The sound of a reed-organ, harmonica and accordion has been believed to be made by the surface of a vibrating reed tongue and by the surface of a sound board vibrating from reaction of the tongue vibration. This paper denies this and asserts the following, (1) In the above instruments there is a difference in air pressure with a slot as a boarder, and a very rapid flow of air through the slot. When the tongue closes and opens the slot periodically, the sound is produced by changes in air pressure around the slot.(2) The vibration of the soundboard is also produced by the change in air pressure, but the sound produced by vibration of the soundboad is very weak.

『保元物語』の描く源為朝の有する孤立性について、為朝の判断・主張が保元の乱の発端から終結までの因果関係とうまく噛み合わないこと、そうした為朝が「我一人、世ニアラントセンズルエセ者」、「不孝の者」と規定されていること、為朝の弓矢が特異なものであること、等から検討を加えた。またそのことが、伝本によって為朝の扱われ方の違いに結びついていることを鎮魂の問題を含めつつ考察した。

Using large panel data which consist of responses from over 4000 households in all over Japan, we analyze changes in people's worldviews and subjective well-being (happiness) before and after the Great East Japan Earthquake. As a result we find that 1) there were more people—more than six times as many—who replied that their happiness improved after the earthquake than those who said it worsened, and also that 2) many more Japanese people have become more altruistic since the earthquake, even in the most affected areas. One possible interpretation of these results is that many Japanese became more altruistic as a result of the Great East Japan Earthquake, made donation, and donating improved people's happiness. Our regression analysis that allows for reverse causality yields results that are consistent with this interpretation.

The adaptation to heat arising in daily life was grasped by experiments in a climate chamber. The experiments were composed of +5 degree centigrade load from normal temperature to the subject in the test room during 30 minutes with clothing insulation of 0.37clo and carried out frequently by five young men of 20's from June to October 2004. Based on thermal physiology the term of the adaptation to heat was divided into five intervals; normal, intermittently ascending, continuous, intermittently descending, and normal. The characteristic of the adaptation to heat was found to be that after a short uncomfortable summer, a long comfortable summer will come.
