東京電力福島第一原子力発電所事故翌年の2012年と2013年に,福島県南相馬市の森林において,林木に含まれる放射性セシウムの分布を調べた。放射性セシウムの大部分は枝葉と樹皮に検出されたが,個体や個体内の部位によって大きな濃度差があった。スギでは幹木部でも放射性セシウム濃度が 1 Bq/g を超える試料もあった。とくに高い位置の幹木部では辺材より心材に高濃度で分布していた。事故時に根系から切り離されていた幹の木部にも含まれていたことなどから,幹木部の放射性セシウムは経根吸収したものではなく枝葉などで吸収され移行したものと推察した。

The Jerusalem section of The Master and Margarita (1929?-40) is a story of a man of agony, the cruel fifth Procurator of Judea, Pontius Pilate, who executed a vagrant philosopher, Yeshua Ha-Nozri, knowing his innocense. In this section, which is written as a historical novel independent of supernatural phenomena, there is an enigmatic figure who rules its world secretly: Afranius, the chief of the secret service to the Procurator. The enigma of Afranius lies in his false report to Pilate of the last moment of Yeshua on the cross: the chief didn't tell him the fact that Yeshua had accepted his atonement and died forgiving him for his conviction; on the contrary, he described Yeshua as if he had ridiculed Pilate and gave him the false words of the philosopher that "cowadice is one of the worst human sins." Having heard the report, Pilate became aware of his sin. so that he instigated the chief to assasinate the betrayer Judas of Karioth in revenge for Yeshua's death. In that sense, it was Afranius who kept Pilate on a string to let him do "evil" of the assasination. The figure of Pilate is not a typical Bulgakovian "coward" who often appears in the earlier novels of Bulgakov, such as the hero of The Red Crown (1992): Pilate is not a passive "coward" who finds no hope and is always in despair, but an active "coward" who tries to do anything, even "evil," to expiate one's sins like Frudov of The Flight (1925-8). At the end of the whole novel, Pilate is led to the world of "light or good" for his activeness. He stands in contrast to The Master of the Moscow section who is a typical passive "coward" so that he only has earned "rest". If we admit the systematical consistency of The Master and Margarita and analize the two "cowards" of the two sections in comparison, we must find out the figures who help the decision of their fates as well: in the Moscow section it is Woland, the Faustian devil, who leads The Master to the fate of "rest"; in the Jerusalem section the other who leads Pilate to the fate of "light"-must be Afranius! He is nothing but a Mephistophelian figure which is the "part of that power which eternally wills evil and eternally works good" (the epigraph from Faust). Thus, in The Master and Margarita there is not only a single Mephistopheles who controls the Moscow section and determine the fate of the hero, but also another Mephistopheles in the Jerusalem section to do the same work. Bulgakov has the device to give the function to the the devils to develop the both stories. His effort leads to the reconstruction of the whole novel as a newly organized evangel, "The Evangel by Bulgakov."

本研究は,人々が公共図書館と書店にもつイメージについて調査,分析,考察することを目的としたものである.図書館情報学をコースとして選択している大学生と,実際に公共図書館を利用している人を対象に,公共図書館と書店について抱いているイメージの内容についてのアンケート調査を行い,その結果を分析,比較した.大学生は,書店のイメージの方が図書館に比べてややポジティブなイメージをもつ項目が多いことが判明した.実際に公共図書館を利用している人にも同様の質問を行ったところ,公共図書館と書店のイメージの差が学生の場合よりも小さく,公共図書館と書店のどちらに対しても比較的ポジティブなイメージをもつ傾向があることが分かった.また,書店は気軽に立ち寄れる場というイメージがあることがわかった.

朝日放送は,関西エリアでテレビ放送とラジオ放送を行うテレビ朝日系列の準キー局である。「探偵!ナイトスクープ」や「新婚さんいらっしゃい!」といった番組は朝日放送の制作だ。 同局は2008年5月に大阪市北区から大阪市福島区の新社屋へ移転した。新社屋は,地下1階,地上16階建てのビルである。新社屋の建設に合わせて社内ネットワークも最新の設備へと切り替えた。

本研究では,東日本大震災直後よりあらゆる主体の航空機が飛来した花巻・山形・福島空港を対象に,救助活動などの重要な拠点となった空港がどう使われたのかを明らかにした.震災直後の空港運用上課題となった航空機の飛来数および駐機スペース不足に焦点をあて,主体別目的別の離着陸状況,駐機状況の変化について分析を行った.さらにそれを補うため各空港の管理者や運航主体へのインタビュー調査を実施し,各空港が如何にして多数の航空機を処理し,災害対応活動を支援したかを明らかにした.その結果,震災直後の空港には通常時の6倍~10倍の航空機が飛来したこと,発災後72時間以内の救助活動,救急搬送が多くなることがわかった.さらにインタビュー調査より,駐機スペースに工夫を凝らしていたことや燃料補給体制の課題などが明らかとなった.

[Synopsis] The biodiversity in Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony is presented for discussion. The season of this symphony was inferred to be early summer, according to the song of birds (2nd movement), and the other motives of this symphony. Beethoven had recognized at least three species of birds; nightingale, quails, and cuckoo, and might have had a great interest in many plants and animals based on the many motives of this symphony. In this symphony, especially the final movement, Beethoven arrived at a conclusion of coexistence of nature and humans. [要約] ベートーヴェン作曲交響曲第6番「田園」における生物多様性について、考察した。初めに「田園」の季節について考察してみたが、よく言われていように、初夏の情景と考えられた。ベートーヴェンは少なくともサヨナキドリ(ナイチンゲール)、ウズラ、カッコウ、の3種類の野鳥を識別でき、これ以外にホオジロにも関心があったと思われる。その他にも、曲想からして、いろいろな生物をこの曲に取り入れていたと思われ、それらに対する、いつくしみの感情も強かったと思われた。第5楽章では、自然と人間の調和という結論に達していたように推察された。

Ensemble forecasts with 101 members (including one ensemble mean) using ensemble Kalman filter analysis were performed to understand the atmospheric conditions favorable for the development of a meso-β-scale vortex (MBV) that caused shipwrecks as a result of sudden gusty winds in the southwestern part of the Sea of Japan on 1 September 2015. A composite analysis was performed to reveal differences in the structure of the MBV and atmospheric conditions around the MBV between the strongest eight (STRG) and weakest ten (WEAK) ensemble members, where two of the strongest ten members that developed the MBV much earlier than the other members were excluded from the analysis. The analysis shows that near-surface cyclonic horizontal shear to the northeast and the south of the MBV was stronger for STRG than for WEAK. In addition, larger low-level water vapor and its horizontal flux for STRG contribute to greater convective available potential energy to the southeast of the MBV, resulting in stronger convection around the MBV. The results of the composite analysis are also statistically supported by an ensemble-based sensitivity analysis. Differences in near-surface horizontal shear were closely related to the structure of the extratropical cyclone in which the MBV was embedded. Although the strength of the extratropical cyclone for STRG was comparable with that for WEAK, the cyclonic horizontal shear of winds in the northeastern quadrant of the extratropical cyclone was greater for STRG than for WEAK.

Photocatalysis has been widely applied to solar-energy conversion and environmental purification. Photocatalyst, typically titanium dioxide (TiO2), produces active oxygen species under irradiation of ultraviolet light, and can decompose not only conventional pollutants but also different types of hazardous substances at mild conditions. We have recently started the study of photocatalytic decontamination of chemical warfare agents (CWAs) under collaboration with the National Research Institute of Police Science. This article reviews environmental applications of semiconductor photocatalysis, decontamination methods for CWAs, and previous photocatalytic studies applied to CWA degradation, together with some of our results obtained with CWAs and their simulant compounds. The data indicate that photocatalysis, which may not always give a striking power, certainly helps detoxification of such hazardous compounds. Unfortunately, there are not enough data obtained with real CWAs due to the difficulty in handling. We will add more scientific data using CWAs in the near future to develop useful decontamination systems that can reduce the damage caused by possible terrorism.
