This paper clarifies actual condition and problems of district plan (DP) system of “article 12-5, (1)-2-RO” in city planning law from analyses of guidelines by prefectural government and all examples in Japan and concludes as follows:1. “RO DP” type is recognized as important tool against sprawl in many guidelines but has been hardly utilized so far. This is a big problem.2. “RO DP” type consists of mainly concrete 4 application types: environmental improvement type, type for extant settlements, type for roadside areas, disordered developments prevention type.3. Effects of “RO DP” type are composed of “I DP” type effect, which provides new areas of good conditioning grid, and “HA DP” type effect, which preserves extant rural fabric, besides“RO DP” type effect, which regulates areas of buildings and houses randomly dotted.

The main building of Old Tokyo Science Museum (The Nihonkan of National Museum Nature and Science at present) is a first real science museum which was build in Japan. Director Yasuji AKIHO established “Dynamic Museum” about the new museum design concept which was the conclusion that he researched western science museums. This museum building plan was designed on the Akiho's concept.Akiho's concept was mainly to capable to use museum facilities to activity of “Dynamic Museum”. It was the reason that Akiho intend to include to the lecture hall, library, laboratory, dining hall, because to activity of museum was not popular in Japan, and not understand it's importance. This museum planning concept was one mile stone of the Japanese museum building history.

Since people's awareness about the importance of energy conservation and recycling of materials has increased in recent years, various projects to build a recycling society have been initiated. In the field of architecture also, we are faced with the need to recycle resources and reduce environmental impact, by taking actions to utilize renewable resources. Therefore, we have directed our attention to the recycling of aluminum and wooden materials as renewable resources from the viewpoint of solving global environment issues. With this background, this paper proposes a composite structural column made of two different materials, aluminum and wood, in which wood is introduced into the aluminum box sectional member. Since aluminum material requires a step of anodized aluminum welding, it has been thought that utilization as a structural member was unlikely to spread. However, since the approach proposed in this paper does not necessitate such welding, this opens the possibility of using joint hardware pieces such as screws and bolts in the same manner as used when jointing construction members in steel structure construction and the timber frame method. Furthermore, with the use of a composite structural column as proposed by this paper, we conclude that the different materials of the composite structural column can make up for the drawbacks of each material, for example, controlling variations in bearing force in the timber and preventing local buckling in the aluminum. Through this study, we plan to verify, with loading tests, whether such a composite structural column which is made of an aluminum box section with a wood member inside, is actually applicable to utilization in the field, and from the test results obtained, to introduce a formula for evaluating bearing force to identify the characteristics and values in use for the composite structural column. We compared the characteristics of bending, shearing and compression of three specimens of an aluminum box section, a simple wood column and an aluminum-wood composite structural column, using pure bending tests, shearing tests, short column compression tests, and bending-buckling tests. By doing various experiments, we aimed to determine the structural characteristics of the composite structural column through comparison with the characteristics of a simple wood column to identify prospective application fields. From the results of the experiments, we determined the structural characteristics of a composite structural column which is composed of an aluminum box section with wood inside, and proposed a related bearing force evaluation formula. In comparing the composite structural column specimen with a simple wood specimen and a specimen of aluminum box section, we confirmed that the composite structural column has improved mechanical characteristics such as bearing force and deformation performance. This composite structural column was verified to have a sufficient performance for practical application in the field.

The purpose of this article is to clarify residents' attitudes toward social relationships in condominiums. We conducted questionnaire to residents who live in large scale condominiums, and clarified the following things. About 75 percent of respondents seek some relationships with other residents. The respondents who have children are more satisfied with their present relationships than those who don't have children. The respondents who don't seek relationships and who regard intimate relationships as important, tend to be satisfied with their present relationships. Social relationships in the large scale condominiums are not weak, but it doesn't spread into all residents.

Introduction The number of residences with thick insulation and air-tightness continues to increase in cold region. Ventilation loads cause over half of the heating load of such houses. In the previous report1), we developed a ventilation preheating system combining the solar thermal collector and the PCM panel shown in Fig. 1. We verified its performance with the experiment and numerical simulation. As the result, it is difficult to optimize the control system by a simple feedback system against ever-changing weather and indoor and outdoor environments. Therefore, in this research, we aim to develop a control method for a fan air volume of ventilation preheating system by machine learning. Initially, we outlined machine learning and reinforcement learning. Next, we explained how to introduce reinforcement learning in existing systems. Finally, we examined the performance of existing ventilation preheating system (VP system) and ventilation preheating system (RL system) controlled by reinforcement learning and examined the possibility of practical application.  Introduction of Reinforcement learning Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 shows the outline of reinforcement learning. We used the Q-Learning algorithm as the method of reinforcement learning. Fig. 4 shows the calculation process and simplified code of Q-Learning. The calculation formulas and algorithms were used to install reinforcement learning into the existing system. Fig. 6 shows a flowchart of the Q-Learning algorithm used in the calculation process in this study.  Control of ventilation preheating system with reinforcement learning We set the target schedule from October to March and prepared several cases of the operating periods and the air volume in VP system. We compared those results with the results operated by RL system. The findings obtained by this study are shown below. (1) As shown in Fig. 7 and 8, it was confirmed that the RL system automatically controlled the air flow of the fan. (2) As shown in Fig. 9, the RL system is equal to or higher than the performance of the VP system through the calculation period. Especially in the winter season, December to February, the performance of the RL system was the best in all cases. (3) Since reinforcement learning was successfully introduced. Also, the performance of RL system was better than the other cases, it is possible to study for practical application in the future.

Restoration policy for each project in this period was basically set up by preservationists at the Ministry of Education through historic investigation on original state of buildings. Chief preservationist at the Ministry, Ryonoshin Sakatani and his successor Minoru Ooka, tried to re-create original design as the concept of architectural preservation, restoring roof shape (often changed by posterior repairings) as a decisive aesthetical element to the overall architectural form. Their positivist academic research-not only on original buildings' form but on unexplained ancient carpenter's technique to make curved roof lines(Kikujutsu)-seemingly gave their idea a certain legitimacy. This architecture-oriented concept, opposed to historian's, was crystallized in Ooka's idea for the Horyuji Toin Denpodo restoration(1938-43) where nonetheless hostile objections its original roof was thoroughly reconstructed on account of preserving techniques of the Nara period such as the manner of projecting eave rafters(Hiendaruki).

Recently, use of deodorization equipment at garbage place in apartment buildings is increasing. However, its design method is not established due to lack of its test method and test data. Moreover, information on odor at the garbage place is lacking, and its source and ingredient is not clear. This study aims to establish the design method of deodorization equipment at garbage place. Odor at the garbage place is grasped, and the performance of the presently-used equipment was clarified by devised test method. The result showed that ozone deodorization equipment generally used is adequate to be positioned as complement to ventilation.

Ultimate behaviors of mechanically fastened shear type connections of thin stainless steel plates were investigated on the basis of quasi-static tensile test of 90 specimens. The specimens were formed from SUS 304 flat plates of 1.5mm and 3.0mm thickness and an SUS304 angle section of 3.0mm thickness, the connections of which were fastened by SUS 304 ordinary strength bolts of M12 and M16,and SUS 630 high-strength bolts of M12. Major observations are : four fracture modes, i.e., net section fracture, end opening fracture, block shear fracture, and fastener shear fracture were observed ; current design method has a difficulty in predicting the fracture mode which should take place among the four modes ; and current design formulae tend to overestimate the ultimate strength. From these facts, modified formulae for calculating the ultimate strength were proposed, which were found to provide a satisfactory prediction for failure mode and ultimate strength.

The oldest wooden temple in the world “Horyuji-Kondo” consists of a framework of interlocking members; cloud-shaped bracket sets, diagonal tail rafters, horizontal brackets and wooden dowels which construct triangular trusses together. The axial force effect has not been cleared yet, but the tension of tail rafters should be supported by horizontal pre-tensioned arms like a whole space-frame. We try to analize the structural system of the ancient temple 1300 years ago by the experiments of 1/2 scaled models.

This paper focuses on the Yamagataya department store in the city of Kagoshima, describing the characteristics of the location, the exterior of the building, and the background of the surrounding cityscape when the store first opened for business. Yamagataya succeeded in becoming central to Kagoshima's commercial life by inviting the streetcar company to run its tracks along the street adjacent to the store at the time of the switch to the department store format. By constructing a multistory ferroconcrete structure that was illuminated at night and featured large display windows, Yamagataya helped to create a modern cityscape.
