「感謝」と「謝罪」という異なった言語行動が日本語では両方とも「すみません」で表現できるという事象を、Brown and Levinson(1987)が「感謝」と「謝罪」をFace Threatening Act=FTA として同じカテゴリーに分類していることを切り口に「丁寧さのストラテジー」によって説明する。そして、日本語学習者用テキストやドラマのシナリオから感謝の意味を持つ「すみません」と「ありがとう」との使い分けを分析し、特に日本語では話し手と聞き手の相対的力関係や社会的規範がこれらの言語行動の違いに強く影響していることを言及する。また、アンケートの結果から、近年では感謝の気持ちを表すのに「すみません」より誤解の少ない「ありがとう」を用いる者が多いことが明らかになった。

In the process of forming the general theory of relativity, demands of the theoretical principle play an important part, and these are regarded as the basis that the general theory of relativity is a relativistic theory of space and time, combined with Einstein's philosophical reference. However, historically speaking, the general theory of relativity was not constructed on some theoretical stipulations in a consistent way, but rather it went through some shifts of them. So by scrutinizing these shifts, we may clarify the actual process of the theory's construction. In this paper, we pay attention to two ideas, "the relativity of inertia" and "Mach's principle," which are not regarded as a theoretical principle of the general theory of relativity nowadays. And we will try to give an answer to the following questions: (1) why Einstein thought that "Mach's principle" was important as a theoretical principle when the general theory of relativity completed, (2) why he thought "Mach's principle" was related to what Ernst Mach claimed, and (3) what is the idea which was called "the relativity of inertia." Making these ideas clear contributes to solve some confusions on the foundation of the general theory of relativity.

Tamura Toshiko’s Haru no ban (Spring Night, 1914), serialized in the literary journal Shinchō, depicts a bisexual women Ikue and her two intimate relationships: a heterosexual relation with Shikeo and a lesbian relation with Kyōko. The narrative of Ikue’s two intimate relationships occupies the first and second half of the text respectively. In this article, I first analyze the text of the first half to show the subversion of heterosexism in the narrative; then, I examine the lesbian representation of the text of the second half to suggest its possibility of deconstructing the category of “lesbian,” which was established by contemporary sexology. Previous studies have interpreted the text of the first half as a story in which heterosexism is immanent. However, as I argue in this paper, if we read the text with focused attention on its multilayered construction, we can find that the narrative of physical sensations in the text, which is barely utilized in the context of heterosexual love, subverts heterosexism. After analyzing the subversion of heterosexism of the narrative, I focus on the lesbian representation in the text. In this work, female same-sex love, described as kikei (deformity), seems to be reproducing the discourse of sexology, and to be easily exposed to scopophilia towards lesbians. However, by taking notice of the discrepancy between textual representation and sexological discourse, I argue that lesbian representation in this work does not reproduce the sexological discourse but deconstructs the sexological definition of lesbianism as sexual perversion.

A new construct "Assumed-Competence based on undervaluing others (AC is short for the construct)" was proposed to explain adolescents' behaviors in these days. AC was defined as the habitual feeling of competence that would be followed by one's criticizing or undervaluing others regardless of how much he/she had directly positive or negative experiences. To measure the individual differences of AC, the assumed-competence scale (ACS is short for the scale) consisting of 11 items was constructed. The purpose of this study was to examine the construct validity of ACS by showing the relations with several psychological constructs which have logical associations with AC. In the meanwhile, self-esteem (SE is short for it) mean true competence based on really positive and negative experiences. That is, SE could be clearly discriminated from AC. Thus, to make clear discriminating validity of ACS, SE was measured as well as AC when the relations with other psychologicl constructs were investigated. Seven psychological constructs we used here as criteria of validity were (1)locus of control, (2)public and private self-awareness, (3)loneliness, (4)sympathy, (5)emotion of anger. (6)pleasure and displeasure experiences (during lately three months) and (7)life satisfaction. Participants were 124 junior college students, 258 university students and 11 graduate students. Correlation coefficients between AC,SE and seven psychological constructs were calculated. The results were interpreted by focusing only significant correlations. Concerning self, although SE was related positively to internal control, AC was not, whereas positive relation between ACS and private self-awareness was shown. Next, regarding with interpersonal relationship, AS had positive relations to loneliness, that is, the persons whose AS are high thought that human could not understand each other and they were strongly aware of individuality. Also negative correlation was presented between AC and sympathy. In the meantime, SE had no relation to the variables of interpersonal relationships. In tern, emotion as a criterion of validity was examined. AC was related positively with trait-anger, expression of anger and displeasure experiences in academic and friendship situations. Furthermore, AC had negative relation to life satisfaction. On the contrary, SE was correlated positively with pleasure experiences and life satisfaction. Based on the results mentioned above, we judged ACS to have construct validity to some extent. Finally we suggested the possibility of classification of AC in the relation with SE.

本研究は、小中学生のインターネット使用状況から、その依存傾向と生活習慣を調査した。 対象は1 自治体の全小中学校に通う小学4 ~ 6 年生849 名、中学1 ~ 3 年生896 名で、自記 式質問紙調査を実施した。 その結果、インターネットに「依存傾向」の子どもは小学生7.5%、中学生22.0%、全体 で15.9%にみられ、その割合は中学2 年生、中学3 年生に高く、また女子に高かった。依存 傾向の者は、インターネットを使用する時間が長く、複数の機器を使用している者、持ち運 び可能な機器を使用している者、自分専用の機器を所持している者、使用目的が多岐にわた る者、使用の際のルールがない者に多かった。 依存傾向者は、依存のない者やインターネットを使用しない者に比べ、就寝時刻が遅かっ た。また、小学生では学習時間が短く、中学生では運動時間が短く、インターネットへの依 存傾向が生活習慣に影響を及ぼしていることが示唆された。
