There are three pegmatites in Ryuen mine, Fukuoka Prefecture, which intruded in Masaki granite of the middle Cretaceous. The U-Pb age of uraninite from a pegmatite has been chemically determined as 100×106 years by Kimura and Iimori (1937). Uraninite was collected from the other pegmatite, of which mode of occurrence was different from the above mentioned uraninite. It occurred in chlorite vein cut the pegmatite. In order to know whether or not any measurable time interval existed between the pegmatite solodification and the vein formation, isotopic U-Pb age was determined on the uraninite from the chlorite vein. The age of uraninite is 110×106 years and the formation of chlorite vein continued immediately after the solidification of pegmatite.

The fraction of marriages between South Korean males and brides from other Asian countries has sharply increased since 1990 reaching around 10% of new marriages in 2005. We employ a large data set collected in 2012 to investigate the impact of citizenship acquisition of these brides on their bargaining power in the household and labor market. We employ propensity score matching using detailed information of brides, their spouses, and households required for nationality application. Our results show that legal entitlement of marriage immigrants raises the chance of being hired as a regular worker and increases decision power in a household. The findings in this paper imply that a legal framework is an important determinant of the bargaining power of immigrants in the labor market and households.

A 52-year-old woman with ulcerative colitis was admitted to our hospital for an ulcerative colitis flare-up under salazosulfapyridine therapy. The symptoms improved with high-dose corticosteroids. After prednisolone was tapered to 10 mg, the frequency of diarrhea increased. The diarrhea was accompanied by joint pain and a skin ulcer with abscess formation, which was diagnosed to be pyoderma gangrenosum. The patient was started on adalimumab. A positive response to the adalimumab therapy was observed after 2 weeks, during which time the ulcerative skin lesion healed completely, however, colonic mucosal healing was achieved at 2 months. Therefore, adalimumab appears to be an effective therapeutic option for patients with ulcerative colitis-associated pyoderma gangrenosum.

According to traffic accident reports, many of the accidents that occur at intersections are caused by elderly drivers, and development of an assistant system that can prevent non-stopping accidents (i.e., accidents that occur by not stopping when required) is currently a pressing need. To develop an anti-stopping alert, it has been assumed that an alarm that informs the driver about the impending approach of an intersection is effective. However, a uniform alarm system cannot be expected to influence the individual differences among elderly drivers. Then, audio-visual assistance systems that consist of a nudge that informs drivers about the existence of an intersection and of an approach alarm that follows the nudge, as well as of a display and a warning with sound and voice, were designed based on the timing when braking occurs and on a given elderly drivers braking behavior when approaching an intersection. In this research, considering an elderly drivers cognition, judgment capability, and individual driving abilities, and while investigating individual elderly drivers vision capabilities and judgment functions, a questionnaire survey on the posture and concerns about driving was conducted in advance. Subsequently, using the driving simulator of a city road, the driving behavior of an elderly driver from braking behavior to stopping performance was observed; furthermore, driving behavioral changes following the proposed driving assistance alarm were analyzed. The result of our analysis demonstrated that elderly drivers differed in their response to the assistance alarm according to their cognition and judgment capabilities, their experience, and driving style. The proposed systems effectiveness was apparent when the alarm was adapted to each individuals capabilities.

笑いに関する研究が国内でも本格的に行われるようになって久しい。大学でも笑い学、ユーモア学の名称で授業を行い、笑い学という領域が確実に構築されている。笑いそのものの考察に限らず、笑いと日本人、日本文化に関する研究も少しずつ行われている。これまで江戸期の滑稽に関する笑いの研究はすぐれた専攻研究が多くあるが、それ以降の時代の笑いに関する研究は十分に行われていない。本稿では、基礎研究の一環として、明治期に出版された笑いに関連する書籍の目録をまとめた。本稿で扱う「笑い」は、滑稽、頓智などに限定せず、言語遊戯、風俗など、笑いを起こす要素を持つものを広く対象としている。目録としてだけではなく、通史的に編纂することで、明治期を通しての笑いの在り方を考察できるように試みた。また、インターネットで利用できるデジタル資料情報、国立国会図書館で所蔵形態についての情報も付け加えた。
