映像の高解像度化や,SNS 普及によるコンシューマ生成ビデオの急速な増加により,今まで以上に効率的な映像配信システムの構築が求められている.IoT 時代を迎えて様々な形態の映像データが登場し,配信/視聴環境も多様化する中で,映像配信のキー技術である映像圧縮符号化にも新しい視点からの研究が進んでいる.予測と周波数変換といった伝統的な技術を改良することで更なる高圧縮化を図る次世代国際標準VVC への期待が高まり,また一方では,視覚特性を駆使した最適化や,Web 検索の応用,ビッグデータを用いた機械学習の適用など,従来手法にはとらわれない画像生成型の圧縮手法にも注目が集まっている.本稿では,様々な新しい映像符号化研究を体系化した上で,これら新圧縮手法の仕組みを解説するとともに,シミュレーションによる実際の処理画像を示した上で,今後の符号化性能向上の可能性を論じる.

今年度の研究では、現代ギリシアを代表する作家ニコス・カザンザキスの文学において、第一次世界大戦前後に難民としてギリシアに流入したポントス人表象を主に取り上げた。この研究において、ポントス人とカザンザキスとの接触がカザンザキスの「ギリシア性」探求におけるモチーフのきっかけを与えたこと、そして彼の主著群を成す『その男ゾルバ』と『キリストは再び十字架に』、そして自伝的小説『エル・グレコへの報告』において「ギリシア性」を表象する際の中心的な登場人物として取り上げられていることを明らかにした。ここで挙げらた研究はギリシアの新聞であるPontosnewsにおいて取り上げられる等、国外においても一定の評価を得たと言えよう(http://www.pontos-news.gr/article/168983/o-iaponas-poy-agapise-ton-kazantzaki-kai-vrike-toys-pontioys 最終閲覧日;1917年9月13日)また、1920年までの、カザンザキスが政治的にナショナリストとして中央で活動した時期の作品について分析し、イオン・ドラグミス等の先行する作家や「メガリ・イデア」等の政治思想から大きな影響を受けていたことを明らかにし、ここでの成果を主に、「福田耕佑、二十世紀初頭のカザンザキスの政治活動とナショナリズム : ディモティキ運動とドラグミスからの影響、プロピレアー日本ギリシア語ギリシア文学会、(23) 12-30、2017年」として論文化した。

This study examined changes in academic motivation among elementary and junior high school students. Based on self-determination theory (Ryan & Deci, 2000a), we focused on changes in autonomous and controlled motivation. In Study 1, we examined inter-individual changes in academic motivation among 5th to 9th grade students (N=1 572) through a cross-sectional study. In Study 2, we examined intra-individual changes in academic motivation among students (N=128) who were in transition from elementary to junior high school through a longitudinal study. All participants completed the Academic Motivation Scale (Nishimura, Kawamura, & Sakurai, 2011) that measured autonomous and controlled motivation. The results revealed that autonomous motivation decreased in the students from elementary to junior high school, while controlled motivation increased during the same period. This is a unique finding because a prior study conducted in a Western culture suggested that both motivations decrease gradually in school.

Two new myrmecophilous pselaphid species, Tribasodites picticornis from Okinawa Is. and Batraxis splendida from Iriomote Is. are described. The new species are captured in the colonies of Paratrechina flavipes and Brachyponera chinensis, respectively. The genera Tribasodites and Batraxis are new to Japan.

Partner preference and paced mating tests were accomplished in ovariectomized female rats following bilateral radiofrequency lesions in the medial amygdala. Open field behavior and passive avoidance learning were also examined to investigate the underlying behavioral mechanism. Partner preference was determined in a chamber located between castrated and sexually active males. Airborne olfactory cues were presented to the female through small holes on the partition. The lesion diminished preference for the odor of sexually active males over that of castrated males, even after injection with high-dose of estrogen. On the other hand, in a paced mating test, the lesioned females without estrogen treatment showed a significantly shorter latency for entering the male's compartment in a two-compartment apparatus, which allowed the females, but not the males, to cross the barrier through a narrow opening at the bottom. However, administration of estrogen and progesterone reduced the effect. The lesion had no effect on emotionality or exploratory behavior in an open field test, but impaired passive avoidance learning capability. We suggest that a male poses an inherent threat to a female. The seemingly incompatible results of partner preference and paced mating tests can be compromised if the male is inherently aversive to the female; this emotional response can be removed by the medial amygdala lesion.

本稿ではBluetooth TM 通信装置BTA-Twin とこれを用いたタッチレスゲートシステムの開発について紹介する。近年、鉄道事業においては非接触IC カードの普及が始まり、切符は磁気券からIC カードへと移行し、記憶されるデータも磁気データから電子データへと移りつつある。またモバイル端末に切符情報を電子化して記録し、モバイル端末を切符としてゲートを通過するという要望も鉄道事業者、鉄道利用者の双方から出てきている。このような背景の中、Bluetooth TM 機能を搭載したモバイル端末で切符のデータを処理し、このBTA-Twin を利用して切符情報を授受することでモバイル端末を特定の位置にかざすことなく、ゲートを通過するという無線ゲートシステムの原理モデルを開発した。その基本原理と開発内容、実用化に向けた課題について報告する。
