Embedded software’ s scale is getting larger and larger these days. In this situation, it is difficult to grow young software developers’ design skill with OJT (on-the-job-training) because there are less opportunities to make software from scratch. We have participated in ET Robocon (ET software design robot contest) for six years as a chance that young developers gain software development experiences from scratch. Many young developers attended this contest in our company and they grew not only their design and modeling skills but also motivations with this contest. This paper describes our activities toward the contest and the educational effects of this activities.

大学生の留年問題を取り扱った報告は非常に少ないので,この問題について一石を投ずるために,東京理科大学理工学部機械工学科の事例について筆者の私見を述べる。留年生の数は教師の教育水準と学生の到達度の評価次第である。筆者担当の機械設計(製図)の科目につき「えんま帳」を紹介しながら筆者の教育哲学を披露する。

Essence of engineering education is acquirement of professional knowledge and skills for engineering. From viewpoints of time and motivation for the knowledge and skill acquirement, the education in Japanese colleges of technology is discussed in comparison with university's engineering education. The double tracking system of engineering education is available no matter how many students may go on to a university from a college of technology. Cultivating ability to put the knowledge to practical use is important in the engineering education of the colleges of technology.

At the present time circumstances around universities change on a large scale and students are in more severe situations than before. Therefore the problems which students have are complex and more difficult to solve. One professor or one counselor for one truant is beyond his capacity. Plural and trained staffs from various fields must grapple with one truant’s problems. This paper points out truant’s reasons as follows maladjustment to small group, inexperience to laboratory work, uncooperative attitude for professor’s experimentation, etc. Moreover, this paper introduces prevention and treatments for truants through concrete examples.

A framework for quality assurance of engineering education is proposed including an objective method for assessing learning outcomes. The framework is based on the three policies for the quality assurance of higher education in Japan, and follows the criteria of JABEE. The proposed framework consists of, (1) quality assurance by the JABEE accreditation, (2) information on the educational system of the program, (3) information on the measuring methods of each student’ s score and achievement level of the leaning outcomes, and (4) showcase-portfolio depicting the evidence for the achievement level of the leaning outcomes.

Recently, the industrial accidents rate of young unskilled workers is increasing in our country. Therefore, in national institute of technology which produces young engineers, an effective safety and health education for these workers is also desired strongly. Action to collect near-miss incident information is important position in such education. However, the near-miss reporting is not functioning effectively at the majority of national institute of technology because of negative consciousness and lack of understandings about this activity. In this research, we proposed the teaching method about the near-miss reporting using minority influence in order to solve these issues and carried out this method for three years from 2015 at our school. In this paper, we showed that injury accidents and tool breakages decrease as student near-miss reports increase, and safety culture maturity level in the mechanical workshop rises.

Niigata Prefecture is long from north to south, therefore its gastronomic culture is also various. The daylight hours of summer are long and suitable for rice cultivation. Since there is little temperature variability during winter, it is suitable for carrying out fermentation management of “Moromi” . Water within the prefecture has few minerals, and is fit for the low-temperature long-term fermentation of the Niigata sake conjointly with the climate condition. The Niigata sake brewed under such conditions - “TANREI” - it is expressed that it is the quality of sake. The new food “Sakasuke” which fermented sake lees with abundant nutrition in lactic acid bacteria was developed. This “Sakasuke” had the action which stops the allergic rhinitis-like symptoms of a mouse, and the lipid improvement action of a rat. Now, Niigata sake breweries are performing product development which uses “Sakasuke” , and a cake, liqueur, sweet drink made from fermented rice, and curry are already marketed.

This paper proposes the design and implementation of the education-oriented μITRON4.0 specification operating system on 8-bit PIC microcontrollers. In order to execute multi-task operatings in their small-capacity memories, we have adopted a shared stack structure. The primary purpose of our system development is to get an effective teaching material for RTOS educations in our university, so that students can easily understand the dynamics and mechanism of μITRON. Therefore, we have constructed a low-cost training environment with enough logging and debugging capabilities for the multi-task operation analysis in itself. In addition, we have developed the lessons that utilize this system listed as follows : “Practice of Embedded Software” and “Retraining of vocational training instructor”. Their questionnairy results answered by these students show positive evaluations in average for all lessons, which lead to the educational effectiveness of our system.

数年前から,高校生,中学生の理科離れが深刻な問題となっている。理科教育振興と自然の不思議さや科学のおもしろさを知ってもらうために,ダイヤモンド合成研究会を開催した。関東近県から100人を超す生徒たちが参加した。ダイヤモンド合成装置は理科室にある試験管やゴム栓などで組み立てることができ,価格も数千円である。原料はアルコールを使った。参加者は協力しながら装置の組み立てを行った。参加した彼等のアンケートから実験授業や体験実験,感動や発見の喜びがある授業などを求めていることがわかった。 「鉄は熱いうちに打て」である。感受性の豊かな子供のころに,カルチャーショックを受けるような体験をしてもらいたいものだと希望している。

工学備理教育では,(1)近代工学が社会に与えた精神界への打撃,労働の追放,環境の破壊などの事実内容についての講義,(2)工学倫理の自然科学的合理性,工学の社会に対する合目的性,工学の一方向性などの考え方についての講義,及び(3)原子爆弾投下,エイズ問題,遺伝子操作による動物の飼育などの主要な事例研究と演習,さらに(4)工学倫理組合の結成,労働形態の変更など社会生活への働きかけの可否などの講義と討論をもとに構成するのが適当であると考えられる。また,工学的内容を持つ事例の講義とその倫理学的哲学的内容を教授することが必要な工学倫理教育では複数の教育者の共同教育が必要であろう。

Japanese industry has been encouraged to transform from a mode of ‘recovery’ to one of 'front-runner' in effective innovation and creation of new businesses and markets based in accomplishments of basic research. Graduate School of Technology Management at Ritsumeikan University strives to not only offer knowledge and skills, but also business experiences to its students so that they may acquire the abilities to discover and solve practical problems logically, analytically and systematically. To achieve these aims, it has inaugurated the Ritsumeikan University Practicum Program by enhancing existing internship programs. Under the guidance of its faculties, this program will allow its students a chance to set and solve actual problems in real world business environments.

明治以後,日本人は初めて本物の機械文明を学び始めた。その時,近代技術の科学的基礎が,日本人にとって非常にわかりにくいものだった。科学文化の欠除は,伝統思想,とくに技芸の観念で補われたと思われる。こうした歴史的体験は,日本における現在の工学教育にも大切な教訓となるかもしれない。
