LC/MS/MSを用いて,フグ組織およびヒト血清・尿中のテトロドトキシン(TTX)の迅速分析法を開発した.試料を2%酢酸で抽出し,フグ組織については水で希釈し,ヒト血清および尿については分子量分画5,000の遠心フィルターでろ過後,メタクリレート-スチレンジビニルベンゼンカートリッジを用いて精製した.フグ組織にTTXを0.1 mg/gと1 mg/g添加した場合の回収率は79∼90%,ヒト血清および尿に0.5 ng/mLと5 ng/mL添加した場合の回収率は93∼101%であった.検出限界は,フグ組織では0.01 mg/g,ヒト血清および尿では0.1 ng/mLであった.本法を用いて市販のフグの筋肉・皮・肝臓計30検体,フグ中毒による患者の血清7検体,尿5検体について分析した結果,すべての検体からそれぞれ0.04∼140 g/g,0.9∼1.8 ng/mLおよび15∼150 ng/mLの範囲でテトロドトキシンが検出された.

本研究では、唇裂口蓋裂の女性のよりよい社会適応を目標としたプロジェクトの先駆けとなる、実践的活動の検討を行う。医師・臨床心理士・メーキャッパ-からなる治療チームを編成し、対象者に個別的な化粧施術と化粧指導を行ったが、その前後に、自分の顔・医療・化粧に関する質問紙および面接による調査を行った。その結果、対象者は医療や形成手術に満足していると表明したものの、顔の疾患部位である鼻と唇が気になっている人が多く、化粧については抵抗感があることが見いだされた。化粧意識に関しては、本チームでの化粧施術を体験する前は、化粧の否定的・消極的な対人的効果を語る人が多く、体験後は、肯定的かつ積極的な対自己効果を挙げる人が多かった。このような意識の変化から、この体験が、化粧への抵抗感を弱めて、化粧を通して自身の顔と向きあい、積極的に自分の顔を受容していく契機となりうる可能性が示唆された。また、化粧された新しい顔を他者に示すことが、より健康的なペルソナの構築にも役立つ可能性があると考えられ、対象者の社会生活がより適応的なものになり得るものと考察される。

A one-year-old male Golden Retriever presented with acute onset of vomiting and hemorrhagic diarrhea since 2 days. The dog was depressed, showing abdominal pain, 12% dehydration, tachycardia, and a bounding pulse. Diagnostic imaging showed severe dilatation and fluid retention of the entire gastrointestinal tract with decreased motility. A foreign body was found in the gastroduodenal region, but there was no obstruction or plication. The dog was tentatively diagnosed with acute hemorrhagic diarrhea syndrome and rapidly recovered after supportive treatment. However, on the morning of day 4, anorexia and vomiting recurred, and diagnostic imaging revealed intestinal plication with free peritoneal fluid, not found on the previous image. An emergency laparotomy revealed the foreign body to be two used feminine hygiene products. These contaminated products were suspected to induce acute hemorrhagic diarrhea syndrome, and led to subsequent complication in this large dog.

The right third eyelid of an adult female brown bear (Ursus arctos) was swollen and removed. Histopathology revealed a tumor exhibiting proliferation with mild infiltration, consisting of multi-stratified glandular structures of the innermost laminal neoplastic cells and the basaloid neoplastic cells, and with eosinophilic thick basal lamina material around the glandular structures. Both types of neoplastic cells exhibited moderate anisokaryosis, and mitotic figures were observed in the basaloid neoplastic cells. The laminal neoplastic cells were cytokeratin (CK) 8/18-positive. In contrast, the basaloid neoplastic cells were CK14- and p63-positive, but α-smooth muscle actin- and calponin-negative. The case described herein is the first report of basal cell adenocarcinoma in the gland of the third eyelid of a bear.

運転中の急激な体調変化によって運転操作に支障をきたし,結果的に事故につながることがある。運転中にひとたび体調変化が生じると,ほとんどの例で適切な回避行動がとられず,事故につながる。社会の安全や自身の健康を確保するためにも,運転中に軽微な体調不良を自覚した際には,積極的に自動車運転を中止する必要がある。薬剤を内服することで,原疾患のコントロールを良好に保つことは運転中の疾病発症を予防するうえで重要であるが,その際には運転に支障がない薬剤が選択されるべきである。各事業所で運転中の体調変化を予防する取り組み,あるいは体調変化が生じても事故に至らないようにする工夫が必要である。(図3)

This study reports on two Hanwoo (a native Korean breed of cattle) calves, a 3- and 6-month-old presenting with diarrhea, anorexia and blindness. Ophthalmoscopic examination revealed bilateral papilledema in both calves. Reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction tests for bovine viral diarrhea virus, rotavirus and coronavirus were all negative. The levels of serum vitamin A in the two affected calves were 0.317 µg/dl and 0.481 µg/dl, respectively. These values are much lower than the normal vitamin A levels; therefore, the calves were diagnosed with hypovitaminosis A.

A 14-month-old Japanese black beef steer presented with severe chronic diarrhea and emaciation and was euthanized. Postmortem examination showed thickened and corrugated intestinal mucosa and enlarged granulomatous mesenteric lymph nodes with caseating necrosis. Numerous epithelioid cells and multinucleated giant cells infiltrated in the lamina propria and the submucosal tissue of the intestines. These cells were also observed in the systemic organs. Many acid-fast bacilli were detected in the cytoplasm of these cells and were identified as ‘Mycobacterium avium subsp. hominissuis’ (Mah) on the basis of the results of molecular examinations and immunohistochemistry. These findings indicate that Mah can cause systemic mycobacteriosis, and this unique infection needs to be distinguished from Johne’s disease and tuberculosis in cattle.

A 16-year-old castrated male mongrel cat presented with swelling under the left pinna and a 3 -month history of voice change. Laryngeal endoscopy revealed circumferential oedema around the arytenoid cartilages and hypersecretion of saliva. Histopathological examination of the mass around the left ear canal was considered the primary lesion that originated from cutaneous apocrine adenocarcinoma or parotid gland adenocarcinoma, and it metastasized to the larynx, lung and medial retropharyngeal lymph nodes. This report provides new insights into feline laryngeal diseases which could result in laryngeal metastasis with slight mucosal irregularity alone and without obvious radiographic abnormalities. Therefore, histopathological examination should be performed when a cat presents clinical signs such as stridor, dysphonia or voice change without any mass-forming laryngeal lesion.

本研究は大学生が入院患者であると想定し、看護師のどのような化粧が、患者に好印象を与えるのかを明らかにすることを目的に、A 大学3 学科の学生126 名に質問紙調査を実施した。その結果、濃い・派手な化粧の印象は「話しかけにくい・近づきにくい」「怖い」が多く、薄い・地味な化粧の印象は「話しかけやすい・近づきやすい」「清潔」が多かった。看護師の化粧A(薄)~ E(濃)の評価では、化粧B が最も高く、化粧A、C、D、E の順に低くなった。5 項目の平均評価得点は化粧A ~ C までが3 点以上であった。項目ごとでは、化粧A は真面目さの評価が高く、化粧C、D では明るさの評価が高かった。看護師の化粧では、化粧A のファンデーションと眉ずみに化粧B のチークと口紅を加え、顔色を健康的で明るい印象にすることで患者に好印象を与え、評価が高まることが示唆された。

新潟県十日町市珠川の林地、開放地、道路が混在し、連続した林分と分断・孤立した林分が分布する地域におけるリスの分布と林分の利用状況について、給餌台の利用状況調査とテレメトリー法により調査した。発信機を装着した4個体の夏_から_秋季の行動圏には1)連続した林分を利用、2)分断・孤立林分内で完結、3)複数の分断・孤立した林分間を移動して、利用する3タイプがみられた。車道上の轢死事例があり、孤立林分間の移動の延長として、今後も道路横断の可能性が考えられる。
