Interviews were given to the visitors and the managing staffs of Machikado-hiroba which utilize a vacant shop in the neighborhood center. The findings are as follows. 1) More than half of the visitors are over 65 years old. The majority of visitors live within 400m from Machikado-hiroba and they come mainly on foot. 2) Machikado-hiroba plays an important role as a new communication place for the visitors, especially for the aged. 3) They use the neighborhood center more frequently than before the opening of Machikado-hiroba. 4) It is necessary to accept the need of visitors and to increase the number of younger visitors.

The traditional townscape of Kagurazaka-KAGAI is appraised by citizens and tourists, whereas the structure of this townscape is not yet clarified. This paper clarified following three points.<br>1. Prewar Kagurazaka-KAGAI provided more mysterious townscape for visitors than present condition because there are more complex network of alleys and taller buildings.<br>2. The townscape, which has been rebuilt after the war, underwent big change. But some elements of prewar building design are inherited in KAGAI's buildings. Moreover, many ordinary buildings modeled after KAGAI's buildings in Kagurazaka-KAGAI.<br>3. We need more consideration how to control a design of buildings out of Kagurazaka-KAGAI.

In Okinawa, new wooden house construction starts is very small compared with in the whole Japan. So, wooden house builders in Okinawa have many difficulties, like shortage of lumbers or carpenters. But, from the 1990s, pre-cut lumber shipped from southern Kyushu area have got used in Okinawa. With this new building method, some companies which have no experience of wooden construction moved onto wooden house construction. Most of them build small numbers of wooden houses, and do another business on the other hand. And wooden house building system is influenced by limited distribution channel as well as environmental factor.

The Ferro-Concrete structure technology was introduced into Japan in 1890s. In this paper, we try to show that a purpose of the spread played an important role for introduction of Ferro-Concrete in Japan. Various calculation formulas and sign of Ferro-Concrete ware introduced into Japan passing many separated ways and coexisted. It is thought that when it establish a law in 1920 and standardized Ferro-Concrete structure technology, economical conditions would be considered for the spread of this technology. However, the policy for the spread was changed by the damage of Kanto Earthquake (1923). And a deformed bar against the policy of the spread was removed at that time. It is thought that the introduction of Ferro-Concrete would be typical example of process to introduce new technology in Japan.

The purpose of this study is to suggest environment for the wheelchair users in a nursing home. This study focuses on behavioral patterns of elderlies from viewpoints of moving ability, transfer ability and degree of dementia, and on care of staffs. The results are as follows. (1)For the elderlies who cannot transfer by themselves, it is necessary to improve care environment and develop the tools that support transfer ability. (2)For the elderly with severe dementia, it is necessary to make a living base smaller size.

The purpose of this study is to clarify the effects of introducing adjustable wheelchairs in a nursing home.For this objective, a nursing home was surveyed by means of observations and interviews.The results are as follows. 1) The mobility of the elderly improved relatively by the use of adjustable wheelchairs. 2) The support of the seating posture became possible by the effect of the seating. The restraining straps of the wheelchair came off by the use of adjustable wheelchairs. 3) The elderlies whose behavioral patterns are improved by the use of adjustable wheelchairs are only few.lt is considered that the improvement of conciousness to the care staffs and of the surroundings which adjust the new type wheelchairs are necessary.

After World War II ended, the Case Study House Program founded by Arts & Architecture editor John Entenza in Southern California gained widespread attention through its architects' thoughtful and innovative consideration of ways to solve the severe housing shortage. This study examines these architects' conceptions of the ideal house by comparing their design theories and building compositions of these houses suggested in the Case Study House Program. While these architects were brought together through the common goal to design the ideal house, their actual designs varied considerably. Therefore, this study compares the architects' individual ideologies as expressed in their designs to examine the multifaceted aspects of this program.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the effectiveness and role of urban planning agreements in local cities and investigate the method of their partnership community planning. The conclusions are : 1. Prompted by the public enterprise to renew urban area, the agreements aimed at designing townscapes in accordance with them. 2. The agreements fill the role of a facilitator to establish a tri-lateral partnership between residents, experts and local authorities, and promote various community-building projects. 3. To hold conference chaired by experts with the assistance photos, perspectives and models could be a method of partnership community planning.

ベルリンに建つフィルハーモニー・コンサートホール(1956〜63)の設計者として有名なドイツの建築家、ハンス・シャロウン(1893〜1972)はフーゴー・へーリング(1882〜1958)、エリック・メンデルゾン(1887〜1953)、ブルーノ・タウト(1880〜1938)とともに一般に表現主義の建築家として知られている。彼らが表現主義の建築家と呼ばれるようになったのは、一般的な建築表現法を脱皮し未来の理想的な空間を絵画的な方法で表現したからである。しかしブルーノ・タウトのグラスチェーン(Glaserne Kette)書簡などに見られるシャロウンの表現主義的性向は、実際に建築物を建てるためではなく、新しい建築の可能性を模索するための幻想的な実験であった。本論文はシャロウンの建築を単に表現主義として記述している近代建築史編纂の不合理性を指摘するものである。1920年代にシャロウンが設計した二つの作品は、近代建築の概念を構成する主な要素である機能性と合理性を満足させる優秀な建物として、彼の建築を有機的な近代建築として把握するための、実証的な根拠を提供している。また、本論文は近代建築史編纂においてゲシュタルト理論がシャロウンをはじめとする有機主義の近代建築家たちを疎外させることにいかなる影響を及ぼしたかに関しても考察する。近代建築史編纂に絶大な影響を与えたゲシュタルト理論はカント美学に基づき、初期にはR.フィッシャー(1847〜1933)の象徴主義とC.フィードラー(1841〜1895)の形式美学により互いに対立する様相を呈していた。しかし、フィードラーの形式主義がH.ヴェルフリン(1864〜1945)とS.ギーディオン(1888〜1968)に継承されて以来、近代建築史は形式美学を基幹として記述されるようになる。特に新即物主義(Neue Sachlichkeit)概念の登場は1920〜30年代の主流である機械美学と組み合わされることによって、近代建築の概念を形式美学的に歪小化し、それに基づく史料編纂をするようになる。シャロウンをはじめとする有機主義者たちの非定型的な建築は形式美学的なゲシュタルト理論の下で客観性が欠如したものと受け止められ、近代建築としての価値の少ないものと理解された。したがって、ギーディオンやペヴスナーといった影響力のある近代建築史家たちは、有機主義の近代建築家たちが実は機能性に根拠を置いているという深遠な実験精神をまともに受け止めることができず、結局シャロウンは表現主義建築家としてのみ記述されるという結果をもたらした。シャロウンの建築は形式美学に基づいた近代建築の失敗以後、ポストモダニズムと脱構築主義など多くの試みのなかでもはっきりとした突破口を見つけることができずにいる現代建築が有効的に省み、応用できる優秀な建築物であると考えることができる。一方、シャロウンがフーゴー・ヘーリングの有機的建築(organisches Bauen)の影響を受けたことは周知の事実である。シャロウンの建築を単に表現主義として分類し、理解することは、シャロウンという建築家個人の建築観を誤って理解することであり、近代建築形成の一つの軸を形成している有機的な近代建築全般を誤解する結果を生む危険がある。

This research studies the wooden 3-storied hot spring inn architecture in Gunma Pref. As a result, the following became with obvious. 1. The description of the most ancient times that is related to 3-storied is 1818 years in Kusatsu hot spring. 2. 3-storied was occupying 50% of hot spring inn architecture in Minakami in Showa early period. 3. There was not the law that 3-storied prohibits in the Kusatsu hot spring in the Edo period. 3-storied was able to build even if it becomes around 1960. 4. 3-storied is built the 39 ridges in 1999 year present Gunma Pref. 5. Beside the era falls the 3-storied appearance becomes the designs that were taken up and the independence of the guest room rises.

This study aims to identify the prospect of Edo and its changes and to investigate the significance of the changes. From the Edo-Mcisho-Zue etc., we find that in the Edo period people identfied their towns on a large scale. The prospect of Edo was classified geographically into 14 types. Nowadays there remains only 4 types consisting of the near and intermidiate scenery. Prospects lack individuality and the quality of views has completly changed. Such a condition has brought about weaker relations between men and environment. From now on, we can find the significance and possibilities of prospect on local levels.

An examination of two pictorial sorces (Ichienho Sashizu, Zentsuji Garanzu) in the possession of Zentsuji temple (Zentsuji-shi, Kagawa-ken), reveals the following things about the Niju-no-hoto pagoda, described in the Nankairuroki, a document dating from 1243 (Ninji 4), as having been built by Kobo-Daishi (Kukai) : ・The Niju-no-hoto pagoda is in fact the same building as the Hokkedo, and both the upper and the lower levels were square in shape. ・In addition to the square shape of both levels, the documents reveal that the interior of the building also featured a Taizokai Mandara, and that the ceremony of Hokke Zanmai was conducted there. This is in keeping with the practices of the Tendai Sect between the late 9th and 11th centuries, and considering that the name "tahoto" came to be popular also in the Singon Sect after the middle 10th century, the building also dates from this period, between the middle 10th and 11th centunes. ・Thus, from both the shape of the building and its construction date, it is not possible to accept that it was constructed by Kobo-daishi.

Forty-eight cases of collegiate lecture rooms were psychologically assessed by students during regular classes through a semantic differential technique. Multi-variable analyses were then applied first to extract the structure of evaluation and then to predict students' satisfaction which represented the first and primary factor, namely, "overall evaluation." Other factors were "lecture content," "acoustics" and "communication." Spatial and environmental planning guidelines for enhancing students' satisfaction as interpreted from the multiple-regression equation which explained 72.3% of variance were lower students' density, higher level of illumination, curbing of natural lighting and increased main window area per total wall area. Larger room depth as well as larger desk size increased satisfaction. Illumination, however, should be given priority over room depth. Twenty to thirty percent of illumination increase should compensate twenty percent decrease in room depth.

"Housing Reform Exibition" was the exhibition held by Ofuna Denentoshi (Ofuna Suburbs) Co., Ltd. in the year 11 of Taisyo Era. In this same year. "Heiwa Kinen Tokyo Exhibition (Peace Memorial Tokyo Exhibition) /Bunka-mura was held in Tokyo, and two model house exhibitions of the Sakuragaoka Housing Reform Exhibitions were also held in Osaka. The issue of this report is to explain clearly the characteristics of the housing plans selected as the best in that exhibition, and to consider the relation between the best plans and the housing reform movement of those days. The details of the four remained constructions designed by Ofuna Denentosh (Ofuna Suburbs) Co., Ltd. will be reviewed. And make it clear that the residents of that new houses felt the change form the use of "Tatami" to "Chairs" in their main dining room, which was the focal point of the housing reform movement of that age, took place too for them.

This report describes the definite operation plan for the garden city project by Ohfuna Denentoshi Co,Ltd. Ohfuna Denentoshi Co,Ltd had 29 staffs. Building and repairs department, which had Mr. Kaoru Yamada, exclusive engineer, was consist of three sections of Building section, Civil Engineering section, and Garden section. Looking into its completed works at residencial area, we could see that its construction works were done by its scheme drawing with burying water supply and sewerage, and with barying electric power supply system, and with roads which were devided into driveways and sidewalks. For the neat rows of houses on the street, Ohfuna Denentoshi Co,Ltd had a contract not only to build houses, but also to build gardens, and constructed public facilities. However, we finded out that Ohfuna Denentoshi Co,Ltd's management condition had not been good from the beginning Ohfuna Denentoshi Co,Ltd had a large amount of debt in 1927, and wend down with only half completion of the residencial area in 1928.

本論文はミース・ファン・デル・ローエのフッベ邸(1935年)の設計過程において残されたスケッチを分析することにより、その設計過程の特質を明らかにしようとするものである。設計過程は大きく二段階に分けることができた。第一段階は平面図スケッチを通してのデザインコンセプトの決定過程であり、第二段階は透視図スケッチを通しての空間特性の詳細な決定過程である。平面図スケッチにおいては各空間のレイアウトが検討されており、計6段階に整理できた。そこでは空間構成の大きな変化が認められるが、開放的なレイアウトが次第に外壁の矩形の輪郭に収められていく過程が見出された。また東側面の開口部の配置に着目することにより、東方向への視野がデザイン上、重視されたことが推定された。その東方向の眺望をCAD透視図でシミュレーションすることにより、居間の開放性とプライベートな閉鎖空間が、眺望の微妙なコントロールによって調整されたことが明らかとなった。壁面位置の微妙な調整などの詳細な空間デザインは、ラフな透視図スケッチをいくつか描くことによって、三次元的に、また眺望の検討によって決定されていたことが、試行錯誤を示すスケッチの詳細な分析から確認された。最終段階の透視図スケッチの詳細な分析から、空間構成の枠組みが決定された後、設計助手が定規を用いた線的な透視図を描き、ミースが壁面の素材、家具、庭木や彫刻、また遠景をフリーハンドで描き込み、次第に厳密に決定されていくというプロセスを辿ったことが明らかになった。

There have been strong demands to reduce construction waste that amounts to approximately 20% of the sum of the waste of all industries in Japan. Additionally, in this decade, a considerable increase of construction waste is expected due to renewals of office buildings and houses that were constructed during the rapid growth periods in the 1960's. In order to solve the problem regarding the anticipated waste, there need to be appropriate plans in place to reduce waste at construction sites, to promote recycling, and to take hold of sufficient intermediary disposal facilities for recycling and disposal of waste. In this study we locate these intermediate disposal facilities in the Tokyo coastal areas, and examine the relationship between the amount of construction byproducts that are discharged from construction sites in Tokyo Metropolitan area and the capacities of disposal in these intermediary disposal facilities. Additionally, we have the relationship between the current situation of the intermediate disposal facilities, which is analyzed by the aquatic system in the Tokyo Metropolitan area, under investigation..

動的シミュレーションは、空気調和システムやビルディングシステムの動的挙動解析のための手法として、設計上あるいは運転管理上、次第に重要になってきている。HVACSIM^+は、1985年に米国NISTで、空気調和システムの動的シミュレーションを目的に開発されたシミュレーションプログラムで、システムの構成要素をTYPEとよばれるサブルーチンで定義し、各TYPEの入出力関係とアルゴリズムを記述することでシステムを構築していく点に大きな特徴がある。本論文では、多様なシステム・制御に対応できるよう、オリジナルのHVACSIM^+に対して、新TYPEの開発、アルゴリズムの改良等を行い、種々の要素特性、制御方式、制御パラメータを有するいくつかのケースに対して動的シミュレーションを実行し、システムの動的挙動解析とエネルギー及び室内環境評価を試みる。また、いくつかのフォルトを含むケース結果により、エネルギー消費量と室内環境に基づくシステムフォルト検知の可能性についても議論する。
