Faulting and other surface deformations in recent geologic time are essentially relevant to understanding present-day tectonic processes, which in turn are a key to scientific, not empirical, earthquake prediction. Geologic records are indispensable because instrumentally observed records, such as geodetic measurements and microseismicity, are not sufficient in time to cover a whole cycle of strain buildup and release in a orogenic zone.Rheological structure of the Japan arc b ased on explosion seismology, heat-flow measurements, and laboratory experiments indicates that the western half of central and northern Honshu, including continental slopes on the Japan Sea side, is mechanically very weak; only the upper 15 kilometers of crustal rocks behaves elastic, and ductile lower crust is underlain directly by asthenospheric mantle. This zone of weakness was rifted and stretched during the early Miocene back-arc spreading event, and coincides broadly with the distribution of active faults. Since late Miocene time up to the present, the Japan arc has been subjected to east-west compression due principally to the westward convergence of the Pacific plate at Japan trench at a rate as high as ∼90 millimeters per year.If the megathrust at the Japan trench is locked, the plate convergence is to be ac c ommodated mainly in this zone of weakness. Actually, geodetic observations in the last 100 years have revealed that strain accumulation rates over the mechanically weak zone are on the order as high as 10-7 per year. However, geologically observed strain rates, based on slip rates on active faults and folding rates, are one order of magnitude lower than the geodetic rates. A possible explanation for this discrepancy between short-term (geodetic) and long-term (geologic) observations is that the strain accumulated in the last 100 years at abnormally high rates is likely to be released by slip on the megathrust at Japan trench, which would produce big earthquake(s) with magnitude 8 or greater. Only a fraction of plate convergence may be accommodated within the Japan arc as long-term deformation.Whether or not the above scenario is real, the process of strain buildup and release in the Japan arc-trench system is unique, and should be understood with more geologic, as well as geophysical, observations.

<p> 本研究の目的は「書籍の種類・読む目的が変わると,着目する項目が変化する」かどうかを明らかにすることである.オンライン調査により,同じタイトルの書籍の電子書籍と紙の書籍を示し,どちらを選択するかを尋ねた.課題ごとに「書籍の種類」,「あとがきの有無」などの提示情報を変化させ,どの情報を重視しているのかを調べた.小説を取り扱った課題では紙の書籍を選択した人数が多く,実用書では電子書籍を選択する人数が多いという結果が得られた.また,読む目的を変更すると,項目の重要度の値が変化していた.特定の書籍の種類や読書の目的を設定した場合,「書籍の種類・読む目的が変わると,着目する項目が変化する」可能性があるのではないかと考えられる.</p>

&nbsp;1. Introduction<br>&nbsp;After World War II, new junior high schools were established in many municipalities by the reform of the school education system. Later, at the time of implementing the municipal merger of Showa, many of these new junior high schools were consolidated.<br>&nbsp;2. Purpose<br>&nbsp;This paper addresses the reorganization process of public junior high schools in the Tottori Prefecture. This paper considers that the local government finished the consolidation of junior high schools in the first half of the 1970s and organized a new junior high establishment status that were implemented in 1947. This paper aims to clarify the relationship between the municipal merger and the consolidation of junior high schools in Showa in each municipality since 1953.<br>&nbsp;3. Conclusion<br>&nbsp;After World War II, the Tottori Prefecture had many municipalities compared to the expected number for its resident population, and many small new junior high schools were founded in 1947. In 1950, the Prefecture Board of Education established the "junior high school maintenance strengthening of the principle matters, " which included the policy of establishing joint junior high schools that are shared by several small municipalities. The "junior high school maintenance strengthening promotion committee" determined and encouraged the amalgamation for 22 junior high schools. However, after enforcing the Municipal Merger Promotion Law of 1953, small-scale municipalities were themselves amalgamated as a result of a recommendation based on a merger plan encouraging prefecture governments. There was little relationship between the recommended municipal areas and the catchment area of joint junior high schools, and recommendations regarding municipal mergers were prioritized. Therefore, the "Five-Year School Reorganization Plan" of 1954 proposed the junior high school reorganization policies that were considered the future municipal mergers.<br>&nbsp;Of the 36 municipalities that negotiated the merger agreement at the time of merging of Showa, 21 municipalities promoted the amalgamation of junior high schools in the first half of the 1970s, became each town 1 junior high school. The result of the municipal merger of Showa had a major impact on the timing and scope of the reorganization of junior high schools. In particular, nine municipalities that wrote amalgamation of the future in merger agreement amalgamated junior high school of all municipalities during 1956-1964, became each town 1 junior high school. In this way, the towns and villages section became the basically format of each municipality 1 junior high school that was restructured school by the municipal merger.<br>&nbsp;At that time, the Tottori Prefectural Board of Education urged the amalgamation of different schools into one school that can be shared by more than one municipality. A consolidation of junior high schools was completed in the early stages of the 1970s. Since then, the operation of junior high schools has been stable for over 40 years.

他者の援助が必要な困窮状態にあるとき,適切に援助を要請出来ないことは,不都合な結果を招きかねない.本研究では,援助要請を抑制する心理的要因の一つとして,対人感受性の高さ,および一般的信頼の低さに起因する,他者の行動に対しての評価判断の慎重化を扱った.とりわけ,低信頼者かつ対人感受性高群において,「他者の心的状態を察知する判断能力はあるものの,信頼出来るという決定的な判断や信頼行動に踏み切れない」という,従来の信頼研究では見過ごされてきたパターンの実証を試みた.本研究では大学生470名に対して質問紙調査を実施し,評価者の一般的信頼と対人感受性に関する尺度得点が,いじめの相談場面における教師への評価におよぼす影響を検討した.その結果,低信頼者は感受性が高く,高信頼者は感受性が低いときに,苦境場面におけるサポート者をより好意的に判断するという相補的な結果が得られた.よって,援助要請が必要となる苦境場面において,対人感受性の強さがサポート者に対しての印象評価にネガティブな影響をおよぼすという予測は高信頼者においてのみ実証され,低信頼者においては予測とは真逆の結果となった.

Planning, or an internal process of making decisions about one's future behavior, appears advantageous not only for humans but also for non-human species. In fact, recent studies have shown that many non-human primates as well as some avian species may be endowed with planning capacities. Those animals are suggested to plan in order to meet not only present but also future needs, as opposed to the Bischof-Köhler hypothesis. Testing planning in a wider variety of species using various setups would be required to uncover phylogenetic and ecological factors that may have facilitated evolution of planning. In particular, it is important to examine planning abilities by using general learning tasks instead of species-specific situations such as tool-use and food-caching. After reviewing evidence on planning by non-human animals, we introduce recent findings about planning by pigeons in operant tasks including computerized navigation and maze tasks. Planning capacities may be shared across species from wider-ranging taxa than have been assumed. Metacognition of planning would serve as one of the most important topics for the future quest.
