<p>The reentry capsule is one of the key technologies to support the sample return mission from deep space. The optimization of heat shield design is essential to meet to the weight limit of a reentry capsule, and one of approach to reduce its weight includes an exact predction of the aerodynamic heating environment at the rear heat shield. As an observation of the rear heat shield of "Hayabusa" reentry capsule, overlapped part of single side aluminized polyimide tape remained after the capsule returned to the earth. This fact shows that the actual heat flux during reentry on the rear was much lower than the assumption for heat shield design. In this paper, the heat flux on the rear was identified by the heating tests of the polyimide tape on the ablators using ICP heater. The result indicates that the heat flux on the rear heat shield is less than 20% of the assumption in the design of "Hayabusa" capsule. Furthermore, one dimensional thermal conduction analysis on the similar structure of the rear heat shield was carried out on the basis of its experimental estimation. The results of this analysis show the possibility that the thickness of ablator material for the rear heat shield may be reduced to half at the maximum.</p>

In this paper, to improve the spatiotemporal resolution and to reduce the invasiveness, we genetically introduce Optically-Manipulated molecular switch, channelrhodopsin (ChR), into sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) of C2C12 myoblast, mouse muscle cell lines. A myotube inserted with SR-targeted ChR can respond rapidlier than a myotube inserted with non-targeted ChR for 10-20 ms. A myotube inserted with SR-targeted ChR can contraction only by intracellular ion transportation. We can control intracellular Ca^<2+> ion of the myotube. This technique could facilitate the studies on the myogenesis, the stem cell therapy for muscular disorder, and the bioengineering using the muscle-powered actuator.

近い将来, 私達の生活空間において, 一家に一台, または一人に一台のお手伝いロボットが出現すると思われる。私が所属する研究室では7年前からパーティー会場等で飲み物などのサービスを行うロボットの研究が行われてきた。さらに, 5年前より始まった最先端ロボット技術コンクール(喫茶店のウェイター/ウェイトレスをモチーフにしたもの)に毎年出場し, サービスロボットの開発も行われてきた。ここでは, 第5回大会に出場しロボットの一台について報告する。

In recent years, the heat island phenomenon is paid attention. The various method are studied as a heat island measure. Interlocking that at present, used various recycling material as one method to the road surface is developed. The interlocking block is being laid in the sidewalk and parking place. Interlocking that I used to this research can save a rain water into the block, from that is made with a an aperture material unlike usual interlocking. Also, a rain water is able to expect even the effect that easy to penetrate into a foundation and increase cultivation to subterranean water and cause the outflow to subterranean water security and drain controlled. Thereupon, I did examination about the temperature reduction effect by the difference of the specimen with this research.

The temperature of sea water is lower than the outside air temperature in summer, and higher than the outside air temperature in winter. Therefore, high energy efficiency can be obtained by utilizing sea water for heat source water or cooling water of heat pumps. Then, we had developed the highly effective heat pump, which can use sea water directly as heat source or cooling water. In the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium, the water temperature of huge pools for breeding orca, belugas, etc., is adjusted with this highly effective heat pump system. In this paper, the energy-saving performance and environmental preservation performance of the system are clarified by analyzing the operation data over a period of four fiscal years.

This paper reports the potentiality of a semi-permanent integrated power source mounted on an insect. First, an insect biofuel cell(BFC) based on trehalase and glucose oxidase reactions which oxidize β-glucose obtained by hydrolyzing trehalose found in cockroach hemolymph(CHL) was developed and the maximum power density of 46 μW/cm^2 was obtained. Then, a self-circulation system of CHL powered by the dorsal vessel of a cockroach was developed for self-refueling of an insect-mountable BFC and connected to a cockroach with a flow channel. Finally, the electrochemical reaction of the anode was confirmed to take place when the chamber was mounted onto the cockroach. The results have enough potential to be applied for a micro battery of novel ubiquitous robots such as insect cyborgs in near future.

An energy regenerative active vibration control method using piezoelectric actuators, class D drivers, output filters and sliding mode controllers is proposed by the authors. DC voltage sources are used as power sources in the previous study and capacitors which can store regenerated energy also can be used as power sources. Class D drivers and output filters consist of switches and passive electric elements. Therefore, systems using capacitors as power sources can be considered as semi-active systems. Voltages of capacitors used as power sources are not constant because the capacitors are charged and discharged in control processes. An advantage of the proposed method is that characteristics of closed-loop systems are independent from voltages of power sources when systems are in sliding mode conditions. The advantage is suitable for systems using capacitors as power sources. The validity of the semi-active control method based on the proposed method is shown by numerical simulations of a SDOF model.

This study investigates elastic behavior attributed to flexor digitorum tendon, using ultrasonographic images. The tendon is stretched during finger extension both by muscle strength and external forces applied to the fingertip. The elastic force exerted by the stretched tendon can work as torque for flexsion of the finger. Our experimental scheme includes measuring changed MP joint angle and each corresponding exerted fingertip force and displacement of image feature on flexor digitorum in the ultrasonographic image. The measurement results of the relationship among the exerted fingertip force, flexion angle and ultrasonographic images show that extension or displacement of the tendon is proportional to the flexion angle. In addition, a hysteresis of the fingertip force in stretching and shortening cycle can be observed. The hysteresis addressed in the related studies may be caused mainly by behavior of flexor digitorum muscles.

We develop termite prevention-of-the-breeding and extermination robots system. This robot system is applied technology of rescue robot system. The most important feature of this robot system is in collaboration with a worker to protect house from termites. Therefore, these robots are design according as safety guideline for service robots. The name of the robots system is named "mirubo". This research shows the method of evaluations for the mirubo III. The evaluations include main five examinations as mobility exam, velocity exam, illumination exam, injection exam and step-over-performance exam.

This paper proposes a health monitoring system for detecting a hole opened on a pipe based on laser plasma acoustic excitation and acoustic measurement. In this system, the acoustic excitation is applied to the pipe by the laser-induced plasma in the air, which is generated by a high-power Nd: YAG pulse laser. Non-contact acoustic impulse excitation can be realized by laser-induced plasma. A microphone is used for measuring the time response of acoustic pressure. In this study, the detection of the hole on the pipe is focused. The time response of acoustic pressure changes due to reflection of acoustic wave caused at the hole opened on the pipe. The position of the hole is identified by applying continuous wavelet transform to time response of with/without the hole.

本研究では,粒子法の大規模並列計算により,ミルクラウンと呼ばれる水滴が落下し液相に衝突したときに発生するスプラッシュ現象を再した.解析モデルに対して,十分小さな粒子を用いることができければ,クラウン側面の壁厚さ方向に十分な粒子数を配置することができず,クラウン側面の壁に穴が開くという非物理的な現象が発生する.本研究では,十分に小さな粒子を用いることで,粒子法によりミクルラウンを再現すること成功した.加えて,本研究では,クラウン状の構造が消滅した後に形成される「こけし」の生成も成功した.
