津波史料をもとに別府湾沿岸を現地調査し,地盤高をふまえて各地の津波の高さ(平均海面上)や浸水域の広がりを検討した.大分市内では,流失した寺院の分布から津波の高さは4~5.5mに推定され,地盤高ぶおよそ4m以内の範囲が浸水域とみなされる.別府湾口の奈多と佐賀関ではそれぞれ7~8mと6~7mの波高に達し,湾外の上浦で4m,臼杵では3~4mと推定される.津波マグニチュードは今村・飯田スケールでm=2と格付けされる.津波・震度分布および周辺のテクトニクスから判断すれば,波源域は別府湾を包み東西方向に50km程度の長さがあったと推定される.また,瓜生島・神場洲の地盤沈降の記録は別府湾が陥没したことを暗示し,高角正断層の地震により津波が発生したと考える.

The evolutional account in studies of human facial attractiveness has contributed to increasing number of research and many discoveries about determinants of our preferences. In this paper, current psychological studies about determinants of facial attractiveness judgment, including both universality and individual differences are reviewed. Future research should be dealt with cognitive and emotional process underlying attractiveness judgments.

This is a collection of the records written by a journalist and an opinion-leader in the domain of religion: MATANI Ruikotsu(1869-1956). It is supplemented by the manuscripts and narratives of his adopted daughter Fumiko(1919-1999). As one of her sons, I used to listen to her tell of adventures in Kyoto, Yamaguchi, and Inner Mongolia during the time of Imperial Japan. At the age of five, she met with her mother's mother Yone. Having grown up in a family belonging to the Feudal Clan of Mōri(todayʼs Yamaguchi), Yone herself was like a samurai. When Fumiko began working in the newspaper company Chūgai Nippō in 1928, the owner-editor of the paper Ruikotsumade her to work as his secretary. Among many other celebrities, she encountered a vagabond Haiku poet Santōka. When she decided to seek refuge from the ultra-patriotism of Imperial Japan, she took a honeymoon in a remote place: Inner Mongolia, where her future husband worked for the intelligence services as a young Buddhist.

再使用PETボトルの衛生性を調べるために,新品のボトルと比較しながら食品用擬似溶媒(蒸留水,4%酢酸,20%エタノール,n-Heptane)を用いて溶出試験を行った.全溶出量と高速液体クロマトグラフによるPET樹脂出来のモノマー・オリゴマー類(テレフタール酸:TPA,ジメチルテレフタール酸:DMT,モノヒドロオキシテレフタール酸:MHET,モノメチルテレフタール酸:MMT,ビスヒドロオキシテレフタール酸:BHET,エチレンテレフタレート環状三量体:CT)を定量した.その結果,全溶出量もモノマー・オリゴマー類も再使用したボトルの方が新品のボトルに比して溶出量が多いことが判った.また,繰り返し回数が増えるに従い溶出量も増加し増加の仕方も溶出溶媒に依存する事が明らかになった.但しその溶出量は極めて低く,現段階ではその衛生性は高いといえるが,繰り返し回数については注意する必要があると考えられる.

幕末の開国政策を背景に,第二次幕領期(1855 ~1868 年)に東北6 藩および松前藩が江戸幕府より蝦夷地の分担警衛を命じられた。これら諸藩は,蝦夷地ならびに国後・択捉・樺太の合計22 ヵ所に軍事拠点となる陣屋を建設するとともに,数十~数百人単位で藩兵を各地の陣屋に派遣した。その一方で,蝦夷地支配の中核機関であった箱館奉行所も,1857(安政4)年には箱館市街地の守衛に備えて市街地郊外に五稜郭の建設を開始した。 五稜郭や陣屋遺構の一部については国史跡などに指定され,それらについては今日でも空中写真や地図で確認できるが,一部の陣屋については市街地化や施設建設に伴って遺構が消滅し,五稜郭も建設当時とはその様相を大きく変えている。そこで本稿では,箱館近在に建設された五稜郭,遺構が確認できない弘前藩元陣屋(千代ヶ台陣屋)・盛岡藩元陣屋(水元陣屋)を取り上げ,建設時に作成された絵図面などを用いて,GIS ソフト上で建設当時におけるこれら防御的施設の復原作業を行った。 その結果,建設当時の五稜郭の形状や元陣屋の位置・縄張りを示した実測絵図「箱館亀田 一円切図〔人〕」(函館市中央図書館蔵)・「箱舘表之図 一」(盛岡市中央公民館旧蔵)をもとに,元陣屋の位置を比定することができた。また,絵図面に記載された地理空間情報をGIS データ化することで,五稜郭や元陣屋における建設当時の三次元景観復原や,さらにはデータソースが異なる絵図情報の一元化が可能となった。このことは,古地図・絵図のGIS 分析が,歴史地理学的命題の解決に向けてより有効な手段となりうることを示すとともに,他の陣屋の復原に際してもそうした手法が援用できるものと考える。

Objectives: To ascertain the dynamic stretch effects of flexibility of the hamstrings on lumbar spine and pelvic kinematics. Background: Tight hamstrings are positively correlated with low back pain. However, it is unclear how flexibility of the hamstrings affects spino-pelvic rhythm. Methods: Twelve healthy men participated in the study. The straight leg raising (SLR) angle, finger floor distance (FFD), and spino-pelvic rhythm was measured before and after the 6-week stretching protocol. The forward bending task was divided into 4 phases. The paired t-test was used to determine significant differences before and after the FFD, SLR angle, lumbar motion, and pelvic motion, and spino-pelvic rhythm in each phase (p<0.05). Results: After 6 weeks of stretching, significant improvements were seen in the FFD with maximum forward bending and in the SLR angle. Total pelvic rotation was also significantly increased in contrast to total lumbar flexion. A decreased spino-pelvic ratio was seen in the final phase. Conclusion: Dynamic stretching could change the spino-pelvic rhythm to a pelvis-dominant motion, indicating that flexible hamstrings are important for preventing low back pain. J. Med. Crustal stress measurements by the hydraulic fracturing method were carried out using a 1000m- and a 100m-deep boreholes drilled at Inagawa town, Hyogo prefecture, where earthquake swarm activities with very shallow hypocenters have intermittently occurred since July 1994. On borehole televiewer record, borehole breakouts were clearly observed at a number of depth intervals of the 1000m-deep borehole. The borehole breakout data as well as the hydraulic fracturing data was used to estimate orientation of the maximum horizontal compressive stress.Magnitudes of the horizontal stress down to 700m in depth are comparable to the standard stress gradients with depth in western Japan derived by TANAKA (1986). On the other hand, the maximum and minimum horizontal compressive stresses at about 950m in depth are about 70MPa and 40MPa, respectively, which are about twice as large as the standard stress gradients with depth in western Japan. The maximum horizontal compressive stress below 600m in depth is generally oriented E-W to NW-SE.
