency (HF) components were significantly decreased in the high skin-pressured brassiere than those in the low skin-pressured brassiere (Total 531.6 ± 57.3 vs. 770.5 ± 54.2 ms2, P<0.01; VLF 60.7 ± 14.6 vs. 179.2 ± 38.1 ms2, P<0.05; HF 209.5 ± 33.2 vs. 283.2 ± 61.5 ms2, P<0.01). Our data indicate that the higher clothing pressures exerted by a conventional brassiere have a significant negative impact on the ANS activity, which is predominantly attributable to the significant decrease in the parasympathetic as well as the thermoregulatory sympathetic nerve activities. Since the ANS activity plays an important role in modulating the internal environment in the human body, excess clothing pressures caused by constricting types of foundation garments on the body would consequently undermine women's health.
