We developed a system that is a combination of sound information and picture. We studied the estimation of the direction of incidental plane waves with a small sized electric generator outdoor experimentally. As average numbers of the cross spectrum increase, sound source points are concentrated in a place, in the case that the sound source is random noise. We studied the visualization of sound insulation by this svstem in the anechoic room and outdoors. We confirmed the result and we were able to visualize the diffraction by setting the wall.

The objective of this article is to develop a method to analyze characteristics of land use agglomeration based on grid data. To this end, a method which uses the average ratio of edges of each grid with the same land use (called as Same Edge Ratio : SER) are formulated. First, SER is formulated based on JOIN-COUNT statistics and on ASEN ( the average number of edges of each grid with the same land use) . Second, the expected value and the variance of SER of a study area of arbitrary shape are calculated on random land use maps. Third, statistical tests of SER are formulated based on Monte-Carlo Simulation.

Cyclic tension and compression test was performed to clarify the transition from fatigue fracture to ductile fracture in structural steel. The fracture transition was clearly identified in the plastic strain accumulation pattern, the fractographic appearance, and the crack penetrating profile. When the elongation amplitude a is less than the transition amplitude aTr, the fatigue is predominant, so that the skeleton strain in the stress-strain hysteresis curve approaches zero, striation patterns are observed in the fractographic picture, and the crack goes straight into the thickness without any void around the crack tip. On the other hand, when a is greater than aTr, the ductile fracture is predominant, so that the skeleton strain increases with the elevated amplitude, mashed dimple patterns are observed in stead of striations, and the crack penetrates in zigzags joining coalesced voids.

The first Juraku-tyo was the first castle town where was built along with Jurakudai in Tensyo 14-18 (1586-90).Toyotomi government assembled the wealthy commonalty and ordered to inhabit in Juraku-tyo. The row houses were formed by intention of government and the financial power of commonalty. This paper is intended as an investigation of the row houses, which were found out in “Gosyo-sandai-Jurakudai-Gyoukou Screen”. It is clear that Toyotomi government intended to complete the row two-storied houses, which made the same eaves height.

Le Corbusier's architectural polychromy was analyzed on following 3 aspects. 1. The influence of De Stijl, which introduced polychromy into architecture before Le Corbusier. 2. Relations between purism's painting theory and architectural polychromy. 3. Relations between usage of equi-directional planning grid and architectural polychromy. The conclusions are as follows. 1. Architectural polychromy is the application of purism's painting theory. 2. To apply purism's painting theory to architecture, standard planes have to be established in architecture. 3. Identified with the standard planes of architectural polychromy, the imaginary standard planes to be provided by the equi-directional planning grid are able to apply purist's painting theory into architecture.

Augmented Reality or Mixed Reality is a technology to extend or enhance human senses by putting the CG which is processed by computer into the real world.The authors developed a tool for architectural design, using AR/MR and scale model. This tool enables the review by superimposing CG on the model. In addition, the authors proposed the solution of the problem of occlusion and optical integrity.In this paper, the authors report implementation details and preliminary experimental results of this tool.

This paper presents an energy performance analysis of an air-conditioning system with heat pump chillers controlled by inverters. The inverter is attached to the chiller's compressor, and controls the number of revolutions of the motor. As a result, the efficiency of the chiller in a partial load can be largely improved more than in a full load. Traditionally, a chiller in a HVAC&R system is operated at a full load from the viewpoints of the energy much. However, if an inverter is attached to the chiller, there is a possibility that the chiller's partial load operation will make the energy efficiency higher. This inverter utilization is one effective solution to reduce the energy consumption. The energy performance is evaluated by the HVAC&R's measurements and a simulation analysis.

The growing energy consumption of commercial buildings in the field of civilian sector strongly requires to take effective energy saving measures. Especially as the energy consumption of heat source system in office buildings occupies as high as about 30% of the total building energy consumption, the efficiency of the heat source system should urgently be upgraded. For this purpose, it is essential to grasp the annual thermal load fluctuation and corresponding operation status of the heat source system for analysis. At present, however, the examples of measurement survey of the energy efficiency ratio of the system in commercial buildings can scarcely be found. Backed by such circumstance as above, this study conducted actual measurement on the heat generation and energy consumption of the heat source system in three typical commercial buildings to grasp the operation status and energy efficiency ratio by employing the system COP as a performance index.

The objective of this paper is to clarify the hierarchical spatial composition of dead end streets for residential environment in the old district of Macao. It has been developed into high density city where residential and commercial areas coexist. Dead end streets as buffer zone are analyzed focusing on a hierarchical spatial composition with three levels such as urban, building and individual. As the result, four types of hierarchical spatial composition into dead end streets were pointed out.

We analyzed the store planning by the textbook of it in the Taisho period before the Kanto daishinsai. The results can be summarized;1. In the early years of the Taisho period, there was proposal for changing to sales system that is displayed goods for sale already, because of improvement of sales competitiveness.2. The concept of the store-front planning was in the process of making like in after the Kanto daishinsai, but there were not typical patterns in store-front.3. In the interior planning of store, there was proposal for sales system of semi-western style for provincial store.

The objective of this paper is to clarify the cooling effects of the sea breeze going-up along Shonai and Shinkawa rivers running around the outskirts of Nagoya on the urban thermal environment. In five days during summer of 2001 and 2002, air temperature, humidity, wind direction and velocity were observed as follows : these climatic conditions were measured at 4 stationary points and 58 mobile observation points along Shonai River, Shinkawa River, and some of streets crossing these rivers. The sea breeze from lse Bay went up these rivers in the daytime. ln that case, the cooling effects of the sea breeze were appeared over the area far about 15km from the sea. The wind direction of the sea breeze turned from southwest to southeast in the evening. Not only the wide rivers but also the narrow canal could acl as "Wind Trail" of the sea breeze over the area far from 5km at least. Heat island appeared clearly in the early morning of still fine days, but a part of heat island was cut off "Wind Trail" in the daytime. Consequently, both of Shonai and Shinkawa rivers were certified to have a role of "Wind Trail".
