Motion control techniques are employed for nanoscale positioning in industrial equipment such as numerical control (NC) machine tools and exposure systems. The advanced motion control techniques are based on precise current control. However, speeding up the precise current response causes a serious limitation owing to the carrier period of the inverter. In addition, the position response has to be slower than the current response. In a previous paper, we designed and fabricated an experimental precision stage, achieving novel ultrahigh-speed nanoscale positioning based on multirate pulse width modulation (PWM) control. However, it was difficult to achieve faster and more precise positioning because of the resonance modes of the stage. In this paper, we propose a multirate PWM control in which the resonance mode is considered. Simulations and experiments are performed to demonstrate the advantages of the proposed method.

This paper proposes a new multivariable filter with variable-frequency characteristics for three-phase signal processing. The filter can make distinction between positive and negative frequencies of three-phase signals and can allow us to process the signals based on frequency polarity. The filter can also change dynamically its filtering characteristics by simply injecting a shift-signal to the filter. The filtering effects equivalent to ones by so-called the filters accompanied with vector rotators are obtained, but in much simpler manner. A unified analysis of attractive general characteristics of the multivariable filter is given for its easy designs and realizations as well. Effectiveness of the analysis and usefulness of the filter are examined and confirmed through experiments. The filter has potential to a variety of three-phase signal filtering applications.

This paper proposes new vector controllers in the D-module for controlling current of three-phase systems, which have no vector-rotators in current control loop. Conventional standard vector controller controls current of three-phase systems in rotational reference frame and a couple of vector rotators are indispensable in the loop. Vector rotators that perform sinusoidal operations on current must be realized in discrete-time manner, and sampling of current for the discrete-time processing restricts attainable bandwidth of the current control loop. Broader bandwidth of the loop is desired for both quick response and disturbance suppression. The proposed vector controllers in the D-module are so simple that no vector rotators in the loop are required, and can be realized in continuous-time manner due to its simplicity. Furthermore, under the same bandwidth of the current loop, the proposed one can show the equivalent performance to conventional standard vector controller having vector-rotators in the loop. These features allow broader bandwidth of the loop and better current control performance than the conventional vector controller. Two new vector controllers in the D-module are presented and their usefulness is examined and confirmed through numerical experiments.

Mathematical models used for control, such as for generating control references, have to be identical to the actual controlled objects to improve control accuracy. For this, their parameters are often tuned by model errors derived from the detected outputs of the controlled objects and calculated ones using the mathematical models. Therefore accurate identification between the model errors and appropriate tuning values of the parameters is necessary to complete tuning with small tuning numbers and no steady state errors.<br>In this paper, we propose The Adjusting Neural Network (AJNN), which is the extended model of conventional Multi-layered Neural Networks (CNN), to identify the non-linear relationship between them accurately. AJNN consists of two Multi-layered Neural Networks, namely, the Error Calculation Neural Network (ECNN) is added in parallel to CNN, where the ECNN calculates the output error of CNN and subtracts it from the output of CNN, to obtain accurate tuning values. Training method for AJNN is also proposed, where modified Back-propagation developed for reducing the error of AJNN and the conventional Back-propagation for decreasing the output of ECNN to zero, are applied to AJNN alternately. Finally, AJNN is evaluated with the model tuning of temperature control for reheating furnace plants and demonstrated to be effective to improve the accuracy of tuning and decrease tuning numbers.

We have developed a multichannel taste sensor with artifical lipid membranes and have applied it to quantification of taste of green tea. We used multiple regression analysis and found high correlations of outputs of the taste sensor with the results of sensory test (taste, flavor and color) and chemical analyses (amino acids and tannin that are main taste substances in green tea). It is concluded that the taste sensor has a potential for quantification of taste of green tea. The taste sensor responds not only to amino acids and tannin, but also to many other taste substances, and hence it contains much more taste information than conventional chemical analyses.

Solubility of copper in insulating oil depends on sulfur contents and component of insulating oil. As increasing of sulfur contents, the solubility of copper becomes large. When being added di-tert-butylparacrezole and benzotriazole into the insulating oil, solubility of copper becomes small. Evolution of combustible gas is proportional to amount of copper in insulating oil, and type of gas pattern due to results of gas analysis in insulating oil depends on chemical component of insulating oil. In the case of low aromatic content oil, hydrocarbon gas evolves preferentially, but in the case of high aromatic content oil, hydrogen gas evolves preferentially. Although degradation of the insulating oil is effected by solution of copper, breakdown voltage of insulating paper is not falling down.

This paper presents a position sensorless drive of a salient-pole brushless dc motor with a sinusoidal flux distribution. The algorithm is based on the estimation of back emf which is identified by the errors between the actual and estimated currents. Since the direction and amplitude of the estimated emf correspond to the rotor position and speed respectively, the position and speed can be estimated. The stability of the estimation and the design of the estimation gains are examined.The proposed algorithm were verified by using a 6-pole, 200W, 3000rpm test motor. In the results, the sensorless speed control range from 50rpm to 4000rpm under 0_??_100% load was obtained. The estimation algorithm is stable for any position error and any emf error.

Considering the fact that most problems in distribution lines are ground faults, we think that the technology to distinguish the causes in the distribution lines will be very useful in preventing faults beforehand or, at least finding any problems at an early stage. We analysed the waveforms of ground faults which were collected from data concerning problems in the districution lines and ground fault experiment. We then studied the possibility of technology which could predict classified groups drawn from the scale of Io (the waveform of ground fault's current) and Vo (the waveform of ground fault's voltage), and both of them in the ground faults. The results demonstrated that Io could be classified into three groups, that is, leaking ground faults are sine curve shaped, gap discharge ground faults are triangular and intermittent discharge ground faults are needle shaped. Also we calculated simulated equivalent impedance of the causes of ground faults by EMTP. Furthermore, we investigated the influence coused by the condition of the distribution lines. With these results, we proposed a technique which could predict the cause of problems in ground faults.

Electro-hydrostatic actuators (EHAs) are hydraulic systems that operate without control valves, making them a compact, cheap, and highly energy efficient system. However, resonance, static friction, and oil leakage degrade their control performance. Three controllers are integrated to overcome these issues. First, static friction is suppressed by a feedback modulator (FM). Input torque is quantized to exceed the maximum static friction force, and quantization errors are suppressed by the FM. Second, resonance is canceled out by a self resonance cancellation (SRC) technique. In the SRC, both angle responses of a hydraulic pump and a hydraulic motor are measured, and the rigid body mode is extracted. Then, resonance becomes unobservable, changing the system as a second-order system. Third, modeling errors, including oil leakage, are suppressed by a self resonance cancellation disturbance observer (SRCDOB). As the SRCDOB is implemented in the rigid body mode, the cut-off frequency of the SRCDOB can be greater than that of most common disturbance observers. This combination of controllers drastically improves the control performance, and it enables control system design based on frequency.

Waveform distortion of logic signal, by accelerating clock speed and improving implementation density, makes non-linear output for the input and has been giving behavioral problem to electronic system. There are overshoot type, hysteresis type, and undershoot type for transient waveform distortion. Deep undershoot could cause latchup for CMOS logic IC, data destruction for DRAM, pulse split for TTL IC, respectively. Undershoot of logic signal is not discussed only by transient phenomena (time domain ) but also by filter theory ( frequency domain). Time sequential resistance R variation by output circuit impedance variation causes such time domain variations as damping constant α and damping coefficient ζ. While resistance R variation causes Q variation in frequency domain. In this paper, an occurrence mechanism is shown that undershoot occurs when parasitic series resonance circuits are composed at load side of driving device and damping coefficient ζ varies time sequentially for totempole or complimentary circuits. PSpice simulation suggests that undershoot is reduced by controlling the phase of punch through current.

User support by a computer is desired for creating computer graphics. Automatic generation of moving human crowd is one of such demands. The feature of human crowd is that the behavior of each figure is independent, but the crowd, as a huge mass of it, has a pattern as a whole. It is too troublesome if the user inputs the all coordinates data of this behavior. This paper describes the modelling method using chaos and electric charge model. Chaos is convenient to represent such features. Electric charge model can represent the detail of each figure's movement.

We have developed a new method to measure an attenuation characteristic of a power cable in high frequency range. The method numerically obtains an attenuation characteristic by suppressing an influence of reflections caused by impedance mismatching. The correction equations are derived from the relation of forward waves and backward waves with multiple reflections in the cable.
