本稿は,建築家J.B.フィッシヤー・フォン・エルラッハ(1656-1705)の考案したシェーンブルン城第1案(1688)の建築モチーフの考察と,その形態構成表現の柱ともなる彫像作品群の象徴表現の解釈,即ち象徴性の意味関連を考察する事(イコノロギー解釈)を目的としている。既に前稿[I]で,この計画案の要素となる各建築形態が独立的モチーフであり,合成的表現によって,統一ある運動をもつ一つの全体として表現されていることを指摘した。本論では,この構成技法との関連性を踏まえて,建築モチーフの由来及び特色を考察し,またイコノロギー的表現においては,各彫像群の寓意的解釈に図版全体の幾何学的秩序を関係付けた象徴表現の分析をしている。即ちこの計画案の意味内容に,部分と全体との間の必然的統一関連性を求め,寓意像の存在理由に新たな解釈を加えようとするものである。本論では,この図全体の4つの段階ごとの集まりの分類化,つまり城郭部分,2つの庭園テラス部分,そして主要な彫刻作品のある最下層テラスに分け,分析することで,計画案の個々の造形物の由来と特徴を明らかにしようとした。その結果,この計画案が古代ローマのフォルテューナ神殿復原図,また従来,抽象的にしか指摘されていなかったフランスのサン・ジェルマン・アン・レーの影響を,形態構成分析の考察に基づき,より実証的にその直接的影響を指摘した。また彫像作品間に存在する幾何学的構成表現が,象徴表現となっていると云う筆者の指摘は,城郭上方の皇帝像が下層の4つの彫像群を放射状に支配すると云う構成に基づくものである。これは,太陽神に姿を借りた皇帝像が「世界支配」を象徴化していると云う指摘である。それは,この調和的統合表現によって,一つの観念形態を象徴化するイデオロギー表現の存在を意図したものであろう。最後に,この計画案のイコノロギー表現に関与していたとも云われる哲学者ライプニッツの「調和の哲学概念」の関連性を述べているが,前稿[I]の考察も含めこれは彼の哲学概念の視覚上の表現であると云う従来からの観念的指摘に対する,一つの実証的解釈の試みともなっている。

This study aims to clarify the change of enterchange structure by commutation in local urban region in order to gain some useful information to the merger of municipalities at present. Therefore, we selected Fukui Urban Region as the subject of this study. The main conclusions are as follows. 1) In Fukui Urban Region, the commutation pattern of 25 peripheral municipalities in 1965, 1975, 1985 and 2000, can be divided into 5 series and 12 types. 2) From 1965 to 2000, the commutation relationship among municipalities has become strong gradually. In 2000 six small-interchange-regions can been seen. 3) The merger of municipalities within smalHnterchange-region is common in Fukui Urban Region.

Recently, the importance of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) of cities based around railway stations is being emphasized. This study aims to evaluate and classify 152 railway station areas from the viewpoint of Transit-Oriented Development by analyzing the target areas located in a 30km circumference surrounding Central Tokyo. By using the Principal Component Analysis, 4 factors were consequently drawn to evaluate the railway station areas: 1)Integration of urban function, 2)Connection and serviceability of public transit, 3) Change-rate of urban function, 4)Urban self-reliance. As a result of typology, it is possible to classify seven types of railway station areas. Each type's characteristics and problems are clarified through the analysis.

A series of on-site experiments are conducted on the upward evacuation by escalator of groups of 50 subjects including 12 simulated aged people. Two escalators, 49.5m long and 22m tall one, and 12.3m long and 5.7m tall one with parallel stairs in a large convention facility in downtown Tokyo, were used. The experiments revealed the following.1. Upward walking velocity on a still escalator, 0.78-0.79m/s for normal subjects, is nearly identical with that on normal stairs.2. Upward walking velocity on an escalator running at 0.50m/s is reduced by 5-10% from that on a still escalator.3. Upward walking velocity is virtually independent from the distance from the entrance within the range of 22m in height for normal and simulated aged pedestrians in spite of the height and length of each step significantly larger than those of stairs.4. Effective flow coefficient at the entrance is around 1.15 persons/ms for a still escalator and 1.78p/ms for a one running at 0.50m/s.5. The effective flow coefficient at the entrance of an escalator is reduced by the increase of the escalator length for the local congestions generally seen in long escalators.

Dominican friar Agostino del Riccio (1541-98) was an ardent gardener who wrote agricultural theses on practical gardening and many other works about natural history. In one thesis, he projected an ideal garden for a sovereign, gathering many elements derived from contemporary gardens. These elements, which contained many natural objects, strongly reflected Riccio's interests about natural history. This study examins his ways of representing the natural world, and identifies parallel ways of representation in contemporary studies of natural history, recently termed Emblematic Natural History by history of science scholars.

We could trace back the building activities of emigrant carpenters from Echigo (present Niigata Prefecture) in Hokkaido since the seventeenth century to Meiji Era (1868-1912). After 1855 when the port of Hakodate was opened for foreign ships, there several large constructions fascinated many building workers including several capable carpenters from Echigo region. In early Meiji Era, the Kaitakushi (Colonial Department) gathered 51 carpenters in 1871 singularly from Maze, a tiny coastal village in Echigo, and next year 367 from Echigo for the constructions in Sapporo. Among them, and among those who emigrated after them, there were Kazaemon (c.1832-c.1892) and Yojiro (1864-1940) Shinoharas, Kyushiro Abe (1849-1910), Kametaro Ito (1863-1944) and others who founded their contractor companies of construction.

T. Matsugasaki, an architect retired from the special Architecture Bureau in 1888. However, he remained active for 15 years he worked as a designer at the Architect Design Office. One of Mr Matsugasaki's important works was the Bank of 77. He also was the architect for 17 other project one of which was the Goni Hall. He went to Taiwan in 1907 and he was employed by the Taiwan's National Railway, the Taipei and Taichu city governments as a part-time nonregular engineer and engaged in architectural design, Some of his prominent works in Taiwan include the Taiwan Railway Hotel, the Shintyu Station building and the Taipei West Gate Market which are still utilized today.

<p> This study examines the distribution of traditional houses with domical vault roofs in Eastern Iran and Western Afghanistan to determine its boundary as well as the factors that impact their distribution. High-resolution satellite images, old photographs and literature from Iran, and satellite images and data from field surveys in Afghanistan have been used to determine their distribution. The findings of the study include maps showing the distribution of traditional houses with domical vault roofs which suggest that climatic and cultural factors are significant in determining prevalent types of roofs.</p>

In the 16th to 17th century, there appeared the Sankai-gura, three-storied slim shape plastered storehouse (Dozo), in the city illustrations. A detailed comparative study of those illustrations revealed a similarity on roof structure between plastered storehouses, town houses and also early modern age castles. As I studied the plastered storehouse development, the Sankai-gura was evolved from interior store rooms in townhouses to independent exterior structures. This independence became one of a force to modify the city planning in middle age to early modern age.

When concrete is exposed to high temperature, its properties will deteriorate. Clarifying the property recovery extent of fire-damaged concrete and influencing factors, and developing improvement technology of property recovery are importance issues for repairing and strengthening concrete structure after suffered a fire. In this study, a series of concrete specimens with water-cement ratios of 50% and 35% were heated in an electric furnace at an elevated temperature in a range of 200-750°C. The recoveries of compressive strength, elastic modulus, and carbonation resistance after heated were investigated. We discussed the effects of strength grade of concrete before heated, heating temperature, cooling method, and recurring method and period on the recovery extents. Also, a kind of impregnating agent was used to improve the recovery extents. The experimental results clearly indicated that the use of impregnating agent could greatly promote the property recovery of heated concrete.

The aim of this study is to clarify the expression of measure comparing quantity in contemporary architecture. This expression is making comparison with the difference of quantity in each part of space in architecture by arrangement of building elements like a roof, wall, floor and ceiling. In this study, architectural plan and section are analyzed as several types of graph to examine the relationship between arrangement of building elements and measure. As a result, 12 types are defined by the combination of several types of graph. Finally, the form is revealed that the expression of measurement comparing the quantity bring the diversity and complexity to the network of identity and difference by arrangement of building elements in contemporary architecture.
