&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;As a language of politics, &lsquo;reason of state&rsquo; has undergone development and transformation. It originally meant in Botero that a state was endowed with its own raison d&rsquo; etre which overrode all moral and legal considerations. In the English Renaissance, however, this political language of prudence was expanded to include not only its synonym, arcana imperii, or mysteries of state, but also a Phoenix image and the Actaeon myth.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;According to F. Meinecke, a German historian, this &lsquo;noble sport&rsquo; became common in Italy about the second quarter of the seventeenth century, as a subject for conversations among the barbers and other base craftmen. In England, its vulgarization began a little earlier at the turn of the century, when Ben Jonson used the term &lsquo;de stato&rsquo; in his satirical comedy, Cynthia&rsquo;s Revels (1600). By the caricaturized portrait of Sir Politic Would-be, the leading figure in the subplot of Volpone (1610), he also showed us how much a Quiotic man of the Renaissance such as he was enamored and distracted with the matters of state.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;On the other hand, Edmund Spenser refers to the &lsquo;somewhat&rsquo; of Queen Elizabeth alias Diana as one of arcana imperii, and tells us how the spell the Queen had casted over him was broken when Spenser-Faunus peeped at her middle-aged naked body. Thus &lsquo;breaking forth in laughter&rsquo; Spenser fashioned himself from a faithful subject of the Shepherds&rsquo; Nation into a revolutionary &lsquo;subject&rsquo;.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;To John Donne, a failure in life due to his religious faith and secret marriage, the trope doesn&rsquo;t imply the Queen&rsquo;s deformed body, but his own world of love. He tries in vain to persuade his newlywed wife to live an eternal life with him like the Phoenix that resurrects as often as it dies. So he yearns for death to be buried in a well-wrought urn, and be canonized for love. But as he grows old, he becomes so anxious for recognition by the world that he changes his faith to Anglicanism, with the result that he denies the existence of the Phoenix itself. He also confesses in his sermon that arcana imperii have also turned into something negative and harmful at once.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;By 1621, when the reason of state became a part of the arsenal of arguments on the side of the Parliament, the execution of Sir Walter Raleigh had already been carried out as a scapegoat of the King&rsquo;s pro-Spanish policy. In The History of the World, one of the best-sellers of the seventeenth century, Raleigh mentioned nothing definitely about what the King&rsquo;s Prerogative or the reason of state should be like, but it is quite clear he thought it as a matter of course ever since the Norman dynasty for the king to consult with the Parliament on anything really important to the state.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The popularity of that political language, which gave poets in the English Renaissance an occasion suitable for their self-aggrandizement, has not lasted long since then. Apart from people&rsquo;s allergy to the bitter Civil War, some other reasons can be considered. One is the disappearance, with the dusk of the Renaissance, of a man with the Actaeon-like mentality who will gladly be hunted to death by his own passions. The other is the fact that it was originally made of too contradictory elements such as &lsquo;honestum&rsquo; and &lsquo;utile&rsquo; to live long in England, where the &lsquo;jealousy of trade&rsquo; soon became prevalent in the eighteenth century.

The Korean War had been neglected in American literature, until the oral history of the Vietnam War boomed in the 80s and many of the veterans published their memory of the war. Encouraged by this oral history boom, Korean War veterans have published their own oral histories for the last two decades. William Styron's two fictions, The Long March (1956) and "Marriott, the Marine"(1971), are considered as earlier works concerned with the Korean War in American literature. Though Styron served in the Marines twice, first during the Second World War and second during the Korean War, he spent most of his time in camps and was not sent to the battlefields. Based on his own military experience, the settings of the two fictions were both military camps in North Carolina, not battlefields in Korea. Although the actual battlefields in Korea were not represented in the fictions, it is possible to see his viewpoint on the Korean War in them.In The Long March antagonism between individuals and the inhumane military system is represented through a captain's rebellion to a colonel. The theme, the inhumane military system suppressing the individuals, frequently appears in war stories and films of the time, such as Norman Mailer's The Naked and the Dead (1948), James Jones's From Here to Eternity (1951), and David Lean's The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957). As Styron, stimulated by the success of The Naked and the Dead and From Here to Eternity, decided to fictionalize his own camp experience as The Long March, it is considered that he was strongly influenced by the conflicts frequently seen in the Second World War stories in the 40 s and early 50s."Marriott, the Marine" is a part of his uncompleted novel The Way of the Warrior in which Styron planned to demonstrate that a regular officer, who embodies the esprit of corps of the Marines, has become suspicious of the justification of his service, realizing the inhumanity of military system. Although the conflicts between the individuals and the military system, repeatedly seen in the Second World War stories, succeeded in the novel, influences of the Vietnam War were also scattered in it. For example, the officer's suspicion of his service and the government, which Styron planned to clarify, suggests the anti-war movement even in the military, which was public knowledge in 1966.Besides, in "Marriott, the Marine" brutality in a certain U.S. soldier is portrayed: prejudice against communists and Asian people, and desire for murder. In 1971, when "Marriott, the Marine" was published, he also published an essay, "Calley," a kind of review on several books about First Lieutenant William Calley and the massacre in My Lai which, revealed in 1969, shocked the people in the U.S.A., and helped many of them regard U.S. soldiers as baby killers and rapists. Styron portrays the same kind of brutality in soldiers who served in the Korean War.Prejudice against communists and Asian people is amplified in "Love Day," a Second World War story published in 1985. The story suggests that the prejudice for ideology and races, not only in military but also in U.S. society, contributes to the brutality and inhumanity in the soldiers. Comparing The Long March with "Marriott, the Marine" and "Love Day," it is clear that Styron has reconstructed his memory of military service in the Second World War and in the Korean War with insight gained from the Vietnam War.

玉露浸出液中のアミノ酸及び有機酸を分析し,これに基づき,玉露のうま味のモデル液を調製した。このモデル液から,各成分を除去したときの味の変化を官能検査した結果,グルタミン酸,テアニン,クエン酸が玉露のうま味にとって重要と考察された。

本研究の課題は,喪失体験における意味の回復プロセスを明らかにすることである。フロイトによれば,喪失体験の本質は意味の喪失である。意味が回復されてはじめて喪失とともに生きられるようになり,喪失がその後の人生の礎になりうる。本研究の方法として,構成主義の立場から心を一種の自律的なシステムと理解する「心的システム論」を参照する。心的システム論は,主にオートポイエティック・システム論に基づく,心をめぐる様々な研究を含む。社会情報学はそれらを理論的に参照してきた。心的システム論は,いかなる内的な意味や価値の実現に向けて心的システムが「作動する」のかに注目する。この分析観点は,喪失体験をめぐる苦しみの原因と癒しについて考察するために有益と思われる。本研究は,喪失の意味が回復または再構成される過程を「4モードモデル」として提案する。そこでは,心的システムが意味を創出する基準(「成果メディア」)を4つの段階に類型化した。システム進化の観点から4モードモデルを心的システムの発達モデルとして理解することで,従来の心的システム論の展開を試みた。結論として,心的システムが意味構成体としての自律性・閉鎖性を発現させ,個別的な理想性を克服する普遍的な自己超越を志向することが,喪失の意味回復を可能にする。最終的に,同様に苦しむ他者の内的観点に立って他者を理解する「内部観察者」へと心的システムは進化しうる。このとき喪失の絶望から「愛」が生じる価値の反転が起こる。

情動は,生命システムの作動プロセスの活性度にほかならない。これは,観察記述するシステムの視点によって,次の三種類に分類される。すなわち,機械的情動,生命的情動,そしてそれらの両義的な情動(社会的情動)である。機械的情動は,ある種の自動操縦プログラムであり,他律系の行動を誘発する。この自動的行動は,社会システムの道徳的規範とある程度一致したものになる。なぜなら,メディアの機能によって社会システムが制約した拘束としての現実が,可能な行動の選択肢を有限な範囲にあらかじめ限定しており,機械的情動が誘発しうるのはこの範囲内で選択された行動だからである。これは,基礎情報学のHACS(階層的自律コミュニケーション・システム)モデルでいうと,上位システムの視点からみた下位システムの行動として観察記述される。生命的情動は,自律系が固有の意味と価値を自己形成する自己産出の行為である。これは無限の偶然性から有限の可能性を自己限定する。これが,システムに,規範主義的な道徳性ではない,倫理的な責任をもたらすのである。これは下位システムの視点からみた下位システム自身の作動プロセスとして観察記述される。そして,これらの情動の両義性の感情が,社会的生物としてのシステムの自己感覚を実感させる。これはHACSの社会的自律性の活性度を自己観察記述する方法のひとつである。
