The balance of minerals (sodium [Na], potassium [K], calcium [Ca], and magnesium [Mg]) was measured in six female students for 10 d while under a relatively low Na intake (100mmol/d or 2.2g/d) with receiving adequate Ca (20mmol/d or 800mg/d) and Mg (12mmol/d or 280mg/d), Both the plasma renin activity (PRA) and aldosterone level were above the reference ranges throughout the experiment, which implied that the subjects were Na deficient. However, the urine Na excretion was about the same as that ingested, while there was no substantial reduction of sweat Na concentration observed during moderate physical exercise (13.2±2.6mmol/L) (mean±SD), On the other hand, the urine Ca and Mg levels were high, but the apparent absorption of Ca and Mg was moderate (21±5%, 34±4%, respectively), which resulted in a negative balance of these two elements. It seems that the stored Na in the bone is eluted so as to compensate for the low dietary Na intake, while any excess Ca and Mg also inevitably flows into the blood stream with Na, which inhibited the intestinal absorption of both Ca and Mg and accelerates their excretion in urine.

A variety of goddesses appear in the Zoroastrian pantheon. Among them, three goddesses are especially significant -Armaiti, Aši, and Anahita.Armaiti is a member of the Ameša Spentas and is ranked among the highest order of goddesses. Aši is closely connected with the concept of Aša, the core of the thought of Zoroaster himself. In Yašt it is recorded that Aši was the love of Zoroaster. Anahita, apparently influenced by the cult of Mesopotamian Mother Goddess, became the most popular object of Iranian faith.The three goddesses have separate origins and are theologicaly distinct. Nonetheless, under the influence of Indo-Iranian folk beliefs, all these goddesses have been viewed as the Earth Mother and as the complements to deities of the sky. Ahura Mazda and Armaiti were regarded as the parents of Gaya Maretan, or the primeval man. Mi∂ra and Anahita formed a pair. Aši was closely associated with Sraoša. These models parallel the dual divinities-Dyavaprthivi-of Rg Veda.

We have studied micro-seismicity in the northern part of Hokkaido (north above 44°N) from June to November in 1998 combining eleven temporal seismic stations with seven and five routine ones operated by Institute of Seismology and Volcanology (ISV) in Hokkaido University and Sapporo Meteorological Observatory, Japan Meteorological Agency (SMO), respectively.Firstly we determined 91 hypocenters of local earthquakes in this period using the dense network. These hypocenters are about three times of the number of those from the routine network alone. One-dimensional P-wave velocity structure assuming four-layer model (assumed thickness of 2, 8, 10km and infinite) and station corrections were estimated using a P-wave travel time inversion method with 735 P-wave arrival time records of 81 events. The velocity of each layer was determined to be 2.83km/sec for the first layer, 5.32km/sec for the second one, 6.32km/sec for the third one and 6.69km/sec for the bottom half space. From the P-wave station corrections we obtained, this region can be classified into three zones parallel in the north-south direction; the western islands region in the Sea of Japan, the western part of mainland, and the eastern part of mainland. Each zone shows the value of less than-0.5sec, +0.1-+0.4sec, and-0.1--0.5sec, respectively.Next, the hypocenters with the inverted velocity structure and the station corrections are relocated. As the results show, some hypocenters in the anomalous delayed station correction zone, i. e. the western part of mainland, are clearly located at the depth range from 20 to 25 km. Focal mechanism solutions of these deep events show normal fault type, while shallower events less than 20 km depth show strike-slip and reverse fault types. We also relocated 381 earthquake hypocenters which were routinely determined by ISV from October 1996 to December 2000. According to the relocated hypocenter distribution, a high seismic zone is shown in the western part of mainland with about 50km wide along a north-south direction. On the other hand, the eastern part of mainland is strongly characterized as aseismic zone. The boundary between the seismic and aseismic zones corresponds to the geological boundary between Kamuikotan metamorphic belt and Hidaka belt.

ジャンケンは世代を問わない身近な遊戯であり,その種類や掛け声は非常に多様で,分布には地域差がみられる。ジャンケン全般の研究としては,加古(2008)が1948〜2001年に全国のジャンケンの種類や掛け声などを,都道府県レベルで記録している。また多くの自治体史では,一般的なジャンケンの掛け声を方言や子どもの遊びの記録としてまとめている。特定のジャンケンでは“2チーム分けジャンケン”が方言研究の立場より多く研究されており,小学校区レベルの言語地図を作成し,掛け声の地域差や語形の変容に着目している(山田2007;佐々木 2012ほか)。本研究で取り上げる“ひとりもんジャンケン”は1回もしくは少ない回数で,大人数の中から1人だけ異なる手形を出した人が鬼などになる方法である。加古(2008)は,長野・山梨・島根・広島・徳島・高知の6県で使用されていること,掛け声は8種類でさらに3分類でき,長野県のみ2分類の掛け声がみられることを明らかにした。本研究では,長野県を対象とし,“ひとりもんジャンケン”の掛け声や使用展開、用途などの地域的差異を明らかにすることを目的とする。研究では,“ひとりもんジャンケン”の使用や掛け声などを調査するため,2018年11〜12月に長野県内の国公立小学校362校にアンケートを郵送し,249校(67.9%)から返信を得た。アンケートの対象者は「普段の子どもたちの生活の様子をよく知っている学校職員」としたため間接的な回答ではあるが,おおむね子どもたちについてのデータを得られたと考える。ほかに,“ひとりもんジャンケン”の使用などの世代差を明らかにするため,2017〜2019年にかけて,県内小学校出身の全ての年代を対象に,幼少期に使用していた掛け声の聞き取りを行い,346人から160校分のデータを得ることができた。以上のデータを小学校の位置に図示し,分布とその地域的差異を考察した。2018年のアンケート調査より,“ひとりもんジャンケン”の使用は全体の約34%の小学校であった。その使用は南信と中信に集中していた。確認された掛け声は42種類であり,5タイプに分類できた。掛け声は地域ごとに異なり,「ひとりだし〜」タイプは飯伊・上伊那,「あいてのないもの〜」タイプは松本・諏訪・大北・木曽・上伊那に集中する。「なかまのないもの〜」タイプは非常に少数であり,上伊那・松本・長野と分布もまばらであった。「ひとりなし〜」タイプは上伊那のみであった。県内小学校出身者の聞き取りからも,掛け声は5タイプに分類できた。調査データよりグロットグラムを作成し,長野県の“ひとりもんジャンケン”の年代・地域別の掛け声、伝播などを考察した。使用は全年代を通して南信・中信に集中し,前半の掛け声は「ひとりだし〜」と「あいてのないもの〜」タイプが主流である。前者は飯伊,後者は松本や諏訪に集中し,両者の接触地域にあたる上伊那では2タイプ以外に「なかまのないもの〜」や「ひとりなし〜」タイプもみられ,複数の掛け声タイプの併用があるなど,最も多様性に富む。また,掛け声の使用開始時期が地域で異なっている。県内の使用は1930年代まで遡ることができ,飯伊で「ひとりだし〜」,上伊那で「あいてのないもの〜」タイプが使用されていた。1960〜1970年代頃では使用範囲が拡大し,「ひとりだし〜」タイプは上伊那,「あいてのないもの〜」タイプは松本へ拡がり,その後,大北や木曽に拡がったと考えられる。飯伊と上伊那,松本を核とし,周縁部へ連続的に伝播したと推察する。一方で使用率の低い北信・東信では,核となる地域からの移動による飛び地的な伝播であると考えられる。後半の掛け声では,両調査より39種類が確認でき,「鬼」という語を含む掛け声と,その他の語を含む掛け声とに大きく二分できた。前者は長野県全域でみられるが,後者は「ひとりだし〜」タイプを多用する飯伊に集中していた。用途などの詳細な事項を聞き取ることができた52名分のデータより掛け声と用途をまとめた。用途の大半が鬼決めで用いられ,そのほとんどの掛け声に「鬼」という語が含まれる。その他の用途としては,当番や係,順番,人気のある事柄を獲得できる人を決める際に用いている。また,「ひとりだし〜」タイプは,効率性のほか遊戯性を求めた使用もみられ,掛け声や用途は非常に多様性に富む。「あいてのないもの〜」タイプは,鬼を決める以外の用途ではほとんど使用がみられず,マイナスな事柄を決めるイメージを持つ人が多い傾向にあり,「ひとりだし〜」と「あいてのないもの〜」タイプの性格は明瞭に異なっていた。

Dogs have shared a common environment and similar selective pressures with humans through the time of domestication. About 60 years ago, Lorenz (1949) proposed that in many ways dogs are possibly more human-like than any other animals, including nonhuman primates. Only recently, however, scientific studies have evinced the specialized social skills of dogs. The relationships between humans and domestic dogs have deepened and changed, which highlighted or rather increased practical and ethical problems on the relationship between these two species. Some dogs are considered as members of the family, while some others are ill-treated and abandoned due to their behavior problems. In an attempt to examine how animal psychology can contribute to the dog-human relationship in modern society, this article reviews the application of behavior technology to behavior problems of dogs, the problems arising from the massive disparities in the treatment of dogs, and the view and traditional attitude towards animals in the theories of animal ethics.

牛用駆虫剤イベルメクチンのポアオン法による投与が, 牛糞に生息する標的および非標的糞食性ハエ類に及ぼす影響について調べた.排糞中のイベルメクチンは, 処理後14または21日まで検出され, その濃度は処理後1または3日目に最大となった.処理された牛の糞において, ノサシバエとキタミドリイエバエの幼虫は14日目ですべて死亡し, 21日目でも蛹化率は減少した.羽化トラップを用いた野外実験において, 処理区でクロイエバエ, ヒメシリアカニクバエ, ツヤホソバエ科, ハヤトビバエ科, オドリバエ科などの発生は大きく減少した.環縫亜目・有額嚢群のハエの発生は, 処理後1, 3, 7日で等しく抑制された.ノミバエ科とヌカカ科の発生数は, 逆に処理区の糞で増加した.処理区において羽化したハエの乾燥重量は著しく減少し, 糞分解活動が抑制された.

Background: In patients with aortic stenosis (AS), measurement of aortic valve calcification (AVC) using computed tomography (CT) is recommended in cases where echocardiographic measurements are inconclusive. However, sex-specific AVC thresholds proposed in the guidelines for predicting severe AS (women: 1,200 arbitrary units [AU]; men: 2,000 AU) are based on studies from Western countries.Methods and Results: We retrospectively included 512 Japanese patients with at least moderate AS who underwent transthoracic echocardiography and CT. AVC was quantified using the Agatston method. AVC was positively correlated with peak aortic jet velocity and mean transvalvular gradient (mPG), and negatively correlated with aortic valve area (AVA) and the AVA index (AVAi). In 257 patients with concordant AS grading (152 severe AS [AVAi ≤0.6 cm2/m2, mPG ≥40 mmHg], 105 moderate AS [AVAi >0.6 cm2/m2, mPG <40 mmHg]), receiver operating characteristic curve analysis of AVC predicting severe AS yielded an area under the curve of 0.91 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.87–0.95; P<0.001) in women and 0.86 (95% CI 0.75–0.98; P<0.001) in men. The optimal thresholds (women: 1,379 AU; men: 1,802 AU) were close to those proposed in the guidelines. The diagnostic accuracy of the thresholds in the guidelines was similar to that of the optimal thresholds.Conclusions: The sex-specific AVC thresholds proposed in international guidelines can be applied to Japanese AS patients, yielding similar diagnostic accuracy as the optimal cut-off derived from the study patients.

近年の大学授業において,対面およびオンラインの両方のタイプの授業が混在して実施される状況が増加している.そのような場合,学生が大学でオンライン講義を受講する状況も生まれるため,大学の無線 LAN インフラは多人数でのオンライン講義の受講が可能であることが求められている.安定的な無線 LAN の提供のためには無線 LAN 環境の測定・監視が不可欠であるが,従来のような帯域測定や機器監視では中程度の帯域が連続的に発生する配信講義の品質を評価することが困難である.そこで本報告では,オンライン講義の受講品質に特化した無線 LAN 環境の測定について述べる.オンライン配信に採用されることが多い WebRTC を用いて,大規模かつ断続的に送受信試験を実施しつつ,クライアント側でアプリケーションレイヤでの品質測定をおこなうことで,従来の測定では追いきれなかった無線 LAN 環境におけるオンライン配信品質の評価および監視を実施した.
