国際規範に関する分析は概して,システムレベルの規範の普及に着目している.本稿では,そのような分析はネオリアリズム,新自由主義制度派,構造主義などに根ざしており,主に二つの問題があると主張する.一つは,それらの分析が普及に成功した規範の実例に多大な関心を払っているのに対し,失敗したものについては見過ごしていることである.もう一つの問題はそれらの分析が,規範の普及する過程において国際規範と国内構造がどのように関連しているかを検証できていないことである.この関連を見過ごすことにより,システムレベルの研究は国際規範が国内の領域に広がる具体的なメカニズムとプロセスを明らかにできないでいる.本稿は国内構造(特に文化・政治的構造)が国内レベルにおける国際規範の普及を可能にする主要要素であると主張する.日本における反捕鯨規範の受け入れ拒否を分析するにあたり本稿は,このような国内構造が反捕鯨規範の出現や受け入れを阻むフィルターとして機能していると論じるものである.

救急医療の現場には,自殺企図や故意の自傷により受傷した患者が頻繁に搬送され,その多くが急性薬物中毒によるものであり,特に向精神薬の過量服薬が大部分を占めている。本研究では,北里大学病院救命救急センターに搬送された急性薬物中毒患者81名(男性:18名,女性:63名)を対象に質問紙調査を実施し,向精神薬の過量服薬の実態および関連する心理社会的要因について検討を行った。80名(98.8%)が何らかの精神障害に罹患していた。自殺念慮の有無における過量服薬した向精神薬の量に違いが認められなかったが,数時間以上前から過量服薬を考えていた患者は,衝動的に過量服薬した患者に比べて,摂取する量が有意に多かった。患者の心理社会的背景として,無職で家族・恋人・友人といった身近な人間とのトラブルを契機に衝動的に過量服薬する傾向が認められた。今後,精神障害の治療に加え心理社会的介入の必要性が示唆された。

Japanese “onomatopoeic” words (also called mimetics and ideophones) are more frequent in spoken discourse, especially in informal daily conversations, than in writing. It is a common belief that onomatopoeia is particularly frequent in some areas, such as the Kinki region. To examine the plausibility of this folk dialectology, we investigated the frequency of onomatopoeia in the Minutes of the Diet as a corpus of spoken Japanese. We examined whether there is really a difference in the use of onomatopoeia among the eleven major regions of Japan. We analyzed the conversation data (limited to the last two decades) according to the hometowns of the speakers. The results revealed that there is no cross-regional difference in the overall frequency of onomatopoeia and non-onomatopoeic adverbs. However, a particular morphological type of onomatopoeia?i.e., “emphatic” onomatopoeia, such as hakkiri ‘clearly’?did show a regional variation in frequency. The results suggest that different types of onomatopoeia have different functions. The present study introduced a “macro-viewpoint” method that is based on a large-scale database. Further investigations into the functional aspect of onomatopoeia will also benefit from a dialectological method that adopts a “micro-viewpoint” on the detailed descriptions of a small number of speakers from each region. We hope that the present quantitative approach to the sociolinguistics of onomatopoeia will offer a new perspective on dialectology and on the effective utilization of onomatopoeia in the field of information science.

形式的手法の設計導入教育への適用の有用性を調べるために,大阪大学基礎工学部情報科学科3年次学生のCPU設計実験において,(i)我々の研究グループで作成した検証システムを用いて設計の正しさを形式的に証明する設計手法(新手法),(ii)慎重な見直しや波形シミュレーションなどで設計の正しさを確認する設計手法(従来手法),の2つのコースを設けて,その2つのコース間で作業時間と設計したCPUにおける誤りの有無について2カ年にわたって比較を行った.定められた中間レポート提出期限までに誤りのないCPUを設計した学生は,従来手法コースでは42人中0人,新手法コースでは42人中41人であった.従来手法コースでは提出期限後に,教官が誤りを指摘して学生が設計を修正する期間を設け,この期間に19人が誤りのないCPUを設計した.中間レポート提出期限までに費やした全作業時間の平均は新手法43時間に比べて従来手法のほうが13時間ほど短かった.以上より,あらかじめ定められた期限までに正しいCPUを設計するためには,新手法は30%ほど作業時間がかかるものの効果的であることが確かめられた.

本稿では、ガザーリーの神秘思想における性の重要性を検証し、特に神秘主義的宇宙論と性の議論との結びつきを明らかにする。ガザーリーの禁欲主義の議論にも触れながら、食欲と性欲を比較し、さらにマッキーとイブン・アラビーの議論とも比較して、スーフィズムの思想史におけるガザーリーの性の議論の独自性を検討する。まずマッキーの神秘主義的宇宙論は断片的であり、また禁欲的に性欲を抑えていく立場である。ガザーリーは、マッキーの宇宙論を体系化し、宇宙論において人間霊魂の上昇を説き、さらに性の持つ肯定的な力を認めた。そして性に対する考え方と神秘主義的宇宙論が一体となった結果、性欲は、神秘修行を中心とする神への崇拝に励む原動力になる、という思想を理論化することができた。存在一性論を説くイブン・アラビーにおいては、神と世界の一体性と重なる男女の性的結合が重視されている。ガザーリーは、性の肯定的な力を取り入れ、自らの神秘主義的宇宙論に適合する形の修行論を展開しているのである。

More than 50 specimens of the megamouth shark Megachasma pelagios have been reported so far, but biological observations on the species are still limited. We examined a female megamouth specimen that was captured by the bonito purse seine fishery in the Kuroshio Extension in July 2007 and donated to the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. The specimen was an immature female, 3,667 mm in total length and 361 kg in weight. The stomach contents measured 2,200 mL excluding the portion that was lost from the specimen before measurement. Detailed examination of a small part (14.6 mL) of the stomach contents revealed undamaged worm-like organisms, 10 partially damaged euphausiids and abundant fragmented pieces of euphausiids. The worm-like organisms were probably parasites such as tapeworms. The partially damaged euphausiids were identified as Euphausia pacifica except for one individual of Nematoscelis difficilis. Based on the number of fragmented right mandibles, which were less damaged than the other fragmented appendages, the total number of euphausiids in the stomach contents is estimated to be at least 18,000 individuals. The high abundance of euphausiids in the stomach contents suggests that the present specimen has fed on a swarm of E. pacifica in an oceanic area.

This paper investigates the causal effect of the majority party's seats share on public investment allocation, using prefectural data from 1981 to 1999. To take endogeneity into consideration, we use the amount of rainfall on election days as an instrumental variable. We show that the majority party has a positive impact on public investment allocation. More specifically, the majority party has positive impacts on "investment in agriculture, forestry, and fishery," investment in the conservation of national land share, and other investment, but has no impact on livelihood investment and industrial investment.

This paper presents visualization of transient sound propagation in 2-dimensional room sound fields in which the typical shapes of concert halls are modeled by applying the finite difference time domain method. As a basic study on room acoustic design, sound propagation in rooms, scattering effect of acoustic diffusers and reflection characteristics of suspended panel arrays are investigated. Through the investigation, it has been confirmed that this kind of visualization technique is very effective to get intuitive comprehension of complex acoustic phenomena which occur in rooms. The technique can be useful tool for discussion on room and acoustic treatment between acoustic engineers and architects.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common and devastating dementia. Simple and practical biomarkers for AD are urgently required for accurate diagnosis and to facilitate the development of disease-modifying interventions. The subjects for the study were selected on the basis of PiB amyloid imaging by PET. Forty PiB-positive (PiB+) individuals, including cognitively healthy controls (HC), and mild cognitive impairment and AD individuals, and 22 PiB-negative (PiB−) HC participated. Employing our novel highly sensitive immunoprecipitation-mass spectrometry, we measured plasma amyloid β-proteins (Aβs; Aβ1-40 and Aβ1-42) and Aβ-approximate peptides (AβAPs), which were cleaved from amyloid precursor protein (APP). Among the AβAPs, APP669-711 appeared to be a good reference for deciphering pathological change of Aβ1-42. We evaluated the performance of the ratio of APP669-711 to Aβ1-42 (APP669-711/Aβ1-42) as a biomarker. APP669-711/Aβ1-42 significantly increased in the PiB+ groups. The sensitivity and specificity to discriminate PiB+ individuals from PiB− individuals were 0.925 and 0.955, respectively. Our plasma biomarker precisely surrogates cerebral amyloid deposition.
