By means of noisy galvanic vestibular stimulation (GVS), it might be possible to ameliorate the blunted responsiveness of degenerated neuronal circuits in patients with degenerative neurological diseases. We evaluated the effects of 24-hour noisy GVS on the long-term heart rate dynamics in patients with multiple system atrophy and on the daytime trunk activity dynamics in patients with either levodopa-responsive Parkinson's disease or levodopa-unresponsive parkinsonism patients. Patients were also examined for cognitive performance by means of a continuous performance test. Short-range or high-frequency fluctuations of the heart rate were significantly increased by the noisy GVS as compared with that by sham stimulation, suggestive of improved autonomic, especially parasympathetic, responsiveness. The long-range anti-persistency of trunk activity patterns probed by an autocorrelation measure was significantly increased by the noisy GVS, suggestive of quickening of bradykinesic rest-to-active transitions. The mean reaction time in the continuous performance test was also significantly decreased by the noisy GVS, without significant changes in either the omission or commission error ratios, which is suggestive of improved motor execution during the cognitive task. Thus, noisy GVS improved the motor and autonomic responsiveness and is effective for ameliorating the symptoms in patients with multiple system atrophy or Parkinson's disease.

インターネットのビジネス利用が進むなかで,電子署名技術の重要性が高まっている.電子署名技術は,あるエンティティの電子署名を生成できるのが署名生成鍵を知っている本人だけであるという仮定に基づいている.しかし,署名生成鍵の物理的な盗難や暗号解読技術の進展などといったさまざまな要因によってこのような仮定が成り立たなくなる恐れもある(我々はこれを暗号ブレイクと呼ぶ).そのような環境下では,不正者は他エンティティの電子署名を容易に偽造することが可能となるため,電子署名技術に期待される相手確認機能や改ざん検知機能が適正に働かなくなってしまう.このような課題に対し,従来よりいくつかの対策技術が提案されているが,それらは我々が想定する暗号ブレイクのすべてをカバーするものではない.そこで,我々は,暗号ブレイクに対処可能な「電子署名アリバイ実現機構」を提案する.本電子署名アリバイ実現機構を利用することにより,各エンティティは,自分が生成した覚えのない電子署名付きメッセージを提示された場合においても,当該電子署名付きメッセージを生成していないこと,すなわち「電子署名アリバイ」を調停者などに証明することができる.本稿では,電子署名アリバイ実現機構の基本的な考え方を示すとともに,その証拠性を高めるために我々が採用した「ヒステリシス署名」と「履歴交差」と呼ぶ2つのコンセプト,ならびにその具体的な実現例について述べる.

Aim: So far, the mechanisms behind the cardiovascular benefits of sodium/glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors have not been fully clarified. Methods: In order to evaluate the effects of SGLT2 inhibitors on systemic hemodynamics, glucose metabolism, lipid profile, and endothelial function, 50 diabetic patients with established coronary artery disease (CAD) were included in this analysis and were given empagliflozin 10 mg/d. Cookie meal testing (carbohydrates: 75 g, fats: 28.5 g), endothelial function testing using flow-mediated dilatation (FMD), and body composition evaluation were performed before and after six months of treatment. Changes in %FMD between the treatment periods and its association with metabolic biomarkers were evaluated. Results: After six months of treatment, the body weight and body fat percentage decreased significantly, while the body muscle percentage increased significantly. The hemoglobin A1c level and fasting and postprandial plasma glucose levels were significantly decreased with treatment. Postprandial insulin secretion was also significantly suppressed and the insulin resistance index was significantly decreased. Furthermore, the fasting and postprandial triglyceride (TG) levels decreased significantly, while total ketone bodies increased significantly after the six-month treatment. While the plasma brain natriuretic peptide level was not changed, the C-reactive protein level was decreased and FMD was significantly improved after the six-month treatment. Multiple regression analysis showed that the strongest predictive factor of FMD improvement is change in the plasma TG levels. Conclusion: SGLT2 inhibitors improve multiple metabolic parameters. Of these, a reduction in plasma TGs was strongly associated with endothelial function recovery in diabetic patients with CAD, and this reduction may be related to the cardiovascular benefits of SGLT2 inhibitors.

This paper clarifies the functions of the United States Marine Corps’ Promotion system for the officers and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Promotion system for the officers through two main factors. The first factor is education, the Military Professional Education (PME) at the Marine Corps University, colleges, and schools that allow the marine officers to be promoted to the next higher rank by learning the military professional subjects required for officers to carry out their missions at higher positions. Second, the acquisition of the master’s degrees at the Military universities and colleges is essential for the promotion of marine officers to a higher rank of Major and Lieutenant Colonel. The JGSDF has no higher education system as the US Marine Corps (USMC). However, it has a non-academic degree-oriented career path through the definite military education system. The comparison between the USMC and JGSDF clarifies the reason such a traditional Japanese education system makes a difference to officers and clues why the JGSDF officers are such educated skillful soldiers, even if they have no academic degrees.

現代世界が経験している激動は、人類学者のフィールドとそのフィールドで暮らしている人々に直接的な影響を与えている。内戦と殺戮、開発と環境破壊、移民と排除、貧困と感染症の蔓延、といった「問題」は、たんなるローカルな「問題」にとどまらず、グローバルな依存関係のなかで「地続き」に現象する。また人類学者自身が、暴力的衝突や内戦に巻き込まれたり、環境破壊や大規模開発、あるいは環境保全や開発反対運動に関わったりすることは、今やフィールドの日常となりつつある。こうした状況に直面した人類学は、これまでのフィールドにおける中立性と客観性を(建前上)強調する立場から、対象への関与と価値判断を積極的に承認する立場へと移行していくことになる。現代人類学は「人権尊重」「地球環境保全」「民主的統治」などをグローバル化時代の普遍的価値基準として承認し、異文化への介入を試みてきた。だがこのような普遍主義的傾向の肥大化は、さまざまな疑問や反作用を生み出している。その核心は、フィールドへの「関与」「介入」を正当化する論理の根本は何かという問題だろう。本論は、この「普遍主義」の勃興の様相を明らかにした上で、それがもつ必然性と危険性を検討し、相対主義的な世界と新たに登場した普遍主義的な世界認識をこれからの人類学はどのように位置づけ関係させるかについて考察を試みる。ただしその試みは、普遍主義的思考を拒否して、相対主義を復活させるという単純なものでも、その逆に相対主義的思考を放逐し普遍主義的価値基準を学的核心にしようというものでもない。本論文の目的は、この二つの世界認識を現代人類学はいかにして接合し、錯綜する現実に対処する方向性を定めるのかについて日常人類学の生活論に基づいた一つの回答を提出することにある。

調音観測装置のひとつに, 細いX線ビームにより調音器官の表面に接着した金属球を追跡しその位置を記録するX線マイクロビーム装置がある.この装置を用いて記録した日本語と米語の発話資料に基づき歯茎音にみられる調音の変異を比較した. [t] や [s] などの歯茎音の調音には舌尖型 (apical) と舌端型 (laminal) のタイプがあるといわれる.この相違は発音の個人差であるが, [t] の場合に舌尖型をEnglish [t] , 舌端型をFrench [t] と呼ぶ区別もあり, 言語差としてもみられるという.このような調音の亜型が, 日本語と米語の間に存在するか否か, そのような変異の要因は何かを検討した.
