2000年5月から7月にかけて発生した、rh-AB型血液患者の手術に対して献血による協力を呼びかけるメールが転送される現象を事例に、インターネットにおけるチェーンメールの社会的影響について調査を行った。Web上のBBS(掲示板)に転載されたメールを収集し、内容を分析することによって、伝播過程の分析を行った。今回の事例は「善意のチェーンメール」として社会問題化したが、短期間に多数に情報を伝達する行動は、善意・悪意を問わず社会問題化するリスクを孕んでおり、転送者の社会的地位なども考慮にいれた研究が課題となっている。

Rivers characterized by suspended load and bed load tend to build fine-grained deltas and coarse-grained deltas, respectively. Gilbert-type deltas consisting of topset, foreset, and bottomset beds are recognized in marine environments as well as in lakes. Coarse-grained deltas tend to be Gilbert-type deltas. However, fine-grained deltas built in deep-water rivermouths and in wave-dominated rivermouths are mostly Gilbert-type deltas.Bird foot, lobate, cuspate, and estuarine deltas are recognized in marine environments. In contrast, estuarine deltas do not occur in lakes, since lakes are less subjected to tidal influences than seas.

A case of pyostomatitis vegetans associated with ulcerative colitis is reported. A 57-year-old man with a history of ulcerative colitis was referred to our hospital because of pain in both sides of the buccal mucosa and malnutrition. A snail-track-shaped ulcer and miliary pustules with a cobblestone appearance were found in both sides of the buccal mucosa and soft palate. Treatment with topical corticosteroids had no effect on this lesion. The presence of abdominal pain and hematochezia led us to suspect a recurrence of ulcerative colitis. Immediately after the systemic administration of corticosteroids was started, the oral mucosal lesions resolved. This case suggests that treatment of ulcerative colitis with systemic corticosteroids is required to cure pyostomatitis vegetans.

We report a case of pyostomatitis vegetans associated with ulcerative colitis. The patient was a 25-year-old woman referred to our hospital because of irritative pain of the right side of the buccal mucosa. She had been receiving mesalazine for ulcerative colitis for 4 years. An erosion with a cobblestone appearance and a small ulcer were observed on the right side of the buccal mucosa. Histopathological examination showed subepithelial microabscesses containing lymphocytes and eosinophils in the subepithelial connective tissue. We finally diagnosed pyostomatitis vegetans associated with ulcerative colitis. The oral lesion completely disappeared 1 month after the administration of prednisolone.
