本稿では、インプロを用いたワークショップ型の初任者教員研修をオンライン開催としたとき、研修計画および事前試行ワークショップの過程、及び研修当日に何が起こり、いかなる課題が浮上したのかを記述することを目的とした。その結果、インプロワークショップをオンライン型初任者研修として実施することの課題は、「いま、ここにいないこと」、すなわち、ファシリテーター(講師)及び受講者が同じ空間に集い、身体をつきあわせて空間を共有できないことによって生じていることが見出された。今後もオンライン型研修が継続されるのであれば、「いま、ここにいない」からこそ生まれるおもしろさを探究し、それを研修のなかに組み込んでいく必要性があると指摘した。

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of pulmonary arteriovenous computed tomography (CT) value and CT value difference on the pulmonary arteriovenous automatic extraction ability of a medical workstation. We classified patients who previously underwent contrast-enhanced CT as those with a pulmonary arteriovenous CT value difference of <50 Hounsfield unit (HU) and ≥100 HU. The groups were further divided into four subgroups each, with a total of eight groups, based on low pulmonary arteriovenous CT values of 200 or more and <250 HU, 250 or more and <300 HU, 300 or more and <350 HU, and 350 HU or more. A radiographer conducted a visual evaluation, and we judged whether it could extract pulmonary arteries A1–A10 and pulmonary veins V1–V10 without errors. When the CT value difference was <50 HU, the low pulmonary arteriovenous CT value of 200 or more and <250 HU significantly decreased the extraction ability compared with the ≥350 HU group (p<0.05), but when the CT value difference was ≥100 HU, no difference in the CT value was found. The pulmonary arteriovenous CT value and CT value difference affect the pulmonary arteriovenous automatic extraction ability of the medical workstation, but revision by the creator is necessary because misrecognition is included even if a CT value and CT value difference is high.

Translation is a complex event of performing intercultural communication and the concept of equivalence in translation is full of scandals. This paper explores the discourse of equivalence in relation to theories and applications of translation. Even if translational equivalence in terms of form or meaning between different languages is too naïve to be postulated, the illusion of equivalence remains one of the key words in distinguishing translation from non-translation. The author will first review a main stream of Translation Studies in the European and North American academia, focusing on how the concept of equivalence gave rise to the academic discipline of translation and later became criticized as a rigid linguistic model of analyzing symmetrical texts and making translators invisible. Following that review, Japanese discourse on translation by two antipodal theorists, NOGAMI Toyoichiro and YANABU Akira, will be highlighted to open up the current discussions about the imagined translational equivalence in a Japanese context.

The coming of electricity to the Pacific Northwest during World War II was expected to provide new possibilities not only for economic growth but also for social transformation. This paper explores the various aspects of cultural representations of the development of the Columbia River basin, which extends between the states of Oregon and Washington. In the first part of this study, attention is paid to the narrative techniques used in two government-funded promotional films about dam construction produced by Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). After examining the rhetorical strategies that were employed in the BPA films to propagate the necessity of river development, our analysis turns to several songs sung and composed by Woody Guthrie, that were included in one of the films. Our discussion foregrounds this curious combination: a politically radical folk singer from the Midwest and a federal power agency rooted in the Northwest. Finally, we analyze several literary works that critically depict the Columbia River development and its aftermath. A careful comparative review of those works reveals the political unconsciousness of the region in the decades after the New Deal.

Recent studies have indicated that A Tale of Two Cities depicts the French Revolution as a critical period in which information technologies had developed and information transmission had accelerated and that it thereby represents the idea that social changes and technological development are inseparable. Those studies, however, have paid little attention to the end of Book 2 and the beginning of Book 3 of the work. These chapters clearly illustrate the impact of the means of communication on people’s lives, making them the most significant part of this work of fiction in regard to its consciousness of communication. This paper verifies that the aforementioned chapters are crucial for comprehending the understanding of the media presented in this work. This study first focuses on the dates of events in which those chapters progress. The time they span is sufficient to deliver messages from Paris to London by telegraph but is not long enough to do so without electric wires. It then reaffirms the meaning of the dates by examining the fact that Charles Dickens had set this scene in winter before changing his manuscript. Finally, it analyses Darnay’s travel across the English Channel, which is repeatedly impeded, to clarify that this novel delineates the substantial gap of communication between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

【目的】東日本大震災を体験した看護管理職が、災害にどのような点で苦労したのかを把握し、看護管理職の退職意向との関係を探索的に検討する。【方法】同震災発生から4年後に、被災地域内13医療施設77名の看護管理職を対象に個別配布・郵送回収による質問紙調査を実施した。調査期間は2015年6–7月であり、68名から有効回答(88.3%)を得た。【結果】多くの看護管理職が業務多忙による苦労を経験していた。退職したいと思った人は61.8%であり、退職意向に影響する要因として、震災後の職場の雰囲気の悪化や職場の人間関係の板挟みになることによる苦労が影響していた。しかし、看護管理職に行われた心理支援は11.8%にとどまっていた。【考察】被災した看護管理職の苦労として「人間関係の問題」があり、この問題が退職意向に結びついていた。
