All available magnetic data from observatories, satellites, repeat station measurements, and aeromagnetic, shipborne and land surveys are used to derive spherical harmonic models of the geomagnetic field from 1970 to 1990. Two models are derived, one using data from the DE-2 satellite the other not, since the quality of that data is unknown. These models are designated GSFC (11/90) D and GSFC (11/90) respectively. Main field coefficients are determined up to degree 13 and temporal variation, represented by B-splines, up to degree 10. Bias values at the fixed observatories were included as part of the solution. The secular variation models are smoothed by use of norm minimization. Both models fit the data very well.The resulting secular variation shows a jerk-like trend change in several coefficients near 1979.Candidate DGRF 1985 and IGRF 1990 models are extracted from the more general models by projecting to the desired epoch and using a truncated version of the main field spherical harmonic coefficients at those epochs.

1986年に登場して以来,JPEGがWebコンテンツやデジタルカメラの記録方式として多く利用されてきている.しかしながら,JPEGには注目領域(ROI)を考慮して,ROIに応じて圧縮率を可変にする機能がない.本稿は,JPEGのアルゴリズムを改良し,ROIを考慮する新しいJPEG画像を生成する手法(ROI-JPEG)を提案する.提案手法では,事前に定義したROIをもとにDCT係数を適応的に量子化することで,画像中のブロックごとの符号量をROIによって柔軟に設定することができるようになる.更に,量子化したDCT係数を逆量子化して劣化したDCT係数を生成し,これらのDCT係数に対して既存のJPEGアルゴリズムで量子化・エントロピー符号化を施すことによって,既存のJPEG復号器を変更することなく,符号化した画像を復号できる.実験では,顕著性マップ生成アルゴリズム(Ittiら,1998)1)を用いてROIを自動生成し,ファイルサイズが小さく,かつ従来のJPEGと同等な主観的品質をもつJPEG画像を作成できることを示した.

Purpose: To elucidate the indication, presentation, demographics, Stanford classification, technical efficacy, morbidity, mortality and long term patency of Wallstent for superior vena cava (SVC) syndrome.Materials and Methods: A systematic review of literature in Pubmed and Embase, CINAHL and Cochrane Library in accordance to PRIMSA was conducted. Retrieval and extraction was performed by two independent reviewers with inter-rater reliability test. The hierarchy of the evidence was assessed through the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence Checklist. Data was subjected to pooled prevalence analysis, Cox regression, Kaplan–Meir survival and test of probability using log rank analytics. This review is registered with International prospective register of systematic review: CRD42021271009.Results: A total of n=701 individuals with n=930 stents with median age of 60 (interquartile range (IQR): 26–89) years and male predominance 3.5 : 1 were identified in n=30 articles. The most common venographic classification was Stanford type II (n=344, 50%) and complete symptomatic resolution was achieved in 48 h. The 30-day morbidity was (n=62, 8%) and mortality was (n=21, 3%). Female gender was associated with higher 30-day morbidity (p<0.03). The cumulative median patency of Wallstent for non-malignant aetiology was [550 days (IQR: 14–1080) vs. 120 days (IQR: 0–925)] for malignancy (p<0.03).Conclusion: The use of Wallstent for resolution of malignancy induced SVC syndrome as a first line therapy is feasible and associated with low mortality. Their use for non-malignant aetiology demands a more in depth review and advocates further investigation.

Microvascular angina is a condition characterized by angina-like chest pain and normal coronary angiography. Endothelial dysfunction and systemic inflammation with elevated serum high-sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP) levels play a role in its pathogenesis. This study aimed to explore the possible relation between CRP, brachial flow-mediated dilatation (FMD), and microvascular angina.We included 21 patients with attacks of chest pain diagnosed as microvascular angina (study group) and 10 normal asymptomatic subjects (control group). Patients and controls were thoroughly examined clinically and by echocardiography, electrocardiography, and brachial FMD (using external brachial ultrasonography). Serum hsCRP and uric acid levels were assessed in all subjects.A significantly higher mean hsCRP level was found in the study group compared to controls (11.5 ± 3.8 versus 3.34 ± 1.5 mg/L; P < 0.001). FMD of the brachial artery showed significant impairment in patients with microvascular angina compared to controls (0.16 ± 0.06 versus 0.76 ± 0.09 mm; P < 0.001). There were significantly higher total cholesterol (196.1 ± 44.4 versus 159.8 ± 14.5 mg/dL; P = 0.018) and triglyceride levels (185.0 ± 103.2 versus 113.0 ± 17.6 mg/dL; P = 0.038) in the patients compared to controls; but there was a statistically insignificant difference in mean serum uric acid levels between these two groups. There were no significant correlations between the brachial FMD and any of the clinical variables studied (apart from ankle/brachial index). Microvascular angina may have an inflammatory element (reflected as a higher serum hsCRP level), together with a contribution by endothelial dysfunction (reflected as impaired brachial artery FMD); while serum uric acid is possibly not associated with microvascular angina.

The purpose of this study was to develop a Japanese version of the Academic Athletic Identity Scale (AAIS-J), originally developed by Yukhymenko-Lescroart (2014) and to examine the relationship between academic athletic identity and grade point average (GPA). The participants were 251 student athletes who compete at the national collegiate level (male : 155, female : 96, age : M=20.33, SD=1.18). The Academic Athletic Identity Scale (AAIS) (Yukhymenko-Lescroart, 2014) was translated into Japanese using the back-translation method, and the reliability and validity of the AAIS-J were examined. The results indicated the reliability (internal consistency) and validity (construct validity, criterion-related validity) of the AAIS-J and illustrated the scale’s usefulness. In addition, the result of examining the relationship between academic athletic identity and GPA showed that student athletes who have a higher academic identity indicated higher GPA, and higher athletic identity was also positively associated with GPA. These results indicated both similar and different results of previous studies about the relationship between student athlete identity and GPA, thus, this study provided new knowledge about Japanese student athletes. In conclusion, this study confirmed the reliability, validity and usefulness of the AAIS-J.

The genus Magadanichthys is established as a replacement name for the zoarcid fish genus Magadania Shinohara, Nazarkin and Chereshnev, 2004, which is preoccupied by an extinct brachiopod genus, Magadania Ganelin, 1977, and an extant lepidopteran genus, Magadania Kirpichnikova and Yamanaka, 2001. Magadanichthys contains only Magadanichthys skopetsi (Shinohara, Nazarkin and Chereshnev, 2004). Two new specimens caught in the sublittoral of the Shantar Islands and Sakhalin represent the southernmost records of the species. A description of the new specimens and new biological data are provided.

Sustainability is a major challenge in any plant factory, particularly those involving precision agriculture. In this study, an adaptive fertigation system in a three-tier nutrient film technique aquaponic system was developed using a non-destructive vision-based lettuce phenotype (VIPHLET) model integrated with an 18-rule Mamdani fuzzy inference system for nutrient valve control. Four lettuce phenes, that is, fresh weight, chlorophylls a and b, and vitamin C concentrations as outputted by the genetic programming-based VIPHLET model were optimized for each growth stage by injecting NPK nutrients into the mixing tank, as determined based on leaf canopy signatures. This novel adaptive fertigation system resulted in higher nutrient use efficiency (99.678%) and lower chemical waste emission (14.108 mg L-1) than that by manual fertigation (92.468%, 178.88 mg L-1). Overall, it can improve agricultural malpractices in relation to sustainable agriculture.

During prolonged exercise or work in the heat, human thermal homeostasis is first challenged, and eventually lost, as one moves from a compensable state through to uncompensable heat stress. During the first week of such exposure, work and athletic performance is most affected, and the threat of heat illness is greatest. However, given adequate time, the body will undergo a three-phase adaptation to better tolerate the heat. In this review, the principles and practices of the six primary methods by which such heat adaptation may be achieved are evaluated. One technique involves repeated exposure to both heat and exercise, and is designed to elevate and maintain a target body temperature, by varying the intensity of the work rate during the acclimation period: the controlled-hyperthermia (isothermal) technique. It is recommended that this method provides the most dependable, and least hazardous, means of adapting workers and athletes for heat stress.

Group-norm succession motivation refers to motivations for passing down group norms to the younger generation. The current study compared the effects of group identity and individualism/collectivism on group-norm succession motivation between Japan and the UK. Eighty-four university students from Japan and 132 university students from the UK were included in the analysis. The results showed that group identity positively influenced group-norm succession motivation in both Japan and the UK. Group-norm succession motivation seems to be promoted by the following two routes: responsibility for the younger generation and hoping they experience happiness and showing superiority over the younger generation.

Data sorting is an important operation in computer science. It is extensively used in several applications such as database and searching. While high-performance sorting accelerators are in demand, it is very important to pay attention to the hardware resources for such kind of high-performance sorters. In this paper, we propose three FPGA based architectures to accelerate sorting operation based on the merge sorting algorithm. We call our proposals as WMS: Wide Merge Sorter, EHMS: Efficient Hardware Merge Sorter, and EHMSP: Efficient Hardware Merge Sorter Plus. We target the Virtex UltraScale FPGA device. Evaluation results show that our proposed merge sorters maintain both the high-performance and cost-effective properties. While using much fewer hardware resources, our proposed merge sorters achieve higher performance compared to the state-of-the-art. For instance, with 256 sorted records are produced per cycle, implementation results of proposed EHMS show a significant reduction in the required number of Flip Flops (FFs) and Look-Up Tables (LUTs) to about 66% and 79%, respectively over the state-of-the-art merge sorter. Moreover, while requiring fewer hardware resources, EHMS achieves about 1.4x higher throughput than the state-of-the-art merge sorter. For the same number of produced records, proposed WMS also achieves about 1.6x throughput improvement over the state-of-the-art while requiring about 81% of FFs and 76% of LUTs needed by the state-of-the-art sorter.

In this paper, a contradiction that has developed between the key economic institution of modernity, the market, and its institutionalized practices, marketing, is explored. This paper makes observations beyond earlier discussions of this contradiction based on the history of perspectival developments in the orientations of the discipline and in marketing practices. Specifically, separation of marketing practice from consumers resulting in its conceptualization as a provisional set of activities, and the turn from a focus on needs to a focus on exchange resulting in an emphasis on the health of the market rather than on the health of the people are articulated. It is observed that these developments in marketing orientations signal a reversal of ends and means. It is argued that the modern market, its growth and prosperity, which was originally conceptualized as a means, as one institution to serve humanity's needs, is now an end, and that human beings are now in the service of the economic goals of the market. Based on these observations, the paper proposes that to develop solutions for the problems arising from the historical growth of the marketing discipline and practices in modernity, a new perspective needs to be adopted, one that conceptualizes marketing as cultural practices embedded in communities and involving consumers and organizations as partners in being mutually involved in the construction and fulfillment of human desires.
