研究活動報告(Research and Activity Reports)同志社大学大学院総合政策科学研究科では、イタリアで発祥した「スローフード運動」関係者・関係機関との交流を2006年より行ってきた。これは本研究科のソーシャル・イノベーション研究コース(以後、SI研究コース)開設にあたり、「いのちと農と食」の問題を重要かつ優先すべき社会的課題としてとらえ、その解決のための取り組みの思想的バックボーンとしてスローフードの理念に大いに共感したことによる。2007年6月には本研究科と「食科学大学(Università degli Studi di Scienze Gastronomiche:以後UNISGと表記)」が学術交流協定を締結し、そしてUNISGの海外研修旅行(Stage)の訪問先に日本・京都が選ばれ、本研究科が2007年6月、2008年6月の2回、研修プログラムを提供した。本稿ではその経緯と成果について報告する。

Metallo-supramolecular polymers (MSPs) are a novel type of electrochromic (EC) materials. Ru(II)-based MSP (polyRu) composed of Ru(II) and bis(terpyridyl)benzene showed reversible color changes between orange and pale green. The orange color was caused by the metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) absorption in polyRu and disappeared by the electrochemical oxidation of Ru(II) to Ru(III). The pale green was returned to the original orange by the electrochemical reduction of Ru(III) to Ru(II). EC devices with polyRu were fabricated by the combination of an electrolyte solution, counter material, and two ITO glasses. The character images were displayed on the EC devices using insulating films. The insulating films prevented the electron transfer between the ITO glass and the polyRu layer and made the image stand out in the device. The fabricated EC display devices were presented at a science museum of Japan as experience-based exhibits.

Electrochromic (EC) displays are expected as energy-saving smart windows or digital signages because of the memory property. We succeeded in developing a designed and flexible electrochromic (EC) display device with Fe(II)-based metallo-supramolecular polymer (polyFe) using a mechanically etched ITO film. Mechanical etching an ITO film was performed with a cutting machine having a blade of which length was adjusted so as not to cut off the film. The fabricated EC device was composed of the etched ITO film, a polyFe layer, an electrolyte layer, a nickel hexacyanoferrate layer as the counter material, and another ITO film. The EC device showed unique changes of the display upon applying a voltage of 1.5 V between the two ITO electrodes. It was revealed that the EC changes were controlled by the etching pattern such as a closed circle or the formation of a narrow ITO path.

健康への悪影響が懸念される精神保健分野の課題の1つであり,かつ障害予防歯科における課題でもある精神障害者の口腔衛生問題に関し,統合失調症患者に対する口腔衛生支援の促進をめざし,1)国内外の文献による統合失調症患者における口腔衛生研究動向を概観し,2)今後のわが国の統合失調症患者に対する効果的な口腔衛生支援のあり方と課題を考察した。国内研究では事例報告と口腔衛生調査結果が示されていた。国外研究では,口腔衛生調査結果と統合失調症に特有の口腔衛生に関する概説とが示されていた。それらの内容検討から,口腔衛生指導に関する疫学研究の促進,および口腔衛生指導の実践・導入のための組織的な支援体制の整備,さらにわが国の精神保健医療福祉システムに則した効果的な支援方法の検討が必要であると考えられた。

Chikio Hayashi has conducted a variety of medical research throughout the wholecourse of his life and made many remarkable achievements in the field of medicine. Dur-ing his long carrier, he always noticed: “In clinical medicine we, the researchers, have tokeep in mind that we are not merely dealing with numbers or things, but we are dealingwith human life which is a part of society. They are people, patients who suffer fromdiseases. Therefore, in statistical analysis of clinical data, researchers have to considerthat these data were taken from human life.” In this paper, we have tried to followDr. Hayashi’s footprints and focus on his initial interest in clinical medical researchin the early 1950’s to the establishment of his methodology, “data science” in the late20th century. First, we reviewed the times he engaged in medical studies along withother specialists of medicine. Secondly, we reviewed the times he rebuilt the concepts of“risk factors” which has been used traditionally in clinical medicine from the patients’point of view. Lastly, we shed light on how Dr. Hayashi’s methodology, “data science”is suitable for dealing with complex problems in clinical medicine.

In recent years, narcissistic personality is seen as a trait especially among young people. This personality traithas an ambivalent feature that unsettled self-valuation easily influenced by others, while it is energetic and aself-centered, being filled with confidence. In this research, we examined the relationship between narcissistic personalityand five ego states -critical parent (CP), nurturing parent (NP), adult (A), free child (FC), adapted child (AC), using theEgogram. Moreover, in order to consider the relevance to narcissistic personality and mental health, we measureddepression as a negative side of mental health and subjective happiness as a positive side. The results showed that CP, Aand FC increased narcissistic personality. CP reflected the authority, dominant and exclusive characteristics. A reflectedcool and not confused attitude by the others' feeling. FC reflected the less consideration for others and selfish behavior.From these results, this study confirmed the features of the narcissistic personality more clearly. Finally, the subjectswith high narcissistic personality had lower depression and higher subjective happiness than the subjects with lownarcissistic personality. The narcissistic personality was supposed to be the factor to enhance the mental health.

The historical interpretation of the British industrial revolution has undergone a significant change since the 1960s. The publication of British Economic Growth, 1688-1959 by P. Deane and W. A. Cole in 1962 marked an epoch by applying national accounting methods to eighteenth- and nineteenth-century historical data. Their stage-specific estimates of real gross domestic product (GDP) growth were thought to reflect the acceleration process of industrial and GDP growth in the c.1760-1830 period, during which a series of innovations are said to have revolutionised the scene of manufacturing. However, this interpretation was radically revised by Nick Crafts' 1985 book, British Economic Growth during the Industrial Revolution. With his estimates of slower rates of GDP growth and arguments derived from growth accounting analysis, it is suggested that the contribution of new technologies (such as steam engine) to output growth was surprisingly low, taking more time in harvesting the fruit of a general-purpose technology (GPT) than we tended to assume. The thesis of slow growth was reconfirmed by a 1992 joint-paper by Crafts and Knick Harley and the growth accounting scenario by Crafts' own 2018 book. (View PDF for the rest of the abstract.)

SSL/TLSなどのセキュリティプロトコルでは,通信に暗号化/復号といった高負荷な演算処理を伴うため,システム全体のパフォーマンスの低下や暗号処理のスループットの低下を招く.本論文では,その解析をするため,SSL/TLSを用いた通信のパフォーマンスを測定し,SSLハンドシェイクにおける暗号処理の割合を計測した.それによって暗号処理がSSL/TLS処理にどの程度影響を与えるのかを調査し報告する.
