メタアナリシスとは,各研究の効果から普遍的な集団(母集団)での効果を推定するために各研究の効果を統合する統計学的手法である.メタアナリシスでは,サンプルサイズによらず各研究の結果を比較可能な形に変換した効果量(エフェクトサイズ)と呼ばれる指標を用いる.エフェクトサイズの統合は,各研究がどの程度確からしいか(標準誤差)に応じて重み付けをしてから平均する.重み付けの方法は「真の値はただ1つである」と仮定するfixed effect modelと,「真の値は幅があるもの」と考えるrandom-effects modelに分けられる.一般的にはrandom-effects modelのほうが保守的な結果になるため推奨される.本稿では,Yangらの論文を例として,エフェクトサイズの代表であるmean differenceとstandardized mean differenceの算出方法,結果の統合方法(fixed effect modelとrandom-effects model),統計学的異質性について解説する.

We propose quantized feature with angular displacement for pose-based activity recognition. We calculate a 3D joint angle from three postural coordinates. The angular displacement should be quantized since joint angle includes errors due to system noises and similar posture. To investigate appropriate features, we propose four kinds of quantization levels; binarization, ternarization, quaternarization, and quinarization. We apply quantized features in order to improve pose-based activity recognition with the UTKinect-Action Dataset. In the experiment, we show the appropriate feature for activity recognition. As the result, the ternarized feature achieves the highest recognition rate in average. The recognition rate of trials with ternarized feature is improved 2.4% to one with no-quantized feature, and 1.8% to conventional method.

The water level of PET bottle mineral waters sold on hot summer days seem to vary. This led us to simulate the high temperature condition (37℃) and examine the change in the quantity and quality of natural mineral water in unopened PET bottles. The results showed that approximately 1 g of water was lost per week when the bottle was kept unopened at 37℃. There was also a change in quality, due to precipitation of calcium carbonate, decline of hardness, and decrease of pH.

妊娠期における親密なパートナーからの暴力(Intimate partner violence:以下IPVと略)と産科合併症との関連について検討を行った.2019年2月から7月までに受診した妊婦のうち切迫早産や前期破水,胎児発育不全といった産科合併症のために母体胎児集中治療室に入院した69名と外来健診者355名を比較した.スクリーニングには女性に対する暴力スクリーニング尺度(VAWS)を用い,被害の陽性率は入院群では36.4%,外来健診群では23.4%と有意差を認めた(p=0.027).多変量解析において出産回数,全般性不安障害,早産既往,喫煙の有無で調整した後の入院群と外来健診群ではIPVは有意な単独要因として残らなかった.産科合併症のために入院した妊婦の3分の1がIPVの可能性があったという今回の結果から,妊婦および胎児の心身の健康上,潜在的なIPVを発見するためにスクリーニングを行うことは重要であると考えられた.

蒙古(関連)語は、複数の異なるタイプの文字群で記述されてきた。これらの文字群は、極めて複雑な正書法を持つため、文字コード化及び計算機処理化が進んでいなかった。特にこれらの文字群は、歴史的経緯により、縦書きと横書きでの混在処理が必要とされる。全世界の文字を分析し、一文字の定義と文字を構成する情報を得た。これにより複雑な正書法をもつ蒙古文字に最適な文字コードを決定することができた。この結果、国際化の一環として、蒙古文字を含む全ての文字の混在文書の、単一的機構による一般化した入出力・文書処理が可能となった。Mongolian related languages have been transcribed in different types of scripts which have complicated orthographies - such complexities have inhibited encoding into codesets and text manipulation on computer systems. And it is essential to mix those scripts in both vertical and horizontal directions particularly for historic reasons. Analyses of the scripts in the world have clarified the definition of one character and its constructive information, which made it possible to assign the optimal character codeset(s) for Mongolian scripts having complicated orthographies. As a result, mixed texts of any scripts including Mongolian ones were able to be given generalized I/O and Text Manipulation as internationalization.
本研究は第1に、ネットワーク・ワイドなMulti-Window Systemsに対応し、それらを国際化する機能モジュール群、すなわち、全文字コードの混在入出力、文字コード非依存の全文字コード混在テキスト処理、ISO 2022/6429を越える通信、Outline Fonts処理、実用に耐える速度と処理能力を持った実用システムとして開発すること目的とする。第2に、これらのモジュール群にMulti-Window SystemsやOSに依存しない高い移植性を持たせ、各種window Systemsに移植し、リアルタイム機能に対応する本格的な国際化マルチ・メディアの基礎ツールとしての実証と、実用システムとしての検証を目的とした。実際の研究としては、まず、全世界の文字の構造と情報交換用文字コードの調査と分類を行った。その結果、文字コードから、処理対象としての文字、文字から表示の二段階の変換を行うことによって、文字コードポイント数、文字、図形数が一致しない、現実の文字列の処理が可能となった。これをもとに、全世界の文字の混在が可能な、入力、出力、基本文書編集(挿入、削除、検索等)及び通信の各モジュール並びにOSへの移植用ライブラリーを作成することを目標として研究と開発を進めた。その結果、POSIXオペレーティング・システムとX Window Systemのスーパーセットとして動作するモジュール群を開発した。既開発の要素技術を基に、既に作成したフォントを用いての、国際化X Window System・ライブラリを開発した。文字コードの規格が存在しない歴史的文字を含む文字対応への検証のため、蒙古系文字群のコード化とフォントの作成を行なった。さらに、結合音節文字の一文字決定のルールを明確にした。その結果、高速な動作が実証され、地域化・国際化・多言語化の明確な定義とその統一モデルが得られた。さらに、蒙古系文字群への対応によって、歴史的文字を含め、適応範囲の広さと実用性を実証した。

A probability density function of demand for automated external defibrillators (AED's), which is based on the distribution of demand points by kernel density estimation method, is estimated from the data on occurrences of cardiopulmonary arrests. The probability that someone can be saved by AED's is formulated using probability of survival to hospital discharge. "Supply effect" is expressed as demand density multiplied by this probability of saving, and the locations of AED's are optimized by maximizing supply effect in the entire region. The results show that optimal locations tend to cover the center of the city and that the supply effect is approximately proportional to the number of AED's.

2010年代になり画像認識の精度が飛躍的に向上したことで「自然画像とは何だろうか?」そして「その画像カテゴリとは?」という問いがより重要になっている。本研究課題では自然の形成原理に即し能動的に生成した画像パターンとその画像カテゴリを教師ラベルとした機械学習方法を網羅的に探索することで両者の問いに迫る。さらに、従来の画像認識で問題とされていた人手による膨大な画像ダウンロードや画像カテゴリ付与が不要であるだけでなく、個人情報保護法や著作権法などに依らず大規模画像データベースを構築可能である。

【背景と目的】国内外を通し苦痛のスクリーニングの効果を検証した研究は少ない.今回兵庫県立尼崎総合医療センターにて化学療法導入時にスクリーニングを実施し,緩和ケア介入件数が増加するかを検討した.【方法】2018年2月から2019年1月に化学療法同意書を発行された患者を対象にスクリーニングを実施した.回帰不連続デザインを用いて導入前後の緩和ケアチーム介入件数の変化を評価した.スクリーニング回収率を算出し,回収に影響した因子についてロジスティック回帰分析にて評価した.【結果】チーム介入件数の変化の推定値は3.32件/月(95%CI: −3.19〜9.82)であった.回収率は月平均35.2(±7.94)%であり,回収有に関して診療科による差がみられた.【結論】当院で導入したスクリーニングでは緩和ケア介入件数の有意な増加は得られなかった.

Many crude drug products elicit a bitter taste, because there are a variety of bitter components in them. However, there are no good methods of masking their bitter taste. Therefore, new masking methods are widely required. As a general method to administer crude drug products to patients, they are dissolved in hot water or mixed in food or juice. However, there is a risk that patients may not want to eat the food if the crude drug products alter the taste of the food. In this study, we conducted a sensory evaluation including a questionnaire in order to examine the improvement effect on swallowing a crude drug product in food. The screening tests were carried out to reveal what kinds of foods could improve the taste and texture of the crude drug product by mixing them with 30 kinds of foods. In the screening test, a statistically significant effect was observed on masking bitter taste. Based on this screening test, the bitterness masking tests were carried out with 6 kinds of foods. As a result, a commercially available swallowing aid jelly, vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream, condensed milk, peanut cream, and seaweed tsukudani significantly reduced the bitterness of the crude drug product. The tastes of these foods are strong, so it is necessary for patients with sugar and salinity limitations to consider the usage of these foods. These foods are relatively inexpensive and easy to obtain. Therefore, they might be useful for patients to take medicines such as bitter crude drug products following the instructions of a physician.

本研究では,通常,周辺住民から好まれない施設である迷惑施設の配置計画について,距離に基づいた数理的な分析および評価を行うことを目的としている.施設立地の適性を考える際に「公平性」という概念に着目し,不平等度を計量する指標として知られるジニ係数を,住民から施設までの距離に適用したときの数理的把握を行い,その特性について明らかにした.また,清掃工場を想定したときに,「大気汚染」,「電波障害」などの施設立地に伴う,自然・社会的な諸条件に基づいた目的関数を用いた場合での,候補地比較に関する計量的評価法を提案した.以上の分析では,最適地についてのみならず,対象領域内の任意の地点での立地適性度を把握することで,候補地どうしを比較することが可能となること,および,計画の初期段階に要求されるような,複数候補地を挙げる際の手法としての有効性が示された.最後に,実際の配置計画をもとにして,最終的な用地決定に伴う決定要因の優先度の推測を行った.ここでは,各候補地の適性度の値を用いて,現状の施設位置と他の候補地とを比較し,より重視されたと考えられる項目に関する説明の妥当性を検証した.
