我々はPAP-1の結合因子を質量分析により網羅的同定を行ったところ、これまでに5種類の結合タンパク質を同定した。驚いたことにその中の一つに前述のEPB41L5が同定されたことから、劣性型RPの原因遺伝子Crb1と優性型RPの原因遺伝子PAP-1が共通の結合因子EPB41L5を持つことが明らかとなった。EPB41L5にはC末端が異なるL、Sの2種類のスプライシングアイソフォームが存在するが、PAP-1結合因子として得られたのはC末端側が短いアイソフォーム(EPB41L5-S)だけであった。また、EPB41L5-Sは通常細胞質に局在するが、PAP-1の存在下では核内に蓄積することを観察しており、PAP-1はEPB41L5-Sを核内にリクルートできると考えている。これらの知見は、劣勢、優勢の網膜色素変性症に共通な分子基盤が存在することを意味しているのかもしれない。更に、PAP-1のスプライシングターゲット遺伝子の探索を行い、複数の候補遺伝子を同定した。

第41回FID (International Federation for Documentation ; FEDERATION INTERNATIONALE DE DOCUMENTATION) 香港大会は, 昭和57年9月12日から9月16日まで世界37か国から, 二百数十人の参加者を得て, 香港理工学院 (Hong Kong Polytechnic) Barry Burton氏を大会委員長に, 全体テーマ"情報技術への挑戦"(The Challenge of Information Technology) を掲げて, 終始活発な討議が行われた。大会では, セッションをA~Hに分けて催されたが, ここでは印象に残ったセッションB:情報技術の今日と, セッションC:情報技術の明日でのレポータ-の発表内容と, 大会開催地香港の2大学 (香港理工学院・香港中文大学) の図書館の横顔を紹介したい。

A 10-year-old castrated male mixed-breed dog exhibited vomiting, lethargy and anorexia. An abdominal ultrasound examination revealed a focal dilation of the abdominal aorta. The dog died 2 days after examination, and necropsy revealed a ruptured aneurysm at the abdominal aorta between the kidneys. Histological examination revealed severe granulomatous and necrotizing pan-arteritis with fungal organisms. Graphium species was identified through DNA sequence analysis of the PCR product from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded samples. To our knowledge, this is the first report of aortic aneurysm caused by Graphium species in a dog.

Feline upper respiratory tract infection due to Aspergillus spp. is considered an emerging disease, with the number of reported cases continuing to rise. In this study, we report the first case of feline sinonasal aspergillosis caused by Aspergillus fischeri in Japan. The patient presented after 2 months of progressive facial deformity around the nose and nasal discharge. The isolate from this case was susceptible to itraconazole (ITZ), voriconazole, and micafungin, but was resistant to amphotericine B. However, the infected cat died approximately 1 month after referral, despite treatment for 12 days ITZ administered orally at 10 mg/kg.

琉球列島八重山諸島の西表島より,キノボリヤモリ(Hemiphyllodactylus typus typus)の1雌が採集された.これは本種の日本からの最初の記録である.今回採集された標本の外部形態について記載し,検討を加えた.この標本は,本亜種が西表島へ最近移入されたことを示すものと思われる.

This study investigated the influences of age and length of education on gender conception, and the influences in turn of the conception on gender-role attitudes and preference, with multiple regression analysis. Of a random sample of 1 500 Tokyo residents, aged between 20 and 60, 342 women and 313 men completed a questionnaire concerning their views of gender. The questions were structured to measure their agreement to gender-stereotyped opinions and behaviors. Results were as follows: (1) The older both men and women were, the more rigid their gender conception was. (2) The longer the respondent's education was, the more flexible their gender conception was. (3) These tendencies were stronger for women than men. (4) Pass analysis indicated that age, education, and parents' gender-typed expectation affected gender conception, which in turn influenced gender-role attitudes, and also that gender-roles were chosen on the basis of gender-role attitudes. It was concluded that age and length of education affected gender-role attitudes and preference, through gender conception in the context of gender schematic processing.

レーザー多光子イオン化法により吸光性分子を選択的にイオン化し, 電気電導度測定により高感度に検出することができる.溶液中や固体表面の吸光性試料にレーザーを集光照射して多光子イオン化の機構を調べ, それをもとに分析手法の最適化を行った.無極性溶媒中の吸光性分子の超高感度分析ではpptレベルの検出感度を得た.固体表面での光イオン化では単分子層の1%程度の検出感度を得た.液表面を利用すれば極性溶媒についてもpptレベルの検出感度が得られる.この手法は高速液体クロマトグラフ検出器としても利用できることを示した.これらの結果よりレーザー多光子イオン化法が有用な機器分析法であると結論した.
