The latest knowledge encompass findings presented both in individual scientific publications and in internationally accepted reports. This review summarizes the latest knowledge on radiobiological effects on the latter level, using studies of atomic bomb survivors and victims of Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident. First of all, it is important to note that while examining individual patient, it is impossible to distinguish a radiation-induced cancer patient and non-radiation-induced cancer patient even when using state-of-the-art techniques. Therefore, investigation of radiation effects on humans, especially late health effects has been based on the epidemiological and statistical methods. Based on studies on atomic bomb survivors, it is well accepted that there is a linear increase in the risk of cancer with the increase of radiation dose. However, the existence of a threshold is a controversial issue, and health effects with regards to non-cancer diseases are not yet accepted by international authorities. Childhood thyroid cancer has increased after the Chernobyl accident and more than several thousands children are affected by it. However, there is no proof that any disease, with the exception of thyroid cancer and acute radiation effects, has increased after the Chernobyl accident. Finally, it should be mentioned that providing scientific explanation of the results to general public is an honorable duty of concerned scientists.

This paper's two questions are: (1) How the discourse of Oya Minoru, who tried to establish crime victims as subjects of rights for the first time, constituted a way of thinking that connected the rights of crime victims to those of potential crime victims, and (2) how his discourse created a field of discourse around crime victim relief.Oya Minoru's discourse produced a field of discourse, in which, on the one hand, all civilians, as potential crime victims, were to be involved in the problems of crime victims, while, on the other hand, the people who had the right to receive crime victim relief were to be screened on an urgent basis. Finally, this discourse became the starting point for the discourse about crime victim relief and support that followed.

仮想マシン (VM) をサービスとしてユーザに提供する IaaS 型クラウドの発展に伴い,一台のサーバで多くの VM を稼働させるだけでなく,大容量メモリを持つ VM も提供されるようになってきた.一方で,VM のマイグレーションを行うには移送先のホストに十分な空きメモリ容量が必要となり,大容量メモリを持つ VM はマイグレーションを行うのが困難になるという問題がある.マイグレーションのために大容量のメモリを備えたホストを確保しておくのはコストの面から難しいことが多いためである.本稿では,大容量メモリを持つ VM を複数のホストに分割してマイグレーションすることを可能とするシステム S-memV を提案する.S-memV は VM の核となる情報と頻繁にアクセスされるメモリを移送先のメインホストに送り,メインホストに入りきらないメモリはサブホストに送る.VM がサブホストにあるメモリを必要とした時には,メインホストとサブホストの間でメモリをスワップする.S-memV はこのような 1 対 N マイグレーションに加えて,N 対 1 マイグレーションおよび複数ホストにまたがる部分マイグレーションもサポートする.我々は S-memV を KVM に実装し,仮想メモリを用いた従来手法よりもマイグレーション時間を短縮できることを示した.

多文化主義は当初多民族国家カナダにおいて社会統合のための政策として採用され、その後オーストラリア、西ヨーロッパ、アメリカ合衆国などへ普及していった。しかしながら、多文化主義は文化的差異の間の新しい均衡を目指しているために、社会分裂の危険性や西欧文化の否定につながるというパラドックスに悩まされることになる。反多文化主義派は、これまで特権的な地位を占めていた西欧文化の優位性が失われるのではないかとの脅威を感じている。本稿ではグローバル社会の現在、民主主義思想から生まれてきた新たな社会統合原理としての多文化主義の可能性と問題点について概説し、多文化主義の限界を乗り越え、その可能性をより発展させる戦略としてディアスポラおよびハイブリディティ概念の活用を提案する。

超新星や中性子星といった高密度天体の内部には,棒状や板状に伸びた原子核-原子核パスタ-がどうやら存在しているようだ.最近我々が行った,量子分子動力学法によるシミュレーションは,重力崩壊による物質の圧縮や,中性子星の冷却の過程でパスタ相が実際に形成されることを予言している.本稿では,宇宙物理学的な背景を踏まえつつ,パスタ相研究の最近の進展として,我々の研究を紹介する.
