Modeling the pressure-diffusion process is discussed to improve the prediction of turbulent recirculating flows by a second moment closure. Since the recent DNS research of a turbulent recirculating flow suggeted that the pressure-diffusion process of the turbulence energy was significant in the recirculating region, the present study focuses on the rapid part of the process consisting of the mean shear. This rapid pressure-diffusion model is developed for the Reynolds stress equation using the two-component limit turbulence condition and added to a low Reynolds number two-component-limit full second moment closure for evaluation. Its effects are discussed through applications of turbulent recirculating flows such as a trailing-edge and a back-step flows. Encouraging results are obtained though some margins to be improved still remain.

もの忘れをはじめ,言語,遂行機能, 問題解決などの様々な認知機能障害を呈する疾患のひとつに認知症がある(DSM-IV)。リーディングスパンテスト(RST, Daneman & Carpenter, 1980)はワーキングメモリ(Working Memory: WM)を測定する検査のひとつであり,前頭葉機能を反映すると考えられている。本研究はSPECTによる局所脳血流(regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF))をRSTの成績に基づいて分析することにより,RSTの成績差からみた,もの忘れを訴える患者の脳循環動態の相違や,RSTの認知症診断における有用性について考察することを目的とした。対象は,もの忘れを主訴として来院した在宅高齢者33 名であった。検査は,高齢者版RST(苧阪,2002),MMSE,SPECTを実施した。RSTの成績を高得点群と低得点群に分けて,領域別rCBF について統計分析を行った結果,RST高得点群と低得点群のrCBFの間に有意差を認める脳領域があった。しかし,MMSEの成績によりMMSE高得点群とMMSE低得点群に分けて各rCBFを分析すると,いずれの脳領域のrCBFにおいても有意差を認めなかった。さらに,認知症タイプ間にも各脳領域のrCBFに有意差を認めなった。以上より,RSTの成績差に影響を与えると考えられる脳領域や,RSTの臨床的意義について考察をした。

Science of complexity studied in Santa Fe Institute covers all complex phenomena such as human beings, brains and economics. It aims to search "how does complexity arise from simple laws?" or "what is a paradigm characterising the behavior of complex systems?". Our study of complex liquids also aims to discern the possibility and the limit of the conventional methodology in physics (reductionism) and to find a key to a new paradigm.

This paper is intended as an investigation of the developmental task of clinical psychology today in Japan. Clinical psychology is now beginning to develop a large profile and a more serious role in Japanese society, but it is rather difficult to draw a definite perspective to develop it as a profession in the society. At first, we review the history of clinical psychology in Japan to describe difficulties it is now facing. Then we consider the comparison between clinical psychology in the U.K. and in Japan to focus on a feature of Japanese clinical psychology. It is shown that there is confusion about what clinical psychology, psychotherapy and counselling exactly are in Japan and the confusion has caused many problems of Japanese clinical psychology. The comparative analysis also indicates that finding ways to some integration is necessary to surmount the difficulties and problems. So we can say that it is actually a developmental task of clinical psychology today in Japan.

The Six Dynasties was a period of considerable importance in the history of Chinese painting. In spite of this, it has been difficult to clarify a concrete image of the period due to the lack of extant examples. Thus, past research on Six Dynasties painting has tended to restrict itself mainly to abstract theory centered on descriptions from painting histories and theory. The lacquer screens excavated from the Sima Jinlong grave in Datong, Shanxi Province in 1965 are original Six Dynasties works which can be dated the eighth year of the Dahe era (484) in the Northern Wei dynasty, and are therefore examples of exceptional value to painting research. This paper makes clear the pictorial character of these lacquer screens by consideration of their content and expression. For the subject matter of most of these screen paintings is a visual representation of the Confucian moral viewpoint, based on the moral principles popular in the Han period. Also, when they are compared to works with similar themes, such as "Admonitions to the Court Ladies" (Nushizhen, in the British Museum), attributed to Gu Kaizhi, and "Illustrious Women" (Lienu, in Beijing Palace Museum), one can see that there are similarities in expression and Composition. Comparison shows that three works all belong to the same type of painting, and clearly shows us one aspect of Six Dynasties painting.
