本研究はワーク・ライフ・バランス(WLB)という点で対照的な日本とオランダの育児期家庭の生活の実態と心理を比較検討し, WLBが乳幼児を持つ父母の育児に与える影響を考察した。WLBとは「職業役割」と「家庭役割」をバランスよく担うことである。日本は母親の育児不安が高いが, その要因は父親の育児不在と母親が育児を1人で抱え込むことにある。対照的に, オランダは仕事と家事・育児をより男女平等に担い, 最もWLBの達成された国である。本稿では, 父母の生活時間, 育児行動等の生活の実態と, 育児感情, 自尊心, ストレスなど心理のかかわりを検討した。その結果, 次の4点が明らかになった。(1) 育児行動においては日本とオランダともに母親の方が父親より育児を多く行っていた。但し, 日本では父母間の差はオランダより著しい。(2) オランダの父親の労働時間は短く母親の就業率が高く, 父母のWLBがとれ, 育児の協同が顕著である。(3) 日本は父母のWLBが欠けており, ともに「育児への否定感」がオランダより高い。(4) オランダの父母は日本より自尊心が高くストレスも低い。

The technologies obtained through the space activities should be used in various areas including "Humanities study". "Surveillance study by ALOS data on the trace of migration in ancient history" is an experiment to invent a new field as "Space Humanities study". At the ancient time in Japan, how have the people moved, and how have they lived? The history of mankind is coexistence of the movement and settling down. About settling down place, the verification work is still continuing in every ruin. However, in comparison with "Settling down ", the researches in movement are not performed enough. Because the verification work is usually done on the ground, and spots of ruin exist has been replaced to the average maps. On 2D-maps without rich indications of geographical features, it makes difficult to find out and trace the ancient people's footprint between ruin-to-ruin. The bird's-eye view photos by ALOS, which show details of geographical features, are ideal for those verification works. But processing costs of the bird's-eye view photos by ALOS are quite high for students. Using the newly developed software"Daichi no hoko" ,ALOS data , and 3D- software on the market, it becomes capable to show the details of geographical features on 3D-maps. And tracing footprints of ancient people will be possible in low cost. This method is expected to apply for various fields such as cultural anthropology, archeology, and even for amateur historian's personal study.

[Purpose] The study aimed to preliminarily investigate the effects of mechanical-bed massage on exercise-induced back fatigue in athletes. [Subjects and Methods] Twelve male college athletes, randomly allocated to experimental or control groups, were instructed to perform reverse sit-up for 8 sessions until they became fatigued. The experimental group received a 20-min mechanical-bed massage session, while the control group rested on a bed for the same period of time. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) on perceived back muscle fatigue, back muscle endurance, and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) parameters including stress index (SI), HRV index, SDNN, RMSSD, pNN50, LF, HF, and LF/HF were analyzed. [Results] Immediately and 24 hours after the intervention, the VAS significantly differed between the groups. Experimental group’s HF was significantly higher immediately after the intervention than control group. Experimental group’s LF and LF/HF were significantly lower immediately after the intervention than the control group. [Conclusion] Mechanical bed massage may help athletes overcome the subjective feelings of exercise-induced fatigue, modulate the automatic nervous system activity, especially for balancing sympathetic and parasympathetic activities. Therefore, mechanical bed massage may facilitate recovery from muscle and central fatigue after athlete training or competition.

政府の場合,保有する機密情報や法令上非公開とされている情報を除き,国民に公開すべきものであり,その一部は灰色文献を構成してきた。また,学術情報についても,たとえば,博士論文は一般市民には近づきがたく,グレーな情報にとどまってきた。民間の企業や団体が保有する価値ある情報が,灰色文献として,一部でひそかに活用されてきたこともある。従来は,このような小規模潜行出版による紙媒体資料としての限界から,灰色文献として取り扱われてきたものが,最近ではその少なくない部分がデジタル化され,インターネット上で利用できるようになった。本稿は,日本法の枠内で,紙媒体からオンラインのデジタルコンテンツに変貌しつつある'灰色文献'を法的に検討しようとする。

The famous translation of the Arabian Nights' Entertainments by Sir Richard F. Burton (1821-96) was first published in 1885 in 10 volumes, and 6 volumes of the supplemental Nights were published from 1886 to 1888. It won a great success, and even in these days many people believe it as the most excellent and the most reliable translation of the 1001 Nights. Especially in Japan, it is so popular that at least three times it was retranslated into Japanese by various translators who were the admirers of R. Burton. But in many countries, Burton's translation has been criticized or defended by not a few scholars. Already in 1906, Thomas Wright demonstrated in his “Life of R. Burton, ” that his translation of the 1001 Nights is whole appropriation of that of John Payne. Payne's translation is the first complete English version of the Nights and no one denies its excellence But, his translation had been speedily forgotten by the public, and the swashbuckling plagiarist got the honor, wealth and popularity. Moreover, in the so-called Burton-Payne Controversy, the defenders of R. Burton seem more numerous than those of J. Payne. It was to my heart's content that Mia 1. Gerhardt developped a very sharp defense for the part of the latter in 1963 in her “The Art of Story-Telling.” However the author argued that the poems in the 1001 Nights were almost all translated by R. Burton independently and these are in general better than the renderings of J. Payne. I would not agree with this opinion, because I think that the translation of the poems by R. Burton also seem to be the appropriation of those of Payne and sometimes of Henry Torrens. In this essay, I would like to prove it. Next, why the painstaking work of J. Payne was soon forgotten, and survived the quite contrary one? The final aim of this essay is to find out some answer to this guestion.

This article discusses the meaning of the “score mark” left on the Sasanian and Arab-Sasanian silver coins discovered in 1959 at Wuqia in the Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region of northwest China.The Wuqia hoard was studied by Chinese and Japanese researchers, including the present author, and the results were published in 2003. The hoard consists of 918 Sasanian and Arab-Sasanian silver drachms with dates between A. D. 588 and 679.During our study of those coins, a number of discoveries were made. One of them was the presence of “score marks” in the margin of 84 coins. By comparing the “score marks” with other characteristics of the coins, the mark was determined to be related to the “countermark”. A “countermark” is a stamp or mark impressed on a coin to verify its use by another government, or to indicate revaluation. Similar sets of “score marks” and “countermarks” also appear on other Sasanian silver coins stored in private and public collections.Thus, the author concludes that the “score mark” was probably used to test the quality of the silver before striking a specific “countermark”.

In the transition from medieval scholasticism to early modern philosophy, the problem of the relation between faith and reason was raised by the Italian humanists of the fifteenth century. Searching for human perfection, they connected the ideals of ancient rhetoric with the faith of the Fathers of the Church. Marsilio Ficino (1433-1499) was the founder and leading spirit of the Platonic Academy in Medici-Florence. Through comprehensive translations, interpretations and systematic works he created a Christian philosophy supported by Platonic ontology and metaphysics of the mind. Aiming at contemplation of God or "learned piety", his theocentrism is mediated by an analysis of the mind's natural inclination to eternal beatitude. Thus, knowledge of transcendence and immortality of the human soul are the fundamentals of the mind's ascent to God, which is guided by biblical faith as taught by the authority of the Church and illuminated by rational reflection on self-knowledge. The convergence of reason and faith or philosophy and religion is endorsed historically by the development of ancient philosophy ("prisca theologia"), which - according to Ficino's construction - leads from Egyptian hermetic thought through Greek philosophy with its culmination in Plato, to Plotinos' neo-platonic theology and its medieval tradition up to Ficino's time. The neo-platonic conception of the mind in its relation to God, however, is said to have originated under the influence of the apostolic preaching as handed down through "Paul's disciple" Dionysios Areopagites and, later on, by Origen, an acquaintance of Plotinos. In this systematically and historically wide-ranging synthesis of Platonic philosophy and Christian faith, Ficino feels himself confirmed by the Church Fathers, especially by Augustine, who not only was led to Christianity by reading neo-platonic writings, but also after his conversion integrated Platonic philosophy with Christian theology, thus opening an intellectual access to faith.

The aim of this paper is to investigate Paul Valery's criticism of description in literature and to clarify his ideal of poetry. Description is a technique to represent an object visually. Though an author chooses arbitrarily what he/she describes, he/she expects his/her reader to abstain the self and to obey him/her. Valery criticized this passiveness of reader and dominance of author. For Valery both reader and author have productive roles and they are completely separated two systems just like a producer and a consumer in a market economy. Through an act of reading, a reader finds abilities of his/her body which were unknown to himself/herself. This focusing on a reader's body is an ideal effect of poetry for Valery. While description involves a false reality, a pure poetry explores a reality of body. A work is not a messenger of feelings or thoughts of an author but a machine to make a reader's body act. A comparison with Breton's solution will make points of Valery's discussion more clear.

The mystical speech in its proper sense is created only through real, profound mystical experiences which mystics with innate unyielding character have in a dynamic tention between God and themselves. Under the social oppression in the Iranian cultural environment were Persian mystics obliged to interprete their unconventional speech into metaphor without any social contexts.The present paper examines the significant properties of the metaphorical expressions found in a Persian metaphysical poem, Golshan-e raz, composed by an Azerbaijan mystical philosopher Mahmud-e Shabestari (d. 1320).In the historical perspective of Persian literature, it can be said that this work does not only present the doctrine of the Unity of Being in a poetical manner, but also shows the malamatiye tendency, especially in its intentional usage of a series of blasphemous words (e. g., kofr, bot, kharabat, etc. ) of anti-Divine Law (shar'). Those ideas and expressions have widely been disseminated by certain malamatiye mystic groups in some Persian mystical poems since the 12th century.In this paper, from the standpoint of intellectual history, special attention is paid to the analysis of the paradoxical system of opposites seen in this work that Shabestari deliberately inherited from a Persian mystic, 'Ein al-Qozat-e Hamadani (d. 1131), who had articulated this paradoxical, dialectical discourse in an attractive way in his Tamhidat.

The purpose of this paper is to present a historical and geographic macroperspective on the changes in global politics and economics being brought about by communications networks. The Internet is playing a major role in this revolution. We are in the midst of an momentous age, in which two cultures, which began in ancient Egypt about 6, 600 years ago and spread around the globe, are meeting again in the Asia-Pacific region, which includes Japan. The information revolution is making this possible.We can use the Venetian civilization as the dividing line between the Middle Ages and the modern industrial world. Since then, the phases of global prosperity were punctuated by the industrial, manufacturing, and commercial revolutions made possible by the development of the steam engine, and later the internal combustion engine. The fourth phase of global prosperity began when the American-invented transistor was reborn as the microprocessor.A key aspect of the information revolution is the migration of publishing onto online services, and making those resources available in real time. This is being made possible by the microprocessor. In turn, this provides us with the ability to use communications networks to improve dialogue among nations, access to education and health care, and solutions for the planet's ecology.The roots of this information revolution lie in the US's attempt to deal with such problems as its budget deficit, trade deficit, and increasing difficulties with its systems of education and health care. But as the US makes the transition from a National Information Infrastructure to a Global Information Infrastructure, this information revolution also offers opportunities for solving East-West and North-South problems. Communications networks are now linking not only the world's major economic powers, but also post-Soviet Eastern Europe, the Asian-Pacific region, South America, and Africa. From the standpoint of this information revolution, the major power in the twenty-first century—in terms of human resources, language, economic strength, military ability, and communications technology—will not be China or India, it will be the US. The US is the only nation with sufficient resources to leverage communications networks as a means toward peace and prosperity in the twenty-first century. The US can use the information revolution to extend its dominance and prosperity for another hundred years. Rather than compete against the US, Japan should choose to support the cause of world peace by contributing to the expansion of information networks.
