反応系に含まれる原子をその同位体で置換することによって生じる反応速度の変化(反応速度向位体効果)は,触媒反応機構を考察する上に有用な知見を与える.ここでは,その理論的背景について概説した後,最近の適用例の中で,反応速度向位体効果に基づいてどのような議論がなされているかを述べる.

音楽との能動的な接し方の特徴は, 自分なりの音楽表現という創造性の発揮にある.しかし現実には音楽理論や楽器操作技術の困難により, 多くの人は能動的な音楽との接触を諦めている.筆者らは, これらの困難を計算機で支援することにより, だれでも容易に創造的音楽表現に取り組める楽器の実現を目指している.本論文では, そのための手段として, 音機能固定マッピング手法を提案する.従来の楽器は音高を演奏インタフェース上の固定ポジションにマッピングする音高固定マッピング型の楽器であった.しかし, 音には音高以外の属性があり, その1つとして, 音楽的環境に応じて個々の音が人に様々な情動的作用を与える, 機能という属性がある.音機能固定マッピングとは, 常時一定の演奏ポジションに一定の機能を持つ音をマッピングする手法である.ある音の機能の判定には音楽理論に基づく解析が必要であるが, この手法によれば, 演奏者は必要な機能を持つ音を理論的解析を行うことなく直接取り出せ, さらにそれらを自由に組み合わせるとこにより, 容易に自分なりの創造的音楽表現を実現できるようになる.本論文では, 特に音の機能の考え方が重要となるジャズの即興演奏を対象として作成した試作器と, それを用いた被験者実験について説明し, 本手法の可能性について検討する. : Many people cannot help but give up to play music because of difficulty of a musical theory or a manipulation of a musical instrument. The authors aim to develop a musical instrument with which anyone can enjoy creating of music with the support of a computer. In this paper, we propose a concept called the"fixed mapping of note-functions". With an ordinary musical instrument, a specific pitch is always mapped on a specific position of the instrument; this is a"fixed mapping of pitch"instrument. However, a note has other attributes. A note-function, i.e., the emotional effect of a note depending on the temporal musical situation, is one of them. The mapping of a specific note-function on a specific position is the basis of the"fixed mapping of note-functions"concept. In order to determine the note-function, a theoretical analysis is usually necessary. Using the proposed method, however, it becomes possible to directly extract notes with the required functions without any theoretical considerations and to exhibit creativity by combining the notes. In this paper, we show a prototype of an instrument for improvisational jazz, provide several subjective experimental results and dsicuss the possibilities of the method.

To evaluate how the deposition of journal articles in Institutional Repositories(IRs) affects the number of citations and e-journal usage, we placed some articlespublished in Zoological Science in two IRs, and compared their use in IRswith e-journals, as well as with the number of resulting citations between 2008and 2009. The results reveal that deposit in IRs did not reduce e-journal usage.Moreover, whereas the journals gained new readers, this did not have an effecton the number of citations.

Nishi Amane 西周, was one of the first Japanese students sent to Europe by the shogunate government. In addition to the knowledge of the Western Learning, Nishi had solid foundation of the philosophy of Zhu Xi 朱熹 as well as that of Ogyu Sorai 荻生徂徠, the latter enabled him to view the former relatively. While in Holland, Nishi studied under Professor S. Vissering of Leiden University, who offered him lectures consisting of five subjects instrumental in building a new nation. Nishi also learned French and made a considerable progress in philosophy which he considered as the basis for every academic discipline. Nishi found that the Modern Western Learning was superior to the Oriental Learning, because it was based on the principle of the dignity and equality of all human beings. After returning home, Nishi translated and published the lectures of Professor Vissering. Yoshino Sakuzo 吉野作造 highly praised them as “the only light illuminating the world of darkness” for those who wanted to understand the way the Modern Western societies were constructed. In transplanting the Western Modern Learning, Nishi deliberately originated technical terms such as ʻenʼeki, (演繹 deduction) ʼ ʻkinou (歸納 induction), ʼ ʻtetsugaku (哲學philosophy), ʼ etc., after giving serious consideration to the accumulated knowledge of Han learning in Japan. Nishiʼs work paved the way for the formation of the “Cultural Sphere” in Modern East Asia.

In this paper, the figure of "Katago" that appears in the tales of old Japan will be analyzed and the issue of the Japanese returnee students and the present Japanese culture will be discussed. Katago is a 10 year old boy born between a father who is an oni (Japanese ogre) and mother (Japanese) who was taken away by Oni to his country. Katago dedicates himself to bring his mother back to Japan and they finally succeed in returning to Japan. However, he finally commits suicide because of having difficulties living with Japanese people. According to Kawai(Kawai,1994), most of the stories where Katago suffers from his/her duality, being a ogre and a human at the same time, ends with his death. Kawai analyzes the "Katago" from a cultural and psychological perspective and he concludes although Katago's death is almost inevitable, it is the task of Japanese culture not letting the Katago die, as he entails indispensable elements to regenerate the Japanese culture. However, the following two points have not been sufficiently examined; The first point is "why" the Katago has trouble living in Japan. And the second point is what actually happens in the psyche of Katago that leads to his death. The third point is, what kind of possibilities exists that enable Katago to live. Hence, the three points have been examined and discussed on the basis of some case studies children raised up by two different cultures and societies.

図書館が扱う学術情報は,電子ジャーナルやデータベース,学術情報リポジトリの例に見られるように,電子化が進み,ユーザはこれらの電子リソースにWebを通じてアクセスすることが主流になった。多様な携帯デバイスを用いた電子書籍の利用もこれからますます増加していく。一方,図書館の外のWebの世界では,GoogleやAmazonなどが検索の周辺技術を進化させ,ユーザがリソースを利用するための,より利便性の高い検索とインターフェースを提供しており,そのようなWebの環境に慣れ親しんだユーザの期待と図書館の提供するソリューションにはギャップがあった。しかしながら,ようやく図書館のサービスにもこのような最新のユーザ利用支援技術の実装が進んできている。本稿は,図書館で実践が行われつつある様々なユーザ支援技術として,ディスカバリ・インターフェースとWebスケール・ディスカバリ・サービスを基点として,シラバス連携などのサービスを紹介する。また,現在国内の多くの図書館が抱えているWeb技術適用に関する課題として,システム調達と人材開発における問題点を指摘し,持続可能な発展という観点から,その打開策を探る。最後に,図書館がWeb技術を身につけた上で,今後どのような役割を担うことができるのか,一つの方向性を提示する。
