本研究では、盲導犬として使用されるラブラドール・レトリーバーの遺伝性疾患の頻度調査を行った。盲導犬集団での遺伝性疾患の頻度と交配個体の遺伝子型が明らかになり、調査した遺伝性疾患について出産を抑制する交配コントロールが可能となった。・運動誘発性虚脱1強い運動によって誘発される神経疾患である。174頭の盲導犬を調査して、発症犬が13頭(7.45%)、キャリアが58頭(33.3%)、野生型が103頭(59.2%)であった。運動誘発性虚脱の遺伝子頻度は24.1%で、野生型の遺伝子頻度は75.9%と算出され、運動誘発性虚脱は盲導犬集団に非常に広く浸透していることが明らかになった。遺伝子検査が可能となり、交配コントロールができる目処が付いた。・中心核ミオパチー:主に欧米で発症が認められる疾患である。149頭の盲導犬を調査して、発症犬が0頭、キャリアが1頭(0.68%)、野生型が148頭(99.3%)であった。盲導犬集団内にはほとんど浸透していないと考えられた。発症犬の期待値頻度は0.0011%であり、母集団が2,000頭余りの盲導犬集団には発症犬はいないことが明らかになった。・進行性網膜萎縮症:遅発性の網膜症で、発症犬は6~8歳で視力を失う。170頭の盲導犬を調査して、発症犬が0頭、キャリアが9頭(5.3%)、野生型が161頭(94.7%)であった。盲導犬協会では眼科検査(表現型の検査)によって、発症犬を選別し交配コントロールを実施している。その結果が顕著に現れていることが明らかになった。発症犬の期待値頻度は0.07%であり、盲導犬集団内からは進行性網膜萎縮症の変異遺伝子はほぼ排除されていると考えられた。・ナルコレプシー:発作性睡眠と呼ばれる神経疾患で、アメリカでの発症が報告されている。148頭の盲導犬を調査し、発症犬およびキャリアともに0頭であった。148頭全てが野生型で、盲導犬集団内には変異遺伝子が無いと考えられた。

In order to promote increases in the size of ‘Kosui’ Japanese pear [Pyrus pyrifolia (Burm.) Nakai] fruit by plant growth regulators, we applied gibberellin (GA)3+4 paste [2.7% (w/w), A3:A4 = 90:10] in combination with prohexadione-calcium [1%, PCa; BAS-125 (3-oxido-4-propionyl-5-oxo-3-cyclohexene-carboxylate)], an inhibitor of GA 2β-hydroxylation that catabolizes active GA into an inactive form, to fruit pedicels at approximately 30 days after full bloom. GA3+4+PCa treatment advanced fruit growth only in the early stages, but fruit weight did not show any significant differences between the untreated control and GA3+4+PCa-treated fruits at harvest. In contrast, when GA4+7 [2.7% (w/w), A4:A7 = 66:34] was applied, the fruit weight at harvest was greater than that of untreated fruit. Moreover, GA4+7 treatment in combination with PCa resulted in an even higher fruit weight at harvest. The GA4 concentration in fruit flesh was not affected by GA3+4 application at 1 week after the treatment (WAT) either with or without PCa, but GA4 levels increased with GA4+7+PCa treatment, resulting in a significant increase in fruit weight at harvest. A single GA4+7 application almost doubled the GA4 concentration compared with the untreated control, but the difference was not significant. These results indicate that fruit weight at harvest was greater when the GA4 concentration was higher in the fruit flesh at 1 WAT. The higher concentration of GA4 in the GA4+7+PCa-treated fruit compared with the GA4+7 treatment alone may be attributed to the function of PCa that acts to prevent the inactivation of GA4 to GA34 by inhibiting 2β-hydroxylation.

Five iridoid glycosides, including the two new compounds scropolioside-D2 (1) and harpagoside-B (2), were isolated from the aerial parts of Scrophularia deserti DEL (Scrophulariaceae). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral data to be 6-O-[2″,4″-di-O-acetyl-3″-O-trans-cinnamoyl)-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl]-8α-hydroxymethyl-1α,5β,6α,7α,9β-pentahydro-7(8)-epoxy-2-oxaind-3-ene-1-O-β-D-glucopyranoside-6′-O-acetate (1) and 5-O-β-hydroxy-8-O-β-trans-cinnamoyl-8α-methyl-1,6,7,9-tetrahydro-2-oxaind-3-ene-1-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), respectively. In addition, three more iridoid glycosides, scropolioside-D (3), koelzioside (4), and 8-O-acetyl-harpagide (5), were also isolated and characterized from this source. The biological activity and the structure activity relationship of the compounds were also studied, and scropolioside-D (3) and harpagoside-B (2) were found to possess significant antidiabetic and antiinflammatory activity, respectively.

How does a reciprocal communal sharing system come into existence in a sustainable form in human societies? The anthropological literature has provided two explanations for the origin of communal sharing under uncertainty: risk reduction by social sharing (Kaplan & Hill, 1985) and tolerated theft (Blurton Jones, 1984, 1987; Winterhalder, 1986, 1996). In this paper, we aim to develop a third explanation focusing on the emergence of a communal sharing norm. A communal sharing norm here refers to a social norm designating uncertain resources as common properties. A series of computer simulations based on an evolutionary game framework suggests that such a communal sharing norm is indeed evolvable. We argue that the evolutionary game analysis can be a powerful tool in cognitive science to derive empirical hypotheses concerning various cognitive and behavioral mechanisms.

日本の苗字が備えている種々の性質を明らかにすることを目的として 苗字データベースを作成し その計量的分析を行った. ここでは より普遍的なデータの収集をねらいとして 約7.1万個から成る日本の苗字データベースを作成した. このデータベースをもとに 苗字に出現する文字の種類や頻度 文字位置とそこに出現する文字の種類など 文字と文字連接に関する統計データを求めた. これより 日本の苗字には文字位置によって 出現する文字の種類とその頻度に大きな偏りのあることが明らかになった. さらに 実際の使用頻度を考慮した分析として 市販の電話帳データベースを利用した検索により 苗字の使用頻度 苗字ならびに文字と文字連接のエントロピーなどを測定した. これより 苗字のエントロピーは英単語のそれにほぼ等しいことが明らかになった. また ここで得られた苗字の諸性質は 宛名や個人情報の文字認識において 苗字部分の文字切り出しでの知識として利用したり 認識対象文字の種類を決定 限定したりするのに利用することが可能であり 認識精度の向上につながることが期待される.

As in about ten years the new mining machines and technics were imported, the mining method in Japan were changed remarkably.Natural condition of coal seam in Japan (1956)Working depth (Average) 334.7m(Maximum) 836mAverage thickness of seam 1.71mAverage thickness of coal 1.31mOutput from coal face 48.281Mill. t.About 65% of output is worked by longwall method. About 36% of output is gotten by blasting, and 36% by coal picks in coal face, but coal cutters are used pretly well. Hobels are used in Emukae, Takashima, Kogayama and Mitsubishi-Bibai. 55% of output is conveyed Panzer conveyor at coal face.Hydraulic stowing is carried out at Onoura and pneumatic stowing is used at Yamano, Akabira and Sakito coal mines. Slicing method for thick seam is carried out at Hojo and Takashima coal mines.We must decrease the number of coal faces in one pit and increase the output per one coal face, and use the practical working time effectively.

The coal seam of Shikamachi coal mine, belonging to Hokusho district in Sasebo coal field, is thin, from 0.35 to 0.5 meter high, and soft. The coal of which is called strongly caking coal.Before, the stripping scraper was employed, hand-digging had been held only.We investigated and tested practicaly the stripping scraper as the mining machine that can be applied to the above conditional seam.Now we have used it practically.In this report, we describe simply about the following articles.1. Mechamizm of the stripping scraper.2. The state of operation in faces.3. The results.4. Comparison of efficiency between stripping scraper and hand-digging.

The physicochemical properties, fatty acid profiles, content of tocopherol and sterol of the oils extracted from the nuts of Elaeagnus mollis Diels grown in different regions of China were studied in this work. The results indicated that the Elaeagnus mollis Diels nut oils contained about 0.2% sterols and the tocopherol contents were in the range of 119.6-128.6mg/100g. The nut oils were all rich in unsaturated fatty acids, especially oleic acid and linoleic acid. Furthermore, the main triacylglycerols species of the nut oils were all dilinoleoyl-monoolein (LOL), dioleoyl-monolinoleoyl (OLO) and trilinoleate (LLL). This work might be useful for developing applications for Elaeagnus mollis Diels nut oil.
