The production of sugar is adversely affected by unhealthy sugarcane, which decreases the yield and quality and is difficult to detect through non-destructive tests. This study aims to accurately differentiate between healthy and unhealthy sugarcane in a laboratory environment using a portable visible near-infrared spectrometer with multivariate analyses. The spectra of 100 each of healthy and unhealthy sugarcane parts are analyzed in this study. The classification rates of the partial least-squares discriminant analysis and support vector machine classification of healthy models are 100 % and 91.9 %, respectively, while the classification rates of unhealthy models are 65.2 % and 78.3 %, respectively. The overall results demonstrate that NIR spectroscopy and multivariate analyses are effective at classifying healthy and unhealthy sugarcane.

Hypertension is the major risk factor for stroke. In the Hisayama study, the risks of cardiovascular disease increased significantly from the lower range (120–129/80–84 mmHg) of prehypertension in a general Japanese population. Since the clinical trial SPRINT demonstrated that targeting a systolic blood pressure of less than 120mmHg reduced fatal and nonfatal major cardiovascular events, blood pressure goals in patients with hypertension currently tend to be more intensive. However, we should conduct more careful antihypertensive treatment when setting blood pressure target in the elderly or patients with cerebral artery stenosis. The meta–analysis including the majority studies for primary stroke prevention has shown that reducing LDL cholesterol with statins reduces the risk of stroke, therefore statin therapy is recommended for patients with dyslipidemia, especially having diabetes mellitus. Early detection and treatment of atrial fibrillation are valuable prevention for stroke risk reduction in the elderly. Anticoagulation should be considered even for the patients with atrial fibrillation (CHADS2 0 or 1) and other vascular risk factors. Regarding primary prevention of stroke for patients with asymptomatic cerebral atherosclerosis and silent lacunar infarction, intensive management of vascular risk factors such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus is the most important treatment for stroke prevention, and antiplatelet therapy should be taken into considered only in patients with high risk of ischemic stroke.It is also essential to educate and enlighten the knowledge of stroke risk factors and warning signs to the general public.

A mobile robot can use the walls or the pillars to localize itself when it navigates in indoor environment. However, in open space or outdoor environment there are few easy detectable and stable objects that the robot can use. In this paper, we propose a method for the detection of braille blocks, which are originally used for visually handicapped people, for autonomous mobile robot navigation. To recognize the Braille block, a CCD camera and a laser fan beam projector are used as sensor to detect uneven surface of the blocks. This paper also present the experimental results of simple navigation using the sensor system.

近年,大規模最適化問題の有効な近似解法として遺伝的アルゴリズム(GA)が研究されている。しかしGAには、計算負荷が高い、母集団内の個体の早期収束による局所解への収束、局所探索が不得手である、パラメータの設定が複雑であり多大な試行錯誤を必要とするといった問題が存在する。これらの問題への対処方法としてパラメータ不要の遺伝的アルゴリズム(PfGA)、分散型遺伝的アルゴリズム(DGA)などが提案されている。本研究ではPfGAのパラメータ設定が不要であるという特徴を生かしつつ最適化性能を更に改善するために、進化の過程で子個体の生成数を生成された個体の適応度の順番に応じて適応的に変化させることによって探索能力を向上させる手法を提案するとともに、PfGAの分散化を行い、代表的な最適化問題の一つである巡回セールスマン問題(TSP)を対象とした数値実験結果を通して、提案手法の有効性を示した。

This study examined how self-esteem and assumed competence relate to bullying. Participants were 434 undergraduates (204 males, 230 females) . Participants recalled their experiences during junior high school as they completed a self-esteem scale and an assumed competence scale. Results revealed a significant positive correlation between the extent of bullying perpetrated and assumed competence for male participants and participants as a whole. In other words, bullies had a higher assumed competence score. Cluster analysis was performed using the standardized scores from the self-esteem scale and the assumed competence scale. Based on the results, participants were classified into five types: “Atrophy type” “Assumption type” “Self esteem type” “Omnipotent type.” and “Average type.” Bullies were often “Assumption type” and victim-bullies were often “Omnipotence type.” In contrast, “Self esteem type” participants experienced less bullying. These results were discussed in terms of self-esteem and assumed competence.本研究では、仮想的有能感と自尊感情が、いじめにどのように関係しているのかを検討した。調査協力者は、学生434名(男子204名、女子230)である。回答に当たっては、中学時代を思い出して、その当時のいじめについてと、その当時の自尊感情と仮想的有能感について答えた。いじめ被害の程度、いじめ加害の程度、仮想的有能感、および自尊感情の相関関係を検討した結果、いじめ被害の程度といじめ加害の程度との間には、全体と男子において有意な正の相関がみられた。仮想的有能感といじめ加害の程度との間には、全体と男子において有意な相関がみられた。仮想的有能感尺度得点と自尊感情尺度得点を用いて大規模クラスター分析を行った結果、調査協力者は「萎縮型」「仮想型」「自尊型」「全能型」「平均型」に分類された。「仮想型」には加害経験者が多いこと、「全能型」には加害・被害経験者が多いこと、「自尊型」にはいじめ経験者が少ないこと、「平均型」には傍観者が多いことなどが見られた。これらの結果は、仮想的有能感と自尊感情との関連において考察された。

症例は31歳女性。解離性障害で精神科病院入院中,27×27×12mmの円柱形異物を誤飲し当院へ紹介となった。緊急上部内視鏡施行し食道入口部に異物が嵌頓していたため,X線透視下に食道拡張バルーンを用い,バルーンとスコープで異物をはさみ,スコープごと抜去することで異物除去に成功した。食道内に隙間無く嵌頓し,鉗子での把持が困難な食道異物に対して本法は有用で,同様の状況下の様々な食道異物に対し応用可能と考えられた。
