デジタル・ヒューマニティーズの第1波は1990年代に現れ、第2波「デジタル・ヒューマニティーズ2.0」は2000年代後半から始まった。今や研究者たちは、デジタル複製物を現物の代替物として利用するだけで満足していた段階を過ぎ、「デジタルならではの強み」を学問に応用することに新しい可能性を見ている。デジタル・ヒューマニティーズは「知の媒体」変化を伴っているためにきわめてインパクトが大きく、私たちは、デジタル・ヒューマニティーズがデジタルの功罪と相関関係にあることに何度も立ち戻る。The first wave of digital humanities had emerged in the late 1990s, and it shifted to the second or 'Digital Humanities 2.0' in the late 2000s. Researchers are now beginning to explore the new possibility for applying 'the real advantages of being digital' to humanities and social sciences, passing through the stage in which they were satisfied to use the digital as a duplicate of the original. Digital humanities has a huge impact accompanied with the shift of 'the medium for producing and disseminating knowledge'. We repeatedly return to the fact that digital humanities is significantly affected by the merits and demerits of the digital.

Advertising sign of the restaurants contains many information on it, for example, daily bargain products or recommendation of the house etc. The characters (fonts) used in the signboards may also transfer some information to the consumer. The aim of this study was to investigate a question that "what kind of restaurants image does the characters on the signboards conjure up?" Field survey showed that the fonts on the signboards can be divided into seven types as Mincho, Kaku-Gothic (block), Maru-Gothic (round-edge block), Kaisho, Gyosho, Kantei-ryu, and Reisho. All types of restaurants use Mincho and Kaku-Gothic fonts on the signboards. Mincho has common and uncute image, and Kaku-Gothic contains festive and accessible image. These two fonts may be used because they have the common touch for ordinary people. In fact, Mincho font conjures up the image of all seven types of restaurants (okonomiyaki shop, curry shop, ordinary, cafe, Italian restaurant, Chinese restaurant and ramen shop). On the other hand, Kaku-Gothic conjures up the images of shops other than cafe and Italian restaurants, but the percentage of questionee those who imagined other five types of restaurants was high. Each font may have unique latent potential to conjure up some kind of restaurant or food.

イヌにおいてメデトミジン20μg/kgとミダゾラム0.3mg/kg(Me-Mi), あるいはメデトミジン20μ/kgとブトルファノール0.1mg/kg(Me-B)を組み合わせて投与し, 得られた鎮静効果を, メデトミジン20, 40および80μg/kg(Me20, Me40, Me80)を単独投与した場合の効果と比較検討した. その結果, Me-MiおよびMe-Bでは非常に迅速に強力な鎮静効果が得られ, 約40分間の最大効果発現時には, いずれのイヌも完全に横臥し, 周囲環境, 音刺激に反応せず, 中程度の反射抑制と鎮痛作用が得られ, さらにMe-Miでは自発運動も全く消失し, 優れた筋弛緩作用も得られた. これに対しMe40, Me80では, その鎮静効果はMe-Mi, Me-Bに比べて弱くまた個体間のばらつきもやや大きかった. Me20ではその効果はさらに弱かった. イヌにおいてメデトミジンをミダゾラムあるいはブトルファノールと併用すると, 両者が相乗的に作用することにより低用量のメデトミジンを用いても, 強力な安定した鎮静効果が得られるものと考えられ, とくにメデトミジン-ミダゾラムの組み合わせでは非常に優れた鎮静状態が得られ, イヌの鎮静法として幅広く応用可能で有用であると考えられた.

評価は分かれるにせよ、日本の近代化に福沢諭吉がひとつの役割を果たしたことは確かである。ゆえに福沢は現在まで、国内外を問わず数多くの研究者によって論じられてきた。しかし近年、福沢研究が抱える史料的な問題点が明らかになった。本稿では現在の福沢研究が抱える史料的課題と、解決するための一策として書簡史料の利用について論じ、一例として福沢の女性論に対し、書簡史料を利用することによって新たにどのような議論が展開できるのかを報告する。
