The aim of this paper is to examine the self-portrait of Chinese-Vietnamese called "Minh Huong" in Hoi An city by analyzing mainly their family genealogies. The category of Chinese-Vietnamese refers to people who share the roots of having migrated from regions that historically were geopolitically delineated as part of China and their descendants. In this category, those who continue maintaining their "Chinese-ness", are regarded as ethnic Chinese (華人), one of the minority groups living in Vietnam. On the other hand, people who lose their consciousness of their Chinese origin and choose indigenization are, at present, registered not as one of the 53 minority groups but as the major ethnic group "Kinh." The category "Minh Huong" falls under the latter. The author conducted fieldwork focusing on people describing themselves as "Minh Huong" in Hoi An for about one year from April 2015 to March 2016. Hoi An is a small city in Quang Nam Province in Central Vietnam. It prospered as an overseas trading port and a base for trade between Vietnam and foreign countries from the 16th century to the 19th century. At that time, the rise of Hoi An was supported by Chinese immigrants. Among the Chinese immigrants in Hoi An at the time, it is widely known that a large number of people fled from China during the fall of the Ming dynasty from the 1600s to the late 17th century, aiming for permanent residence when they first arrived in Hoi An. Those Chinese immigrants and the mixed-heritage children who were born between them and the local women were called "明香" (this was changed to "明郷" from 1827, but the two words have the same Vietnamese pronunciation, "Minh Huong"). The historical explanation of the name is "people who maintain the incense of the Ming dynasty". The communities named "Minh Huong Xa (明香社)" have been established in many parts of Vietnam since the latter half of the 17th century. Today, among the local people, Hoi An is said to be the birthplace of the first "Minh Huong" community established in Vietnam. Along with the change of times, those descendants who continue to declare themselves "Minh Huong", are actively managing the "Minh Huong 萃先堂" (Minh Huong ancestors hall), a base for meetings and activities of the "Minh Huong" group in Hoi An. By analyzing mainly family genealogies obtained with the cooperation of self-proclaimed "Minh Huong" in Hoi An, the author attempts to elucidate the category "Minh Huong" in the historical and present context, e.g. "how they positioned and position themselves among the genealogies", "how they are conscious of their ancestors" and "how they intend to maintain their Chinese-ness in the future".

Renin-angiotensin (RA) system plays an important role in cardiovascular homeostasis. Here, we have described the recent progress in our study of renin release as well as the cellular action of angiotensin II.(1) Microdissection of an isolated afferent artery with or without macula densa (MD) has revealed that renin release is regulated by NaCl exposure to MD. Furosemide, prostaglandins (PGE2 and PGI2) and adenosine modulate its function.(2) Angiotensin (ang) II increases cytosolic free calcium and induces the formation of inositolphosphates in vascular smooth muscle cells. Deduced protein structure of ang II receptor (AT1-R) cDNA has indicated the presumed link of AT1-R with phospholipase C. Through the cellular action, ang II has been reported to regulate gene expression.

【目的】臨死体験とは、心停止から蘇生した人が体感する体外離脱(幽体離脱)などの科学では解明しきれていない体験である。その報告は多い。臨死体験には人類共通の普遍性と文化の違いによる特殊性があると考えられる。本研究ではこの共通性と文化差とを検討したい。臨死体験中に体験したことの表現から臨死体験の世界を考察する。【方法】立花 隆(2001)『証言・臨死体験』(文春文庫)に掲載されている有名人の臨死体験の事例とウェブサイト「臨死体験/臨死共有体験の掲示板」の臨死体験記録をテキスト化しText Mining Studioを用いてテキストマイニングの手法により単語や係り受け表現などの分析を行い、他の文化圏との特徴の比較をおこなった。【結果と考察】日本人の臨死体験における特徴的な単語として「川」と「花」の両方とも、22名中、各12名が証言している。過半数の体験者にみられた特徴と言えよう。日本人に多く表現される「川」が、西洋にみる光とトンネルとの関連で考察された。しかし、他の文化圏にみられる表現との共通性も同時に指摘された。

Surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy with ATR configuration (ATR-SEIRAS) is a powerful tool for probing the electrochemical interface. Experimental details of this technique including know-how are described together with some outstanding results.

The Impact damper with granular materials has a high damping effect for wide frequency range and it is used in many fields. Many researches have been made on the prediction of the damping effect of this damper on one degree of freedom spring-mass system. But it is more useful to be able to predict the damping effect when applied to a real complex structure. For this purpose, numerical modeling of damping effect of an impact damper is important for efficient design of structures set with dampers. In this paper, the granular materials are modeled as one mass point of restitution coefficient of zero that undergo displacement vibration excitation, and the motion of this mass point is theoretically analyzed for the case of vertical vibration and one side collision. From these results, we propose a method for obtaining the macroscopic damping effect of the impact damper with granular materials. This is obtained as a nonlinear equivalent mass ratio and nonlinear damping coefficient with amplitude dependence. Further the excitation experiment which identified the damping characteristic of the damper was carried out. Theoretical solution and experimental result show the good coincidence.

We investigated the effect of laughter on salivary endocrinological stress marker chromogranin A (CgA). In saliva samples collected from 11 healthy males before and after watching a comic film or a non-humorous control film, salivary CgA levels were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Samples taken after watching the comic film showed increased levels of CgA. This tendency was more pronounced in individuals with lower initial levels of stress. The control samples showed no significant change in CgA levels. Stress score, subjectively evaluated using a visual analog scale, decreased significantly after watching the comic film. These findings suggest that, in addition to a stress relief effect, laughter can bring about feeling uplifted or fulfilled.

施設内外の夜間のCO2濃度の計測値を利用して,隙間換気回数と施設内でのCO2発生速度を推定するソフトウェアを開発した.開発したソフトウェアはパーソナルコンピュータ上で動作し,ユビキタス環境制御システム(UECS)に準拠したCO2計測ノードが導入された施設で利用可能である.冬期間締め切った施設では夜間,土壌や植物から発生するCO2によってCO2濃度が上昇する.隙間換気回数と施設内からのCO2発生によってCO2の上昇曲線が決まる.開発したソフトウェアで,隙間換気回数推定のためのデータ収集期間を設定すると,自動的にその期間のCO2濃度を記録する.その期間の終了時に,非線形回帰分析を利用して,隙間換気回数と施設のCO2発生速度を自動的に推定する.また,計算したこれらの推定値を利用して,日中,換気開始前までの施設内での光合成速度を推定する機能を実装した.また,電子メールによってこれらの計算結果をリアルタイムにユーザーに伝達する機能を実装し,推定値の把握を容易にした.本ソフトウェアを利用することでCO2測定ノードが導入されていれば,簡単に隙間換気回数,施設内でのCO2発生速度を推定可能で,施設内でのCO2環境や省エネルギなどの施設内環境の改善に活用できると考えられた.
