The fresh water species Green Swordtail Xiphophorus heller Heckel, 1848, endemic to central and northern America, was introduced to Japanese waters in the 1960's, established populations being recorded on Kume-jima island and Okinawa-jima island (Okinawa Prefecture), and in Yamanashi Prefecture. A single specimen (39.9 mm SL) of Green Swordtail, collected from the Handa River in May 2011, was the first record of the species from Amami-oshima island (one of the Satsunan Islands). Although the population increased hugely over the following years, it decreased significantly in winter 2015/2016, during which record low temperature levels occurred, only to recover within six months. The morphology of specimens from Amami-oshima island are described in detail, and distributional records of the species and recent population status on Amami-oshima island are discussed.

We conducted a series of survey to find the source of difference in preferences among the U.S.A., Germany and Japan through the relationship between food preferences, dietary habits and evaluation on beer taste. We tried to find a measure to seize food preferences and dietary habits by questionnaires and we unveiled, by beverage preference survey, the degree of importance of factors in consumers' minds concerning both functions of beer in daily life and factors which compose deliciousness of beer. The relationship between drinking occasion and taste of beer was analyzed by the evaluation of taste of beer from the result of a test drinking using the same samples across the three countries. We recognized that there were clear differences among the three countries in food preferences, dietary habits, images toward beer, evaluation on preference and flavor strength of beer after the test drinking. It was made clear that the origin of regional difference in the taste of beer was related to the differences in food preferences, dietary habits and functions that consumers desired.

フィルムの音は悪いといわれている.確かにひずみが多く, 雑音も多いし, また周波数特性も物たらない.これらの原因は, 現在の感光材料の本質的な宿命なのか, それとも録音以降に, 機械的に, また化学的に処理しなければならないことからの劣化がはなはだしく, 不満足な音になるのであろうか.本文では, 録音機における問題点, 現像における問題点を取り上げ, 光学録音に対する基礎知識を中心に, 現状を解説してみた.

抗生物質を混合し, 化学療法剤として応用する傾向は近年盛んで, 国の内外を問わず, 特に動物薬において著るしい。これら混合抗生物質製剤の分離定量については, これまで, 各種試験菌のうち原株を使用して, 各種抗生物質と混合されたペニシリン (PC) の分離定量1)をはじめ, ジヒドロストレプトマイシン (DSM) 3), フラジオマイシソ (FM) 4), ロイコマイシン (LM) 4), クロルテトラサイクリン (CTC) 2)およびバシトラシン (BC) 3)についての試験をおこない, その成績は過去数回にわたつて, 目本化学療法学会に報告した。しかし, 試験菌原株のものつ抗生物質分離能力には, おのずから限度があるので, この限界を越えた高い濃度の抗生物質が混入されたばあい, 混合試料のままでは, 定量したい目的の抗生物質のみの力価を確実に証明することが不可能なばあいが生じてくる。<BR>このように, 混合抗生物質の濃度が増大したばあい, その混合抗生物質に対する試験菌の耐性度を上げることによつて, 目的とする抗生物質の分離は容易になるわけである。われわれは, このような意図に基づいて, 耐性という特殊能力をもつ試験菌の育成と, その応用方法に関する試験をすすめてきた。<BR>獲得させる耐性の程度は, 混入を予想される抗生物質の量によつて左右されるが, われわれは試験菌の活力が著るしく阻害されない限り, できるだけ高度の耐性を付与することにつとめた。しかし, 抗生物質の種類や, 試験菌によつて, 耐性がなかなか高まらないものと, 比較的早く高まるもの, または天井知らずの上昇性を示すものなどがある。また, ある程度高い耐性を付与しても, 普通寒天継代をつづけるとき, 急速に低下してしまうもの, または非常に安定しているものなどがある。<BR>われわれは, 高度の耐性を付与した, しかも安定性を兼ねそなえた4種のDSM耐性株について, DSMと混合する他の抗生物質の分離定量試験をおこない, 実用的に応用価値の高い成績を得たのでその概要を報告する。

The longitudinal distribution of Ryukyu-ayu Plecoglossus altivelis ryukyuensis in the Katoku River, a small stream on Amami-oshima Island, southern Japan, was observed from December 2003 to November 2004. The number of Ryukyu-ayu in pools was greater than in glides or riffles in each life history season [spawning (Nov. to Feb.), up stream migration (Mar. to May) and growth (Jun. to Oct.) seasons], an analysis by Spearman’s correlation coefficient by rank test indicating that such abundance in pools tended to be consistently greater in lower reaches. This suggests that large pools in lower reaches are an important habitat for Ryukyu-ayu in the Katoku River. Accordingly, for the future conservation of the lower reaches and creation of large pools may be a positive step of this endangered fish.
