ロールシャッハ・テストに関する現象学風の解釈可能性を提示したものである。この種の試みはあまり例がなく、とくに「代替可能な視点」を提供する哲学的議論を具体的な臨床現場との接点において導入する試みとしては評価できる。しかし、設定した問題(辻(1997)の批判的解釈)の短い射程内に留まっており、原著作の具体的問題点の提示と解決、論文自身の立っている立場や導入している議論の広範囲への展開可能性についての表明が希薄であり、議論の内在的な発展が望まれる。

症例は33歳男性.心窩部痛を主訴に来院.上部消化管内視鏡検査にて胃および十二指腸粘膜のびらん,浮腫を指摘され入院となった.入院経過中に,胃十二指腸炎の増悪を認めた.血清抗サイトメガロウイルス(以下CMV)抗体価の上昇と,胃粘膜生検組織にて核内封入体を認め,CMV胃十二指腸炎と診断した.健常成人のCMV感染症において,胃のみならず十二指腸まで病変を認める例は極めてまれであると考え報告する.

In the present study, we investigated the effects of type 2 diabetes-induced hyperglycemia on the integrity of the blood–brain barrier and tight junction markers in the rat hippocampus. Forty-week-old diabetic (Zucker diabetic fatty, ZDF) rats and littermate control (Zucker lean control, ZLC) rats were used in this study. We evaluated the integrity of the blood–brain barrier by measuring sodium fluorescein extravasation and blood vessel ultrastructure. In addition, tight junction markers, such as zona occludens-1, occludin and claudin-5, were quantified by western blot analysis. ZDF rats showed significantly increased sodium fluorescein leakage in the hippocampus. Tight junction markers, such as occludin and claudin-5, were significantly decreased in the hippocampi of ZDF rats compared to those of ZLC rats. In addition, ZDF rats showed ultrastructural changes with phagocytic findings in the blood vessels. These results suggest that chronic untreated diabetes impairs the permeability of the hippocampal blood–brain barrier by down-regulating occludin and claudin-5, indicating that chronic untreated diabetes may cause hippocampus-dependent dysfunction.

Berberine is one of the main alkaloids of Rhizoma coptidis which has been used as a folk medicine to treat diabetes mellitus for more than 1400 years in China. To investigate the chronic effect of berberine on diabetic hyperlipidemic rats, fasted rats were intraperitoneally injected 35 mg/kg streptozotocin. Diabetic rats were admitted after 2 weeks and given a high-carbohydrate/high-fat diet to induce hyperlipidemia. The rats were divided into 7 groups at the end of week 16: normal and diabetic rats received no drug, 5 treatment groups were administered with either 75, 150, 300 mg/kg berberine, 100 mg/kg fenofibrate or 4 mg/kg rosiglitazone per day for 16 weeks, respectively. The blood glucose, hemoglobin A1c, lipid metabolic parameters and hepatic glycogen and triglyceride were measured, and histopathology and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) α/δ/γ expression of liver were determined by hematoxylin eosin and immunohistochemical staining. Berberine reduced diabetic rats' body weight, liver weight and liver to body weight ratio. Berberine restored the increased blood glucose, hemoglobin A1c, total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein-cholesterol, apolipoprotein B and the decreased high density lipoprotein-cholesterol, apolipoprotein AI levels in diabetic rats to near the control ones. Berberine alleviated the pathological progression of liver and reverted the increased hepatic glycogen and triglyceride to near the control levels. Berberine increased PPARα/δ expression and reduced PPARγ expression in liver of diabetic rat to near the control ones. Berberine improved glucolipid metabolism both in blood and liver in diabetic rats possibly through modulating the metabolic related PPARα/δ/γ protein expression in liver.

Recently, it is implicated that the abnormality of Akt signaling pathway is involved in the diabetic pathology. Previous studies have demonstrated that berberine could decrease blood glucose by elevating liver glycogen synthesis. However, the underlying mechanism is still unclear. In the present study, we investigated the effects of berberine on fasting blood glucose, liver glycogen, Akt, Glycogen synthase kinase-3, glucokinase and insulin receptor substrate (IRS) in alloxan-induced diabetic mice, exploring its possible hypoglycemic mechanism. We found that in alloxan-induced diabetic mice, the high blood glucose was significantly lowered by berberine treatment. Liver glycogen content, the expression and activity of glucokinase and the phosphorylated Akt and IRS were all significantly reduced in diabetic mice whereas berberine blocked these changes. Berberine also depressed the increasing of phosphorylated GSK-3β in diabetic mice. Collectively, Berberine upregulates the activity of Akt possibly via insulin signaling pathway, eventually lowering high blood glucose in alloxan-induced diabetic mice.

The activity of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and MMP-9 in synovial fluids (SF) sampled from dogs with joint disorders was investigated by gelatin zymography and densitometry. Pro-MMP-2 showed similar activity levels in dogs with idiopathic polyarthritis (IPA; n=17) or canine rheumatoid arthritis (cRA; n=4), and healthy controls (n=10). However, dogs with cranial cruciate ligament rupture (CCLR; n=5) presented significantly higher pro-MMP-2 activity than IPA and healthy dogs. Meanwhile, dogs with IPA exhibited significantly higher activity of pro- and active MMP-9 than other groups. Activity levels in pro- and active MMP-9 in cRA and CCLR dogs were not significantly different from those in healthy controls. Different patterns of MMP-2 and MMP-9 activity may reflect the differences in the underlying pathological processes.

In this study, the significance of extracurricular activities in the life of junior high school students was examined. Seventh and eighth graders participated in a two-stage questionnaire survey, administered in May and October. Based on developmental stage-environment fit theory (Eccles, Wigfield, & Schiefele, 1998), how well extracurricular activity settings fit needs of the students was analyzed. In support of the theory's hypothesis, results indicated that whether an extracurricular activity satisfied the student's developmental needs affected his/her sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in school life. In addition, the effect of seventh graders' commitment to extracurricular activities on their satisfaction of school life was stronger in October than in May. The findings suggested that for students who felt uneasy in class for whatever reasons, extracurricular activities provided an opportunity for relief.

Long-period structures of homologous phases Ga2O3(ZnO)m are closely related to the wurtzite structure of ZnO, and structural evolution is discussed based on the results from structure analyses. A unified structure model for Ga2O3(ZnO)m is established in(3+1)dimensional superspace. Zig-zag functions with large amplitudes are used as modulation functions in the model, which is a common feature in structures constructed by the so-called unit-cell twining. Advantages of the superspace description for homologous phases are explained in relation to the process of identification of materials.

東部南海トラフ海域でのメタンハイドレート(MH)の成因を明らかにするために、MH濃集帯を含むコア試料のバイオマーカーを分析し、培養実験によるメタン生成及び酸化活性評価試験、堆積物の遺伝子解析、及び堆積盆シミュレーションの結果との比較を行うことによって、メタン生成ポテンシャルを評価した。メタン生成菌のバイオマーカーと考えられるPMI(2,6,10,15,19ペンタメチルイコサン)の炭素同位体比からPMIの起源がメタン生成菌由来であることが示唆された。PMIの濃度はMH濃集帯で高く、培養実験によるメタン生成及び酸化活性評価試験、堆積物の遺伝子解析の結果及び堆積盆シミュレーションの結果と調和的であった。これらの結果から、MH濃集帯を含む深い深度においてメタン生成活性が活発であった可能性が示唆された。

D/V Chikyu is the largest scientific drilling vessel in the world. Her riser drilling capability permits us to drill in water depths of 2,500 m deep, and then down through 7,000 m of crust below the seafloor. The mission for D/V Chikyu is to help achieve the scientific goals of the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP). One of her key features, therefore, is the onboard coring and laboratory capability ; she can collect continuous core samples as needed, examine the samples aboard as soon as possible, and preserve cores samples as required. D/V Chikyu has an advanced ship engineering capability to install a borehole monitoring equipment as well as for riser operations, even under a strong Kuroshio Current (maximum of 6 knots). Currently being recruited for cutting-edge scientific proposals, D/V Chikyu is looking to be operated in the waters such as Atlantic as well as Mediterranean Sea and also ultra deep drilling to the oceanic mantle, through the Mohorovicic Discontinuity after completing the Nankai Seismogenic Zone drilling project. Of course she has strong interest on basic science in related to gas hydrates, deep-water bio-CCS, and hydrothermal mineralization. Although many technological and engineering challenges are needed to overcome the difficulties involved in these future drilling projects, D/V Chikyu, is ready to sail and lead scientific ocean drilling over the next 10 years with broad collaboration with the industry community.

Two optically active (100% enantiomeric excess) isomers (13a and 13b) of ofloxacin (1) [(±) -ofloxacin; DL-8280; (±) -9-fluoro-2, 3-dihydro-3-methyl-10- (4-methyl-1-piperazinyl) -7-oxo-7H-pyrido [1, 2, 3-de] [1, 4] benzoxazine-6-carboxylic acid] and their fluoromethyl derivatives (14a and 14b) were prepared via their optically active intermediates resolved by use of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The isomers (13a and 13b) were also obtained efficiently by an alternative route via separation of the diastereoisomers (18, 19) prepared in the reaction of benzoxazine (17) with L-prolinyl chloride.The (-) -isomers of 1 and its fluoromethyl derivative (2) were approximately twice as active as the corresponding racemates, while the (+) -isomers were considerably less active than the racemates.The absolute configuration at the C3 position in the oxazine ring in a series of (-) -compounds (b) was confirmed by X-ray analysis of the hydrochloride of the (-) -benzoxazine derivative (15b) to be S.

潰瘍性大腸炎において免疫学的追及を行ない胸腺T-cell系異常及びHL-Aに関し以下の知見を得た.1. 胸腺は全例Pneumomediastinography上大きく, レ線密度が強い. 組織学的には10例中6例にリンパ濾胞が証明された.2. 胸腺内T-cellは全例末梢血に比し高値であり胸腺はT-cell poolの場と考えられる.3. 末梢血T-cellは一定の傾向をみないが, PHA刺激試験12例中9例, DNCB試験9例中5例に反応性の低下を認めた.4. ヒト胎児大腸粘膜を添加した白血球遊走阻止試験で9例中7例に遊走阻止が認められた.5. 日本人の潰瘍性大腸炎35例で追及したHL-A検索では, HL-A 9及びHL-A 5が統計学的有意差で高率に認められた.
