『源氏物語』五十四帖中、浮舟は、手習巻で出家する。手習巻の自然描写は、浮舟の内面と関連し、『伊勢物語』八十二段と八十三段を受容している。紫式部は、『伊勢物語』の描写によって、聖と俗の境、人物の内面を描写している。

Among the patients visiting our clinic complaining of gonalgia, those who had pain around the patella, compression pain of the patella, but no other symptoms, exhibited hamstring tightness.We had them do hamstring stretching exercises, and followed the changes in the gonalgia and hamstring tightness.To examine the hamstring tightness, the angle of knee flexion was measured with a goinometer after passive knee extension with the hip flexed to 90 degree.In 10 cases involving 13 joints, pain around the patella or compression pain of the patella was relieved with the decrease in the hamstring tightness following the stretching exercises.

米国麻酔科学会は,2002年に「非麻酔科医のための鎮静・鎮痛薬投与に関する診療ガイドライン(ASA-SED)」を改訂した.ASA-SEDは鎮静を,反応性や呼吸・循環状態によって,軽い鎮静から,中等度鎮静,深い鎮静,全身麻酔までの連続した4段階に定義した.ガイドラインは下記の6点,すなわち,(1)術前患者評価:術前合併症,気道評価,絶飲食時間の設定,(2)患者モニタリング:酸素化のモニタリング,呼名に対する反応評価,心電図,カプノグラム,(3)鎮静担当者の確保とその訓練:鎮静担当者の集中と一次救命処置,二次救命処置等の緊急時対応,(4)緊急用機材の準備と薬剤投与:蘇生用薬剤,陽圧換気・気道管理器具,静脈路確保,(5)薬剤投与方法の原則:鎮静薬と鎮痛薬の相互作用,拮抗薬の準備,用量滴定,(6)回復期のケア:退室基準・退院基準策定の重要性,を強調している.さらに,ASA-SEDは一貫して鎮静が目標レベルより深くなった場合の準備と対応が必須であるとしている.

The effect of saline cathartics magnesium sulphate, sodium sulphate, and sodium citrate on adsorptive capacity of activated charcoal (AC) was investigated in vitro. Solutions of artesunate alone and artesunate with 7.5 mg/ml cathartics solution were vortex mixed for 30 sec with different quantities of AC, incubated in water bath shaker for 30 min at 37°C and analysed for free artesunate spectrophotometrically at 328 nm. Addition of the cathartics caused a significant increase (p < 0.05) in the adsorption of artesunate to activated charcoal. The descending order of increased adsorption by the cathartics is magnesium sulphate, sodium citrate and sodium sulphate.

In olfactory receptor cells, it is well established that cAMP acts as a main second messenger during odor responses. Biochemical experiments, however, showed failure of accumulation of cAMP in olfactory cilia by odorants of 40% examined (Sklar et al., 1996). We have shown that application of water soluble odorants and volatile odorants induced inward currents in olfactory cells of the Xenopus water nose but dialysis with cAMP did not (Iida and Kashiwayanagi, 1999). Breer and Boekhoff showed that odorants, which did not induce cAMP accumulation in olfactory cilia, induced IP3 accumulation (1990). Dialysis of olfactory cells in Xenopus water nose with IP3 induced inward currents. In addition, the turtle olfactory cells responded to dialysis with cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR) with an inward current (Sekimoto and Kashiwayanagi, 2003). The magnitudes of the inward current responses to cAMP-increasing odorants were greatly reduced by prior dialyses of a high concentration of cADPR or 8-Br-cADPR, an antagonist. It is possible that IP3 and cADPR play as second messengers during the olfactory transduction. At present, channel molecules which are activated by these second messenger candidates have not been identified in olfactory cells. Transient receptor potential (TRP) channels, which are expressed in many tissues and cell types in vertebrates, are activated by various stimulations. 核酸増幅法の1つであるTMA(transcription mediated amplification)法は,1細胞に1個のDNAの遺伝子よりも数千コピー存在するリボソームRNAの遺伝子をターゲットにすることにより,感度を必要とする感染症などの検出系において開発,実用化されたRNA増幅法である.現在では,このTMA法は,DNA依存性DNA合成酵素活性を持つ逆転写酵素とRNAポリメラーゼを利用することにより,DNAをターゲットとしたRNA増幅法として改良が加えられ,HLAクラスⅡ遺伝子のタイピングに応用されている.白血球より抽出したDNAは相補的水素結合で二本鎖を形成しているが,熱変性により一本鎖DNAにする.次に温度を下げ,プロモータープライマーとアニーリング後,DNA依存性DNA合成酵素活性を持つ逆転写酵素を加え,プライマー伸長反応による二本鎖DNAを合成する.再び熱変性を行い,温度を下げ,第2プライマーのアニーリング後,さらに逆転写酵素とRNAポリメラーゼにより第1プライマーの配列が導入された二本鎖DNAが産生され,この二本鎖DNAを鋳型にしてRNAポリメラーゼが働き,最終産物として相補的な一本鎖RNAが多量に合成される.

Congenital disorders of glycosylation (CDG), an increasingly recognized group of diseases that affect glycosylation, comprise the largest known subgroup of approximately 100 responsible genes related to N-glycosylation. This subgroup presents various molecular abnormalities, of either the CDG-I or the CDG-II type, attributable to a lack of glycans or abnormal glycoform profiles, respectively. The most effective approach to identifying these N-glycosylation disorders is mass spectrometry (MS) using either released glycans, intact glycoproteins or proteolytic peptides as analytes. Among these, MS of tryptic peptides derived from transferrin can be used to reliably identify signature peptides that are characteristic of CDG-I and II. In the present study, matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) MS was applied to various N-glycosylation disorders including ALG1-CDG, B4GALT1-CDG, SLC35A2-CDG, ATP6V0A2-CDG, TRAPPC11-CDG and MAN1B1-CDG. This method does not require the prior enrichment of glycopeptides or chromatographic separation, and thus serves as a practical alternative to liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization MS. The signature peptides are biomarkers of CDG.

Protein phosphorylation mediated by protein kinases is one of the most significant posttranslational modifications in many biological events. The function and physiological substrates of specific protein kinases, which are highly associated with known signal transduction elements or therapeutic targets, have been extensively studied using various approaches; however, most protein kinases have not yet been characterized. In recent decades, many techniques have been developed for the identification of in vitro and physiological substrates of protein kinases. In this review, I summarize recent studies profiling the characteristics of kinases using mass spectrometry-based proteomics, focusing on the large-scale identification of in vitro substrates of the human kinome using a quantitative phosphoproteomics approach.

なぜ先生は「私」に遺書を送ったのか。「私」は手紙の齟齬から、父危篤の時を選んで、「私」に自らの死を告げる遺書を送った先生の仕掛けに気付いていく。それは遺書の読み手たり得ない「私」に「先生」と類似の<罪>(父を裏切る)を体験させることで「私」の成長を促そうとしたものであった。遺書の読み手たるにはそれを体験することが要求された。ここに先生の<血>を浴びせかけられた「私」との対比で、<純白>に保たれた妻への愛を読み取ることが出来るのである。

We have implemented a simple model of puns in a program (BOKE) which generates puns in Japanese, using linguistic information from a general-purpose lexicon. Our rough evaluation indicates that the puns generated by the program are of comparable quality to those generated by humans. BOKE differs from an earlier English-language system (JAPE) only in the lexicon and the templates used to generate the surface text-the punning mechanisms are the same. This suggests that our model of puns is language independent.

英文速読訓練により英語リスニングスコアが向上する学習者にはどのような特性があるのか検討した.分析1では英文速読訓練を行った群が統制群よりも英語リスニングスコアが伸びることを確認した.分析2では,速読訓練前のディクテーションスコアの高低でリスニングスコアの伸びを比較した.その結果,速読訓練前の時点でディクテーションスキルが高かった学習者も低かった学習者も,訓練後に継時処理課題のスコアが伸びていた.しかし,訓練前の時点でディクテーションスキルが高い学習者の方が,低い学習者よりもポストテストにおけるリスニングスコアが高かった.このことから,訓練前の時点で既にディクテーションスキルが高い学習者の方が,英文速読訓練により継時処理スキルが向上した場合に,リスニングスコアが高くなることが明らかになった.

特異点判定法を用いた研究として,以下のテーマを扱った.(1)曲面の射影微分幾何における局所理論(ダルブー・ヴィルチンスキ)の復興とその応用を目指し,特異点論の手法による研究を進展させた.(2)幾何的代数と特異点論を用いて線織面や線叢などに現れる特異点の微分直線幾何を発展させ,応用幾何学における新しい可能性を示唆した.(3)射影空間内の曲線および曲面に係る古典的数え上げ幾何を整理して,ヴィジョン理論への特性類理論からの新しいアプローチを提案した.(4)判定法の基礎付けとして,判別集合(自由因子)の対数的微分加群とA-接空間の関係について考察した.
