A low pressure casting of Mg–Cu–Y melts into copper molds was found to cause amorphous bulks in a cylindrical form. The maximum diameter of the amorphous cylinder (Dc) shows a significant compositional dependence and reaches a maximum value of 4.0 mm for Mg65Cu25Y10. The compositional dependence of the Dc is similar to that for the temperature span of the supercooled liquid region, ΔTx(=Tx−Tg). The similarity is presumably because the alloy with large ΔTx has a high resistance against the nucleation and growth of a crystalline phase resulting from the formation of a disordered structure with a more dense random packing and an optimum bonding states. The compressive proof stress at an elongation of 0.2% (σp) for the Mg80Cu10Y10 cylinder was 822 MPa at room temperature and the fracture occurred along the shear plane. The σp remains unchanged up to 350 K and then decreases significantly with increasing temperature, accompanied by the change in the deformation mode from inhomogeneous to homogeneous type. There is no appreciable difference in the features of mechanical strengths and deformation behavior between the bulk and ribbon samples, indicating the similarity of the disordered structure.

本研究では,混成堤断面形状パラメータを用いて,無次元平均波力強度の予測,および衝撃砕波波力の発生が判定可能な機械学習モデルを提案する.ただし,学習用の実験データは多くないため(スモールデータ),データの重複を認めてサンプリングする復元抽出法によるアンサンブル学習を試みた.ベースとなる機械学習モデルはANNとXGBoostの2種類を用いた.無次元平均波力強度の算定結果と実験結果を比較すると,相関係数とRMSEは,ANNでは0.96, 0.15,XGBoostでは0.96, 0.14となり,ほぼ同程度であった.無次元平均波力強度が2を超えたときに衝撃砕波力が発生すると判定したときの的中率は,ANNモデルで99%,XGBoostで97%であった.

Purpose: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) clearance is essential for maintaining a healthy brain and cognition by removal of metabolic waste from the central nervous system. Physical exercise has been shown to improve human health; however, the effect of physical exercise on intrinsic CSF outflow in humans remains unexplored. The purpose of this study was to investigate intrinsic CSF outflow pathways and quantitative metrics of healthy individuals with active and sedentary lifestyles. In addition, the effect of exercise was investigated among the sedentary subjects before and after 3 weeks of physical activity.Methods: This study was performed on 18 healthy adults with informed consent, using a clinical 3-Tesla MRI scanner. We classified participants into two groups based on reported time spent sitting per day (active group: < 7 hours sitting per day and sedentary group: ≥ 7 hours sitting per day). To elucidate the effect of exercise, sedentary individuals increased their activity to 3.5 hours for 3 weeks.Results: We show that there are two intrinsic CSF egress pathways of the dura mater and lower parasagittal dura (PSD). The adults with an active lifestyle had greater intrinsic CSF outflow metrics than adults with a more sedentary lifestyle. However, after increased physical activity, the sedentary group showed improved CSF outflow metrics. This improvement was particularly notable at the lower PSD, where outflow metrics were highest among the active group.Conclusion: Our findings describe the relationship between physical activity and intrinsic CSF outflow and show a potential selective outflow pathway with increasing physical activity in the lower PSD pathway, potentially from the perivascular space or cortical venous subpial space.

In this study the validity of an accreditation system that applies a uniform standard to measure various early childhood education facilities in Indonesia was examined. Accordingly, recommendations for future accreditation systems are proposed.  The subjects of the study included formal and non-formal early childhood education facilities under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The Ministry’s policy documents, statistics, and related laws and regulations were analyzed to determine the establishment criteria for early childhood education in Indonesia, and the characteristics and results of the accreditation system.  The analysis revealed that many formal and non-formal education Facilities were rated inadequate TT because of the flexible criteria for establishing early childhood education and varying services in the facilities. However, these Facilities were reviewed uniformly with similar criteria in the accreditation process. Furthermore, parents did not base their selection of early childhood education facilities on accreditation results because TT-rated facilities were still operating post-accreditation.

Food intake is regulated by several complicated synergistic mechanisms that are affected by a variety of internal and external influences. Some of these factors include those that are released from pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses, and most of these factors are associated with suppression of the chick’s food intake. Although chicks are well-known to decrease their food intake when they experience a pathogenic challenge, the mechanisms that mediate this type of satiety are poorly understood. One of the goals of our research group has been to better understand these mechanisms in chicks. We recently provided evidence that pathogen-associated molecular patterns, which are recognized by pattern-recognition receptors such as Toll-like receptors, likely contribute to satiety in chicks that are experiencing a pathogenic challenge. Additionally, we identified several inflammatory cytokines, including interleukin-1β, tumor necrosis factor-like cytokine 1A, prostaglandins, and nitric oxide, that likely contribute to satiety during a pathogenic challenge. This review summarizes the current knowledge on pathogen-induced satiety in chicks mainly accumulated through our recent research. The research will give good information to improve the loss of production during infection in poultry production in the future.

This article deals with the problem of determining the proportion by weight of radiopacifying material needed to add to a cement clinker of mineral trioxide aggregated (CE) to comply with ISO 6876/2001 and ANSI-ADA 57 regulations for radiopacity. With this aim, CE was synthesized and mixed experimentally with 5, 10, 15, and 20 wt% of ZrO2 as radiopacifying material. Radiographic images were taken so that radiographic density was obtained and related to the mmAl scale by using an aluminum step wedge. From a theoretical point of view, absorbed intensity given by the Lambert-Beer law was calculated using mass attenuation coefficients (NIST database) for each chemical element included in each component of the cement samples. In this way, we predicted that by adding above 10 wt% of ZrO2 to the CE, the requirements stipulated by ISO 6876 for radiopacity were satisfied with discrepancies around 1 mmAl. This theoretical method gives an excellent approximation to determine the amount of radiopacifying material needed to meet the requirements stipulated by ISO.

This article reviews different studies on the gelation mechanisms and network structural characteristics in polysaccharide gels at the different length scales of observation: macroscopic, microscopic, and molecular. Rheological and micro-DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) measurements represent the macroscopic viewpoints on the gelation of pure kappa-carrageenan (KC), iota-carrageenan (IC) and KC⁄IC mixtures. Microscopic rheological properties observed using particle tracking experiments have been used to elucidate the formation of heterogeneous networks of KC-rich and IC-rich domains in mixed KC⁄IC gels, and facilitate observations of their aging process. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) relaxation time measurements provide information on the tumbling motion and local mobility; these molecular-level experiments were presented for agar, agarose, native gellan and deacylated gellan chains. NMR diffusion measurements of gelling and probe polymers give insights to the conformational changes, aggregation and network formation, and aging mechanisms, and are presented for all studied polysaccharides.

「日本・ロシア共同による中央アジア出土イラン語文書の研究」は、1980年代末のペレストロイカによるロシアの急速な政治的・文化的自由化の進行という情勢に基づいて計画された。旧ソ連体制下で日本の研究者にほとんど実見の機会が与えられていなかった、レニングラード(のちサンクトペテルブルグ)の科学アカデミー東洋学研究所所蔵の中央アジア出土写本の豊富なコレクションを実地調査すると共に、同じく国外への旅行が厳しく制限されていたロシアの研究者を日本に招聘して、中央アジアを専門領域とする日本の言語学・歴史学・宗教学者と交流を図り、また量的にははるかに少ないが貴重な遺物を蔵する大谷蒐集品(龍谷大学蔵)を比較調査してもらう、という双方にとって極めて有益な活動を実現することを目的とした。1991年に予備調査で当時のLeningradに赴いた熊本(研究代表者)は、ロシア側のVorobyova-Desyatovskaya及びLivshitsと協議の結果、大筋の計画に合意し、3年計画の科学研究費国際共同研究を申請して、これが承認された。計画初年度の1993/94年は、熊本(研究代表者)と吉田(研究分担者)が、ペテルブルグの東洋学研究所で調査を行ない、Vorobyova-Desyatovskaya(研究分担者)が来日して、東京と神戸で在ロシアの中央アジア出土写本について4回の講演を行うとともに、京都の龍谷大学で大谷探検隊蒐集の写本の調査を行なった。計画2年目の1994/95年は、熊本と吉田が再びペテルブルグを訪れて前年度の調査を続行し、Livshits(研究分担者)を日本に招聘すべく準備を整えたが、不幸にして来日直前にLivshitsの入院という事態により年度内の来日は不可能となり、代わりに吉田が年度末に3度目のペテルブルグ訪問を行なうこととなった。計画3年目の1995/96年は、前年度に来日できなかったLivshitsとVorobyova-Desyatovskayaの2人を招聘する予定で準備を行なったが、Vorobyova-Desyatovskayaの来日はビザ申請手続上の問題から、当初の予定の10月から2月に延期され、またLivshitsの来日も、すべての準備が整った出発直前の段階で急病のため中止となった。その代わりに熊本が、1月に3回目のロシア訪問をして、最後の調査を行なうことが出来た。ペテ

Observations of the geomagnetic total intensity have been carried out from time to time in a possible seismic gap region in the western part of the North Anatolian Fault Zone (NAFZ), in an attempt to trace faultlines through magnetic characteristics and also to relate the characteristics to fault activity. Here we report the results of profile measurements made across the Iznik-Mekece fault as well as our interpretation. The anomalies which we found near Iznik City are similar with the ones that have been found along the eastern part of the Iznik-Mekece fault and hence they could be interpreted in terms of a dike-like structure in the andesite zone adjacent to the fault. In this area the northern edge of the dike-like structure turns out to correspond to the faultline, providing a piece of evidence for the location of faultline. In addition, the dip angle of the dike-like structure provides information on the dip-slip constituent of the primarily right-lateral Iznik-Mekece fault.

A new salticid species of the genus Ceriomura Simon 1901 is described herein as C. momilensis n. sp. found in the dry forest of the Córdoba department in northwestern Colombia. Photographs and illustrations of the diagnostic characters for both males and females and ecological comments are provided. In addition, a distribution map, and a key with all species of the genus Ceriomura are included.

生体信号から客観的に眠気を推定する研究が行われているが,その妥当性の確認には主観的な眠気の評価との対比が不可欠である.主観的な眠気の評価方法として,運転者が自己の感覚から評価するカロリンスカ眠気尺度(KSS)と,運転者以外の他者が運転者の顔表情から評価する顔表情評定(FEE)がある.本研究では両者にどの程度の差異があるのかを,脳波α波相対パワーとKSS,FEEとの対比により検討した.
