It is well known that the mechanical strength of iron is significantly changed by alloying. However, atomistic origin and underlying mechanism are still unclear. Since the strength change with respect to solute concentration is very sensitive and highly non-linear, the way of empirical prediction may contribute little to designing the mechanical strength by alloying. In this study, we theoretically construct a model which predicts temperature, strain rate, and solute concentration dependencies on critical resolved shear stress (CRSS) and yield stress of BCC iron alloys with dilute substitutional solutes based on atomistic analysis of the dislocation-solute atom interaction. In the coarse-grained BCC polycrystalline metals, the mechanical strength and deformation are dominated by screw dislocation motion consisting of kink nucleation and migration processes. Thus, our model is based on atomistically computed activation free energies for kink nucleation and migration of screw dislocation. We eventually apply our model to Fe-Si dilute alloy system as a representative example of BCC dilute alloys, and the theoretically predicted CRSS by our model is compared with an experimental one.

東北地方太平洋沖地震において,上水道配水施設での矩形貯水槽の破損被害が多数報告され,多くの場合,壁面が破壊されている.このような貯水槽の被害は,やや長周期地震動により励起されたスロッシング現象(液面揺動の励起)が原因の一つとされている.そこで本論文では,実機貯水槽を大型振動台で加振実験を行い,壁面に作用する力を圧力計を用いて計測すると共に,加振方向の変化,加振時間の変化と加振振幅の変化によりスロッシング挙動が貯水槽壁面に与える影響を検討した.この結果から,加振方向角45°の場合に動液圧の作用力で貯水槽の隅角部ならびに天井付近が構造的に弱点となる可能性が高いことを把握した.

In a rapid spread of using the Internet, we developed a system of assistance for Website construction by using open source software. The open source software can use without charge and also its stability and security are no less than commercial software. In this paper, we describe the mechanism of this system and consider advantages of using open source software.

A method has been developed for determining amygdalin (AM) and its degradation products, benzyl alcohol (BeOH), benzaldehyde (BAL) and benzoic acid (BA) in Chinese quince fruit utilizing high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). A sample was extracted with 0.05 mol/L citric acid solution (pH2.2) and cleaned in an InertSep C18 cartridge and an InertSep NH₂ cartridge. The HPLC separation was performed on an Inertsil ODS-4 column using acetonitrile-0.01 mol/L phosphate buffer (pH2.0) (15:85) in the mobile phase. A UV monitor was used for detection. The effects during growth period on the amount of 4 components of sarcocarp and seed of Chinese quince was examined. AM content in seed increased proportionally each month. This increase was especially significant in seed retrieved in November. AM was detected in commercially available Chinese quince in the range of 0.03-0.06 mg/g sarcocarp, 0.21-1.75 mg/g seed. BA was not detected in any samples.

This paper addresses a proposition on revision of the Fixed-term Building Lease Law and some comments on the papers by Prof. Tamada, Prof. Fujii and Mr. Ozawa carried on the Japanese Journal of Real Estate Sciences No16. Especially, it criticizes the interpretation method on the articles of "Notice of Termination" and the proposition of "Introducing the Rule Preventing from Vacating in Misery" in Prof. Fujii's paper. It also examines that "Reservation System on the Future Contract of Continuous Tenancy" does not cause favorable effects for promoting use of Fixed-term Tenancy

In order to examine the effects of air bubble in the ear canal for underwater hearing, detailed measurement of minimum audible field (MAF) in audio frequency (50Hz-8kHz) and comparison of loudness were carried out at two conditions as below, 1) the air bubble remains in the ear canal and 2) the ear canal is filled with water. As the result, in the high frequency region over about 300 Hz, it is highly sensitive to hearing in the case that the air bubble remained in the ear canal. In the low frequency region under 300 Hz, it becomes more sensitive in the case that the ear canal was filled with the water by removing the air bubble.The reverse phenomenon of “hearing” at about 300 Hz is explained by difference between frequency characteristics of the occlusion effect (air conduction) and the effect in which the ear canal was filled with the water (bone conduction).

Despite huge Japanese public debt, some argue that low JGB interest rates imply that Japanese fiscal construction is not urgent. In this paper, I consider several factors behind the low JGB interest rates. First, using Barro (2006, 2009)'s rare disaster models with the projected probability and size of economic damage of great earthquakes in Japan, I show that the low safe interest rates may reflect larger risk aversion and/or larger risks. Also, the large convenience yields may explain the low JGB interest rates. However, these are based on the belief that Japanese government will take drastic tax increases and expenditure cuts to recover fiscal sustainability. If the default risk is recognized, high risk aversion and loss of large convenience yields imply that interest rates can jump up. In my estimation, when the default risk of JGBs in rare disasters is recognized, their interest rates can rise above 7%. Further, some of the policies that effectively worked as financial repression policies (such as heavy safe asset investment by GPIF) will change in near future. In conclusion, low JGB interest rates do not imply that fiscal reconstruction is not urgent in Japan.

人の注意を誘導し視覚的な気づきの誘発によって自動車運転などの人の行動を適切に支援するためには,注意誘導に加えて誘導による視覚的気づきの生起を検知する手段の実現が重要となる.本報告では,ディスプレイ上に表示した文字を探索する課題において注意対象に対する矩形枠の表示による誘導と,注意対象の動きと眼球運動の相関を利用した気づき検知について検討する.実験の結果,矩形枠表示による誘導効果および眼球運動を利用した気づき検知の有効性が示された.
