Related surveys were carried out in summer of 1992 and winter of 1993 on indoor climate, life style and energy consumption in residential buildings, which are located in eight city areas of different climatic conditions. Indoor temperature was measured in each living room for at least a week with originally designed automatic temperature recorders, and life style factors were investigated with questionnaires. In this paper, daily mean living temperatures of each region and it's regional differences are described, and the reasons of regional differences of living room temperature are discussed. The main results are as follows ; (1)Regional mean living room temperature in summer depends on mean outdoor temperature. (2)Mean living room temperatures of Sapporo in winter are higher than those of other 6 cities of Honshu and Kyushu district for about 2-4 ℃. It is suggested that these differences depend on life style.

The purpose of this research is evaluate the three-dimensional spatial structure of Shiodome area, the urban space which is being constructed through the Urban Renewal of Japanese Government. The analysis is done from the viewpoint of accessibility, contrasting the straight distance of a sight line which is lead by a basic behavior of transferring in the urban space with the actual distance of transferring. With this viewpoint, the urban space of Shiodome Area which is in the process of construction, and the existent neighboring urban space of Shinbashi Area is analyzed and compared. Through this method, the characteristics of each urban spaces are extracted and the accessibility within the urban space is evaluated. Theoretical model is also developed in terms of accessibility, so that the evaluation of actual urban spaces may be made by comparison with the theoretical model.

For newly built condominium supply, it is crucial to uncover characteristics of the potential buyers' behavior as "rules" or "patterns" from historical data. A new approach is applied to extract informative and unexpected rules or patterns from a database with relatively few transactions but a huge number of attributes using data mining methodology. For the val idity of the proposed method, the real data of 798 condominium purchasers in Tokyo metropolitan area are analyzed. Results include that if access time to the nearest railway station to be over 10 minutes, then "accessibility" as a resigned factor increases, which implies that potential accessibility in mind would be around 10 minutes on walk or within about 350 meters from nearest railway station.

This paper aims to establish a design system of the shading windows which achieve a balanced flows of visual information between the inside and the outside of a room. For this purpose, the relationship between the visibility level and the physical condition of the object seen through the shading of a window must be known. In this paper, the calculating method of the apparent luminance of a visual target seen through a lace curtain was established. In the calculating method, three optical properties of various race curtains, the rate of passage luminance, the property of transmission, and the property of reflection, are required. So these optical properties of five kinds of lace cloths which have different formal characteristics were measured.

In order to improve visual recognition of stairs in upward and downward motion, sensory test was carried out by 10 vision-impaired persons. The result shows that the appearance of finishing materials (for example, combinations, sizes, colors) have influence on visual recognition of stairs. The most influential element was the ratio of the brightness between border and tread. The second most influential element was the width of border at tread (in case of going down), and the width of border at tread and rise (in case of going up). We proposed a standard plan of stair elements for good visual recognition.

The energy consumption structures of the single-family houses were investigated by the questionnaire. The houses for the investiga- tion were the industrialized house built after 1985 and an insulated performance that adjusts to the Japanese building thermal insulation standard. The results of the secondary energy consumption of an average single family were 15.5MWh. In average, 40% of the total energy consumption in residential house was use for domestic hot water heating, 26% for space heating, 24% for house hold appliances, 9% for cooking, 4% for space cooling. The primary energy consumption of an average single family was 22.7MWh. The carbon dioxide discharge rate of an average single family is 1.95t.

A well-known heating facility in Japan, KOTATSU, heats the lower extremities of the human body by an infrared heater or wood coal fire in a box. The objective of this paper is to clarify the thermal effect of KOTATSU on the human thermal comfort quantitatively. Experiments were carried out under the following combined conditions: air temperatures were 1 1℃, 14℃, 17℃, and 20℃ and electric power of infrared lamp were to OW('off'), 87W('low'), 91W('middle') and 181W('high') electric consumption, respectively. Five male and six female subjects participated in those experiments. The following result was obtained: There was significant difference of comfort vote between female and male subjects when subjects reported hotter votes than thermal neutrality. The KOTATSU at 'low' and 'middle' IR heater level has the equivalent effect of 7℃ operative temperature rise at the condition of 11℃ air temperature, and that at 'high' IR heater level has the equivalent effect of 10℃ operative temperature rise at the same condition. Also the KOTATSU has more than 2℃ effectiveness at the condition of 14℃ air temperature even if the infrared lamp of the KOTATSU is turned off. Its effectiveness decrease gradually with increasing air temperature.

At first glance the Golden Ratio is not seen in the plan of Farnsworth House by Mies van der Rohe, but actually it is used there. The walls of the H -shape core including bathrooms devide the whole plan into four rectangles - living, dinning, kitchen and bedroom. Each ratio of a long side to a short side of the living, the dinning and the bathrooms is close to the Golden Ratio. And moreover there are close connections between the rectangles. These-facts show that there was a figure which consists of the Golden Rectangles to make the plan. So it is found that Mies intentionally used the Golden Ratio.

本論文はミース・ファン・デル・ローエが1930年代に行った住宅建築の設計案についてその設計過程を分析し、ミースの設計手法における特性を明らかにしようとする一連の研究のうち、ゲリッケ邸(1932年)の設計過程におけるスケッチを、CADを用いて三次元復元する新しい分析方法を試みつつ、設計方法と設計内容を解明しようとするものである。スケッチは鳥瞰図とアイレベル透視図に分類でき、CADを用いて軸測投象図と透視図として出力し、原透視図と比較した。設計過程は6段階に分類整理することができた。そこでは玄関、居間、庭の間の領域処理を通しての内外空間の融合といったミース独特の手法が的確に確認できた。また4つの透視図の分析を通して、水平に広がる広角の眺望を好んだこと、深い奥行方向の見通しを強調して表現すること、理想的な眺望を阻害する空間要素を省略して表現すること、視点位置を自由に設定して現実にはない眺望も描いていたこと、といった特徴を見出すことができた。以上のような特徴はこれまであまり扱われなかったミースの独特の設計手法を明らかにするものであり、またCADによる三次元データ化、透視図作成を通しての多様な画像作成と原透視図の詳細な比較分析を通して初めて明確化することができるものであって、本研究の研究方法上での成果である。

This article studies the formation of the purpose at Shimoshinjo-Sakuraen. A method of this article is interview to master of this Community-Cafe. This article clarified following things. The purpose of Shimoshinjo-Sakuraen is offering an opportunity of social contact to people. Participating in activity was thought to be important at this Community-Cafe at first. Now, Shimoshinjo-Sakuraen is the place where people can spend without participating in activity. This means various type of the social contact come to be permitted there and means the substance of the purpose has been formed through management of Shimoshinjo-Sakuraen.

Katsurano-miya household had three villas in Rakugai(a Kyoto suburb) except Katsura Villa, and had two palaces, called Imadegawa Palace and Ishiyakushi palace, in Rakucyu(kyoto city). This is the study on the Ocha-ya in the Iraadegawa Palace.The results are as follows. (1) There were six Ocha-ya in Imadegawa Palace when Prince Yakahito lived in that palace. They were called Sekio, Unsetsu, Kairaku, Undai, Sakuyu and Machibito. They all had existed in 1758. (2) Sekio was build in 1727 at latest. This Ocha-ya was revered an anceptor, and was attached Futaba-tei tea celemony room which was the imitation of Shokin-tei tea celemony room in the Katsura Villa. (3) Compared with the Ocha-ya in Imadegawa Palace and those in the villas in Rakugai.they had something in common. Build on a height with a fine view, commanded a enjoyable scenery of rice field, and setting the space of revering an anceptor insaide. And so on.

This study makes clear the effects of floor square and ceiling height on the sense of volume and impression of interior-space. Subjects experienced the experimental space (wider floor square and lower ceiling height), and experienced the compared space (the same volume of the experimental space, smaller floor square and higher ceiling height), and answered the sense of volume and which space was felt yuttari^*. The results were summarized as follows: 1) The volume of the space of high ceiling height was felt bigger than that of the space of wide square. 2) The results of the feeling of yuttari showed three tendencies. A) The feeling of yuttari was not felt in the space of lower ceiling height (under 2100mm). B) If the difference in floor square of two spaces was 30% or smaller, the feeling of yuttari was felt in the space of bigger volume. C) If the difference in floor square is bigger, the feeling of yuttari was felt in the space of wider floor square. *The Japanese word "yuttari" includes loose, spacious and feeling of easy.

This paper shows the concept, method and assessing indexes to draw up a guideline for public facilities management on a self-governing body. The method and assessing indexes are required by analysis of life cycle costs of public toll facilities for daily life in SETAGAYA-KU, Tokyo. The issues of public facilities management and the method seizing the managing characteristics and position are clarified by analysis of life cycle costs, service costs, working expenses and beneficiary share rate.

This paper aimed to analyze the distribution of the existing total floorage of business use in Tokyo wards based on CIS building data and square grid system. It is difficult to acquire the complete and broad-based total floorage data of business use. To this end, we estimated alternatively the existing total floorage of business use by the 1/4 national standard grid square spaces using building polygon data of Tokyo Metropolitan Government City Planning Map System. We analyzed the characteristic of distributions of the business use buildings in Tokyo wards with the rate of buildings by total floorage ranges. In order to avoid the uncertainty in the number of samples using a small contributional block, we decided the optimum grid size based on Akaike Information Criterion.

Urasoe Yodore is known as the oldest imperial mausoleum of the Ryukyu Dynasty. The mausoleum has two tombs, "King Shonei's tomb" and "King Eiso's tomb". There are stone coffins, sculptured in the form of buildings. From analysis of the architectural sculpture on the stone coffins, they can be dated to around the Kamakura period. The coffins are sculptured in the form of the interior of a hall of Buddhist stupa or temple. The construction of Urasoe Yodore is divided into 3 periods. Architectural characteristics appeared on the coffins show influences from China, Korea and Japan.

The purpose of this study is to understand the method of extracting and describing local image from travel essay series "KAIDOU WO YUKU". In Conclusion, as the extracting method, 4 new elements is took into "local element" for local image object. Those elements are available not in travel essay, but in ordinary situation to produce local image. As the describing method, there are 6types method - "sensation", "emotion", "sentiment" ("comparison", "suitableness", "collation", "derivation"). There are mainly 2types context of local image. One is "sensation" and "emotion" about local landscape. Another is "collation" and "derivation" with adopting "history", "inhabitant" and "locality".

The purpose of this study is one of the studies to clarify the visibility of the pedestrian. The experiment was conditioned out on the straight road at night. The visual recognition objects are lighting bicycle and turning-off one, and the human dressed white and black. The analysis item is a visual recognition distance and position. Experimental results are as follows, (1) The lighting bicycle can be recognized 100m ahead. (2) The visual recognition distance of white dressed is 1.5-2.0 times as long as black dressed. (3) When the bicycle outstrips the pedestrian, the visual recognition distance of white dressed is 1.2 times as long as black dressed. (4) The light of the street light is effective to improve the visibility.

With regard to residential flooring products, which has been researched and developed particularly considering improvement of floor impact sound insulation performance in various ways. However, it has become a problem that wooden flooring materials, which is very often used recently, is too soft that impairs a foot step feeling. Judging from those habitabilitv of floors used under residential condition, the flooring materials which possesses proper elasticity, is required. As a measure for the present, flooring materials must be tried to develop considering relationship between human sense, floor vibration response and floor impact sound insulation performance and those needs to be evaluated synthetically. In this paper, we made the experiment on impact force time characteristics of a sole by foot stepping on a floor, which should become important parameter when relation of hardness of floor and sense quantity is examined.
