I investigated `Hanada no obi', a poem with words generated partially from the lyrics of 'Saibara', which is a song in the Heian era, and its melody was made in line with the tunes of Gagaku.There have been preliminary studies which focused on and after the medieval period, but did not discuss in detail examples of their application in the central period of poem history. In this paper, I collected and analyzed examples of their application during the years 1000 -1200 to point out the changes, their background and the underlying reasons.At the beginning, the words implied a sense of difference between the sexes, and their usage is limited to situations where females give to males clothes and obis, and they were found in the waka from the former to the latter. <p>歌舞伎舞踊『京鹿子娘道成寺』は,道成寺伝説の一種の後日譚でありながら,もともとの伝説を越えた独自の内容を持った作品として,古くから多くの優れた女形によって上演されて来た.本研究では,渡辺保による『京鹿子娘道成寺』の分析を参考に,人物・背景(舞台装置)・音楽(楽器,演奏者,ジャンル)・詞章と台詞,さらに場面ごとの核心的な精神的主題などを主な構成要素とする,その「舞台上演構造」の詳細な分析を試みる.さらに,物語生成システムのアニメ―ションツールとして以前に筆者らが開発したKOSERUBEと呼ばれるシステムを用いて,その舞台上演構造を簡易な可視的イメージとして構成する.本研究は,物語生成システムの一表現方式,コンピュータゲーム,自動生成コンテンツなどへの応用を目指して進められている.</p>

The detection rate of eruption cloud with Geostationary Meteorological Satellite (GMS ; HIMAWARI in Japanese) is 12.1%, but GMS can detect and track, at a high rate of 81.5%, eruption cloud from a large explosive eruption higher than 10 km which may threaten aviation safety.Estimates of the top altitude of eruption clouds within the tropopause based on cloud-top temperature show fairly high values compared to those obtained by ground observations. Growth of vapor clouds over eruption clouds induced by strong ascending currents with eruption-onset may be the reason.Apparent dislocation of eruption clouds on GMS images due to the parallax of GMS is clarified for the case of the 1986 Izu-Oshima Eruption, Japan, and the underestimation of cloud-top is possibly due to warming of the cloud-surface by radiation from internal hot material.From inspections of the pattern of cloud-extent, type, strength, decay, and duration of eruption activity can be evaluated.Differential Thermal Infrared Imagery of GMS-5 is very effective for discriminating ashbearing cloud from ambient atmospheric cloud, but cannot clearly separate an eruption cloud with an extremely high content of water-vapor with phreatic/phreatomagmatic eruption.

This paper aims at tracing images of pre-Islamic brigand-poets called Sa'alik, as reflected in their akhbar-traditions or stories accompanied by poetic texts, which tell the life of poets and the situation in which their poetry was composed. In chapter I, after reviewing previous studies on Sa'alik literature, I will reaffirm the significance of further investigation of pre-Islamic Sa'alik for developing total understanding of the picaresque tradition in Arabic literary heritage. In chapter II, I will examine the nature of akhbar, concluding that they should be regarded not as incomplete/unreliable historical biographies, but as narratives which were formed through interpenetration with the poetic texts, interweaving facts with fictions within them. Then I will argue that those images of Sa'alik, as reflected in akhbar, indicate three different types according to their attitudes toward the tribal society: "anti-tribal", "cross-frontier", and "quasi-tribal". The "anti-tribal" type is represented by al-Shanfara who is the true vendettist to his own tribe; the "cross-frontier" type is represented by al-Sulayk bn al-Sulaka and Ta'abbata Sharran, whose arbitrary and also ambiguous character shows an interesting similarity to the mythological trickster; and the "quasi-tribal" type is represented by 'Urwa bn al-Ward, whose image of social bandit is unique among pre-Islamic Sa'alik in spite of his fame as "the father of Sa'alik". Despite these variations, they have "off-tribal" characters in common, being perceived as strangers both in their behavior and their existence, who depart from the society and disturb its public order.

JAMES長江研究グループは1995年9月7日 宜昌にある水利部長江水利委員会、三峡工程代表局を訪問し、謝修発副局長、付継濤総工程師、王克明総工程師より三峡ダムと葛洲ダムの概要について説明をうけた。宜昌の三峡工程代表局は三峡プロジェクトの建設工事を担当している部門で、もともとは葛洲ダム建設のため代表部として編成されたが、葛洲ダム完成後、1991年に代表局に昇格し、現在に至っている。ここで聴取した概要を以下に記す。

JTオリジナル新薬、抗HIV薬elvitegravirと抗腫瘍薬trametinibの開発ストーリーをエピソードを交えながら紹介する。創薬には化学、生物、医学、物理(分析機器の発展)等の最先端のサイエンスが必須であることは論を待たない。創薬には時間がかかり、数々の困難に出会い、それらを解決して次へと進め、そしてほんの一握りのプロジェクトが成功する。そんな長くて遠い創薬の道を乗り切るには理論だけではどうにもならない時がある。その時、理論以外の「何か」が必要である。それを浮き彫りにしたい。
