従来、いわゆる「慶長日本図」と称されてきた国立国会図書館所蔵日本総図の慶長期成立は誤認であって、正しくは島原の乱直後の寛永15年(1638)に作成された日本総図の写であるという筆者の見解は現在では大方の認知を得たようである。幕府大目付の井上筑後守(政重)は寛永15年に日本総図の作成を理由に中国筋諸国に国絵図の提出を要請したことが明らかになっていた。しかし著者は日本総図を編集するのにどうして中国地方の国絵図のみでこと足りたのかが理解できなかった。ところがこの度新しく発見された南葵文庫所蔵の『日本全国図』によってその疑問が解消された。この『日本全国図』は寛永15年日本図の下図とみなされるが、この図では中国筋諸国に限って渡河方法の注記が著しく欠如している。幕府が島原の乱後に軍事的理由で作成した寛永15年日本図(国会図書館蔵日本総図)は街道筋の渡渉地点で舟渡りか歩渡りかといった渡河方法を注記するのが内容上の目立った特徴である。幕府は寛永15年日本図の編集に際して中国地方での渡河方法の情報を補う必要から中国筋諸国に限って国絵図の調進を要請したのである。

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of a 40-minute race on muscle activity and spatiotemporal cycle variables at four-time points during a 12-km roller skiing test using the double-poling technique. [Subjects and Methods] Five elite cross-country (XC) skiers on the Korean National reserve team participated in the study. Part of a biathlon course that consisted of both flat land and slopes was selected, and three measurements were recorded after every 4-km lap. Spatiotemporal variables, mean frequency and mean amplitude of 6 muscles were the chosen computational parameters. [Results] Significant differences were observed in cycle time and rate. The mean frequency of the upper-body muscles exhibited declining trends, with statistically significant differences for the triceps brachii. In addition, there were significant differences in the mean amplitude of the tibialis anterior and gastrocnemius. The activity of the triceps brachii, tibialis anterior, and gastrocnemius showed some degree of dependence on the technique. [Conclusion] Training and race strategies that improve the function of elbow extensors and ankle dorsiflexors are important in XC skiing; the application of roller-ski training research to actual XC skiing competitions is needed.

A method was presented to estimate radionuclide concentration in plume using the pulse height distribution measured by a LaBr3 scintillation detector and its calculated response to radionuclides in plume with egs5. Radionuclide concentration was estimated from the ratio between the peak count rates corresponding to each radionuclide in the measured pulse height distribution on an expressway on March 15 and in the calculated one from each radionuclide in plume using the egs5 Monte Carlo code. The pulse height distribution reconstructed based on the estimated concentrations agrees well with the measured one at the time that the contribution from radionuclides deposited on a ground surface is negligible.

A special committee on “Research on the analysis methods for accident consequence of nuclear fuel facilities (NFFs)” was organized by the Atomic Energy Society of Japan (AESJ) under the entrustment of Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). The committee aims to research on the state-of-the-art consequence analysis method for Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) of NFFs, such as fuel reprocessing and fuel fabrication facilities. The objective of this research is to obtain the useful information related to the establishment of quantitative performance objectives and to risk-informed regulation through qualifying issues needed to be resolved for applying PSA to NFFs. The research activities of the committee were mainly focused on the analysis method of consequences for postulated accidents with potentially large consequences in NFFs, e.g., events of criticality, spill of molten glass, hydrogen explosion, boiling of radioactive solution, and fire (including rapid decomposition of TBP complexes), resulting in the release of radioactive materials into the environment. The results of the research were summarized in a series of six reports, which consist of a review report and five technical ones. In this technical report, the research results about basic experimental data related to the consequence of the radiolytically generated hydrogen gas explosion postulated in the radioactive solution reserve tank caused by the loss of dilution air supply were summarized.

Japanese food culture is characterized by a large number of fish dishes and the use of seasonal ingredients. The Japanese archipelago is surrounded by warm or cold currents depending on the season, which affects which species of fish travel near land and are caught. Although the highest-profile method of Japanese fish preparation is to eat it raw as sashimi or sushi, fish can be prepared variously through grilling, boiling, pickling, frying, simmering in soup, or mincing. Fish to be heated is cooked with fermented seasonings such as miso, soy sauce, sake lees and vinegar. Because of the warm and humid weather in summer, since ancient times, fish have been preserved through pickling rather than drying. When fish is cooked or processed, umami compounds are generated in the meat, improving the taste. However, beyond the meat, the skin, bones, and internal organs can be cooked and eaten as well. There is scientific basis behind each of these traditional cooking methods, and the continuation of these dietary habits constitutes the food culture of Japan.

This paper deals with the system interaction performance of the BWR drywell local cooler (DWC) in combination with containment spray as a Japanese Phase-II accident management (AM). By using almost full height simulation test facility (GIRAFFE-DWC) with volumetric scaling ratio of 1/600 for a typical BWR containment, the system integral tests simulating BWR low pressure vessel failure sequence were accomplished during about 14 hours. In case of DWC application, the containment pressure increase was found milder due to DWC heat removal performance. Initial spray timing was delayed about 3 hours and each spray period was reduced almost by half, which contributed to the containment gas compression. These containment pressure transients were confirmed by analyzing the severe accident analysis code of MELCOR. It was concluded that the application of a BWR DWC to Phase-II AM measure is quite promising from the point of delaying or preventing the containment venting.

The Rankine-Hugoniot relation for a detonation wave has been numerically analyzed for hydrogen-oxygen mixture to evaluate its explosion pressure taking radical products at high temperature into consideration. The present study elucidates a scheme of convergence to the Jouguet point obtained by triple iterations over temperature, specific volume, and mole fractions of product gases. The total number of product gas atoms changes monotonously in the iteration over the mole fractions under the condition of constant temperature and specific volume. The final solution is, hence, obtained by the interpolation of the last two iteration points that extend the point where the total number of gas atoms is conserved. Every term of the Rankine-Hugoniot relation also changes monotonously in the iteration over the specific volume under constant temperature condition. So the final specific volume is determined in the same way as the mole fractions. In conclusion, the Jouget point with corresponding explosion pressure obtained dose not depend on the iteration steps or the truncation conditions.

A variety of techniques have been proposed to measure surface magnetic properties using scanning probe microscopy. The most widely used is magnetic force microscopy (MFM). In many cases, however, it is hard to analyze MFM data quantitatively. A magnetoresistive (MR) device is also a candidate for such a sensor that can operate at room temperature with high sensitivity. Yamamoto et al. have demonstrated a scanning magnetoresistance microscope (SMRM) using a commercially available MR read-head for a hard disk. Since they held the MR head on a slider, there was no feedback system to control the distance between sample and sensor. We made a cantilever for the MR sensor to get the surface topography and magnetic properties simultaneously. Its magnetic field sensitivity with 10-mA sensing current is 90 μV/Oe, and our roughly estimated minimum field resolution is a few mOe (only Johnson noise is assumed with 10-kHz bandwidth at room temperature), which is much better than that of a scanning Hall probe microscope.

Octreotide is often administered to patients by addition to total parenteral nutrition (TPN) as well as by subcutaneous injection. However, the concentration has not been determined to remain greater than 90% through the completion of its administration. This study investigated the stability of octreotide during administration in ELNEOPA No 1 TPN solution, a four-chambered duplex delivery system.The level of octreotide in the upper-chamber of the ELNEOPA No 1 duplex delivery system, pH 4.0, remained stable, whereas that in the lower chamber, pH 7.0, decreased to less than 90% of the initial concentration immediately after mixing. The final concentration of octreotide in pH 7.5 buffer solution was significantly lower than that in pH 5.1 buffer solution. The influence of pH was reversible. However, a fraction of octreotide suffered decomposition in pH 7.5 buffer solution. Hence, it might be suitable to inject octreotide into the upper chamber that has the lowest pH among the 4 chambers of the duplex drug delivery system used by ELNEOPA No 1.Reducing agents such as sodium hydrogen sulfite caused the concentration of octreotide to decrease. Although the mixed solution of the 4 chambers contains sodium hydrogen sulfite, the concentration of octreotide remained greater than 90% for about 3 days. The decrease in concentration caused by sodium hydrogen sulfite seemed to be protected by the co-presence of glucose or cysteine.The results of our octreotide concentration studies suggest the possibility that the therapeutic effects of octreotide administered via TPN would be equivalent to the effects following subcutaneous administration.

ミニチュア・ダックスフント、12歳、去勢済み雄が間欠的な歩様異常を主訴に来院した。画像診断ならびに病理組織学検査より第12胸椎の孤立性骨形質細胞腫 (SOP) と診断された。ゾレドロン酸、メルファランならびにプレドニゾロンに極めてよく反応したが、2年後にゾレドロン酸の副作用と思われる下顎骨の骨壊死が発現した。本症例は、SOPが発生した犬に対するゾレドロン酸の副作用についての初報である。

抜歯後の疼痛発現時に, 立効散エキス顆粒を1包 (2.5g) 服用させ, 鎮痛効果を調べた。被験対象は20例である。鎮痛効果の判定では, 有効が13例 (65%), やや有効が4例 (20%), 無効が3例 (15%) であった。抜歯後疼痛が軽度の場合, 服用後13例すべて無痛になった。抜歯後疼痛が中等度の場合, 5例のうち4例は服用後軽度になったが, 1例は服用後も疼痛が軽減しなかった。抜歯後疼痛が強度の場合,服用後2例とも疼痛が軽減しなかった。立効散エキス顆粒は, 普通抜歯で抜歯後疼痛が軽度と予想される場合は十分な鎮痛効果が期待できるが, 難抜歯で抜歯後疼痛が中等度以上と予想される場合は十分な鎮痛効果が期待できないと思われる。自覚的な副作用は20例すべてに認められなかった。

A 4-year-old intact female, mixed breed dog was presented with a complaint of dyspnea. Clinical examination revealed symptoms related to disease of the upper airways. Radiographic findings were consistent with tracheal collapse associated with anomalies involving the seventh cervical vertebra and the first ribs bilaterally. Radiographs were highly suggestive of cervical ribs; computed tomography and ultrasound examination allowed complete characterization and better localization of the anomalies with relationship to the adjacent muscle and vasculature. Cervical ribs are malformations widely described in human medicine, but only sporadically in dogs. Herein, we discuss etiological, clinical, diagnostic, and therapeutic aspects of cervical ribs and possible correlations between the cervical ribs and other anatomical anomalies noted in this dog.

For the design of the liquid metal fast breeder reactor, the corrosion behaviors of austenitic stainless steels SUS 304, 316 and 321 were investigated in high temperature flowing sodium.Such factors as sodium exposure time, downstream factor, sodium temperature and oxygen content in sodium are considemed as main factors of sodium environment which influence the corrosion behavior of structural materials. The empirical corrosion equation derived by statistical analysis of available corrosion data isCR=3.08×105·O20.8·exp(-22, 000/RT-0.0059(L/D))where CR: Corrosion rate (μm/yr), O2: Oxygen content in sodium (ppm)R: Gas constant (1.98cal/mol·K), T: Sodium temperature (K)L/D: Downstream factor in length/diameter ratio.This equation is applicable to austenitic stainless steels at oxygen content of 1-10ppm, temperature of 500-650°C, downstream factor below 200 and velocities of 2-4m/s.

Objectives: Mental disorders are a key cause of sickness absence (SA) and challenge prolonging working careers. Thus, evidence on the development of SA trends is needed. In this study, educational differences in long SAs due to mental disorders were examined in two age groups among employees of the City of Helsinki from 2004 to 2013.Methods: All permanently and temporarily employed staff aged 18–34 and 35–49 were included in the analyses (n = ~27800 per year). SA spells of ≥14 days due to mental disorders were examined annually. Education was classified to higher and lower levels. Joinpoint regression was used to identify major turning points in SA trends.Results: Joinpoint regression models showed that lower educated groups had more long SAs spells due to mental disorders than those groups with higher education. SA trends decreased during the study period in all studied age and educational groups. Lower educated age groups had similar SA trends. Younger employees with higher education had the fewest SAs.Conclusions: A clear educational gradient was found in long SAs due to mental disorders during the study period. SA trends decreased from 2004 to 2013.
