Background:Ventricular septal defect (VSD) after myocardial infarction (MI) is a rare but fatal complication. We report patients’ characteristics and operative outcomes after surgical repair of post-MI VSD using a national database of Japan.Methods and Results:This was a retrospective review of the Japan Adult Cardiovascular Surgery Database (JCVSD) to identify adults (age ≥18 years) who underwent surgical repair of post-MI VSD between 2008 and 2014. The primary outcome was operative death. We identified 1,397 patients (671 male [48%], 74.1±9.3 years old) undergoing surgical repair of post-MI VSD among 288,736 patients undergoing cardiac surgery enrolled in the JCVSD during the same period. Of these, 1,075 (77.0%) were supported preoperatively with an intra-aortic balloon pump. Surgical status was urgent in 391 (28.0%) and emergency/salvage in 731 (52.3%). Concomitant coronary artery bypass grafting was performed in 475 (34.0%). Overall 30-day and operative mortalities were 24.3% and 33.0%, respectively. Operative mortality varied according to surgical status: 15.6% in elective, 30.9% in urgent, and 40.6% in emergency/salvage cases. Multivariable analysis identified advanced age and emergency/salvage status as being strongly associated with increased odds of operative death.Conclusions:Post-MI VSD remains a devastating complication in Japan as well as in the USA and Europe.

This dissertation examines how US television series represented Asian women from the 1970s to the 2000s. By focusing on the relationships of Asian women with other characters, it analyzes why representational transitions occurred in relation to the socio-cultural context of each program. In the 1970s, Asian women's relationship with other characters reflected and even seemed to support the existing social hegemonic structure. In the 2000s, “Asian” roles remained underprivileged, but they demonstrated more autonomy in their relationships with others. In the last chapter, I introduce the history of Asian American media organizations, one of the factors that brought about these transitions over the years.

In a first study, teachers were asked to nominate the students who had either egoistic or altruistic charachteristics in their thinking and behavior in their everyday lives. The students chosen by the teachers completed the questionnaires concerning egoistic or altruistic thinking and behavior. The major findings were as follows; 1. Considerable discrepancies were found among the chosen students. 2. As for self-evaluation, the “egoistic students” considered themselves to be less egoistic than did the “altruistic” and “other students”. These results could be seen as reflecting the immaturity of the psycho-social skills of the egoistic students as compared to the altruistic students. The second study was carried out to prove the above assumption. Questionnaires about the social and psychological skill of the students were distributed to the teachers. After analysing the results, the assumption proved to he accurate. The results also indicated that it was more difficult for the teachers to discover the underlying causes behind the behaviors of “egoistic” students than those behind the “altruistic” students.

本研究の目的は、広島県上下町出身の女性作家・岡田(永代)美知代(1885-1968)について、田山花袋の「蒲団」のモデルとしてのフィルターを排して、一人の女性作家として総合的に評価し直すことである。文献調査やインタビュー実施によって詳細な著作リストや年譜を作成した。また、生前未発表原稿の翻刻紹介を行なうとともに、残された作品や書簡を解析し、花袋との関係や地域性・労働・少女小説といった観点から、美知代の文学の特質を解明した。さらに、著作権継承者の許しを得て、これらの成果をホームページで公開し、広く研究と普及に寄与させた。

本研究は、「教える」専門家としての教員養成の根幹が問われる中で、学問としての「教育学」が果たすべき役割を明らかにすることを目的とする。具体的には、以下の2点の解明を目指す。①「教える」専門家がもつ「高度な専門性」の特徴を明らかにする。②「教育学」と「教える」専門家の養成との間の歴史的・制度的な関係性を明らかにし、「教育学」に基づく「教える」専門家養成システムの在り方を提示する。以上の2つの目的の達成を、教育哲学・教育思想、教育史、教育制度・教育行政、教育実践の4つの専門領域から検討することを通して、「教える」専門家の養成を学問として構築する「教育学」のあり方(モデル)の提示を目指す。

近年,酸化ストレスが生体に様々な影響を及ぼすことで,疾患の原因となっていることが分かってきた.しかし,酸化ストレス起因疾患に関連する遺伝子などの情報を提供するようなデータベースは存在しない.そのようなデータベースが構築され,その疾患だけに特有的な遺伝子が見つかれば,その遺伝子を標的とした副作用の少ない新薬開発につながる可能性がある.そこで本研究では,酸化ストレス起因疾患の新薬開発支援の観点から,疾患特有的遺伝子を順位付けして提供するデータベース検索システムを構築した.本システムで提供される酸化ストレス起因疾患関連遺伝子群は,与えられた疾患に対して特有的に関連する遺伝子群を生物医学文献から抽出し,それらの特有性に応じて順位付けするアルゴリズムにより得られたものである.酸化ストレス起因疾患名は,人手により 「酸化ストレス,活性酵素,ラジカル」 などのキーワード 20 個程を選択し,これらのキーワードを用いて文献・書籍を検索することによって網羅的な選出を試みた.
