新型コロナウイルス感染症(COVID-19)流行の問題は,確かに高齢者において重症化しやすく,結果的に残念ながら命を落とした方々も少なくない.しかし,新たな感染症の課題を新たに示しているだけではなく,流行前から持ち合わせていた様々な地域課題や社会課題をより早期に見える化したのであろう.ポストコロナ社会を見据え,個々の国民に何を伝え,さらに新たな地域社会づくりにどう反映させるのか,ここは大きな分岐点になるだろう.この課題は,ポストコロナ時代において,人のQOLのあり方はどう変わっていくべきかを意味している.ワクチンや治療薬の確立と同時に,真の人間中心社会に向けて,「我々の忘れてはならない原点」と「次世代の新しい地域コミュニティ像(新たなデジタル社会含む)」の両方を実現しながら,人と人との心を近づけ,絆を感じ,豊かな社会にむけた新たな価値を全世代に創造してくれることを期待したい.

In the field of radiation protection, quality factor Q (L) and radiation weighting factor wR are important coefficients for estimating both radiation protection and operational quantities to the mixed types of radiation exposure. However, some inconsistencies might be found between Q (L) and wR for estimating effective dose, for example. Some inconsistencies are attributed to incomplete definition of terms Q (L) and wR. This report presents the root and evolution of quality factor Q (L) and radiation weighting factor wR for the years 1931-2007, to clarify the current issues of inconsistencies to be solved.

本章では,計測された時系列データの変動特性を解析するための基本的なツールであるフーリエ変換によるスペクトル解析の基礎について説明する.実験データにスペクトル解析を適用する際に留意すべき点を明らかにする.また相関関数とスペクトルの関係について解説し,スペクトルの理解に資する.クロススペクトルやバイスペクトルなど,さらに進んだ解析手法についても概説する.説明した手法を実際のプラズマ揺動データに適用し,得られた解析結果に対して解釈を与える.

The "Act on Procedures for the Amendment of the Constitution of Japan" (hereafter "the Act") was revised on June 13, 2014. There had been some confusion under the Act before the revision, as the Act had failed to clearly define whether the voting age was 18 or 20. The revision to the Act solved this problem, but several new issues arose, in its place: (1) whether adults in Article 15, Paragraph 3 of the Constitution should be treated the same way as persons who have reached the age of adulthood in the Civil Code, (2) whether the lowering of the age of adulthood in the Civil Code harms consumers, (3) whether or not the age of full suffrage should be lowered to 18, and (4) whether the age of voting rights should be treated in the same way as the age of full suffrage. These issues will be examined in this paper.

Many proteins form complexes that function in reaction pathways. Therefore, to understand protein function, it is necessary to reconstitute complexes and pathways in vitro. However, it is not straightforward to achieve full activity in reconstituted systems. To address this problem, we present a yeast system named "in saccharo" analysis, which uses budding yeast for simultaneous expression and analysis of many kinds of non-host proteins, such as human proteins. For this purpose, vectors that can accommodate many genes are required. Here, we describe the construction of a chromosome vector by insertion of unique barcode sequences (BCs) into the ribosomal RNA gene repeat (rDNA). Each unit of the rDNA has a BC that is used as the target for integration of an external gene. Because rDNA is naturally capable of maintaining many repetitive copies, the vector is expected to retain the numerous external genes that may be required for reconstitution of functional protein complexes and reaction pathways. Consistent with this prediction, we were able to clone three human genes that form the RNA silencing pathway, which has no functional equivalent in budding yeast, and to demonstrate functionality in this in saccharo analysis system.

ソクラテスはなぜアテナイ市民から死刑判決を受け、殺されたのであろうか?魂は何度となく生まれ変わっているのであり、だから何が真理であるかを魂は実は全て知っているのであり、ただ忘れているだけなのである。だから、それを思い出させてやればいいだけなのである、というソクラテスの想起説がもし本当に正しかったとするならば、なぜソクラテスは対話相手から憎悪されたのであろうか?ソクラテスは自分が真理と思っているものを相手に無理に押しつけたわけではない。真理は元々相手の心の中にあったのである。ソクラテスはそれを引き出したに過ぎない。鍵は、忘れていたかったことを思い出させたということにある。忘れたという形で覚えているというこの微妙な自己欺瞞にある。本稿ではキルケゴ−ルの『哲学的断片』を用い、なぜソクラテスは相手から憎悪を引き出してしまったのか、この問題を探る。Why was Socrates executed? In this paper I consider this problem with reference to Kierkegaard's "Philosophical Fragment". If Socrates' theory of recollection was correct, it is difficult to understand why Socrates was hated by his partner in dialogue after helping to remember the truth which was only sleeping in his mind. Here Kierkegaard's point that man opposes the truth is very helpful. Manforgets the truth because he wants to forget it. But Socrates compels him to remember the truth, so the partner is angered by Socrates who breaks the good balance of remembrance and forgetting. Perhaps, strange as it may sound, man has to remember the truth in order to forget it. In order to forget the truth, man always needs to watch it carefully so that it may not rise to the surface of hisconsciousness. Even Socrates had a fear of the fury of his partner, but Socrates endured it and continued his dialogue. Usually we learn to hold our tongue to tell the truth in front of the subtle angry look which comes over the partner's face. It is a social rule of mankind. But Socrates disregarded this fundamental rule, so he was sentenced to death.

It is important when developing effective and safe pharmaceutical products to select adequate active components and formulations as well as to design their containers and devices. Minoxidil was developed as a direct over-the-counter (OTC) drug in 1999 and has long been marketed only by one original company. Recently, many generic products have been marketed. However, the shape and type of the containers for these generic products differ from that of the original product, leading to a possibility that the amount of minoxidil applied by patients may differ. In the present study, the original and three typical generic products with 5% minoxidil external formulations were evaluated for their filling amounts, single application amounts, extent of distribution on application, ability to reach the scalp, and dripping properties. As a result, statistically significant differences were found in the filling amounts and ability to reach to the scalp between the products due to differences in the nozzle shape of the container. In addition, a large variation was observed in some of the generic products in terms of the drug liberation. These results indicate that it is important to suitably design and adequately evaluate the container for OTC products such as minoxidil formulations, which can exhibit toxicity from overuse, and that are easily purchased by consumers.

魚油には, ドコサヘキサエン酸 (DHA) やエイコサペンタエン酸 (EPA) といったn-3系多価不飽和脂肪酸が豊富に含まれている。これらの脂肪酸は, 心血管系疾患, がん, 炎症の予防に有効であるため, 生物学的に重要な脂質として広く認められている。さらに, 魚油, 特にDHA, の摂取は, 脳の発達, 記憶学習能, 視覚機能に影響するということが多くの研究で明らかにされている。最近では, 痴呆症や精神障害に及ぼすDHA油の予防及び治療効果が報告されている。この総説では, 魚油の健康機能についてまとめると同時に, 高齢者の知能や視力に及ぼすDHA油の効果についてのデータも紹介する。
