This paper briefly reviews some works on reproductive physiology in cetaceans with special reference to dolphins from the following aspects: estrous cycle in female dolphins, hormonal profiles during pregnancy, testosterone levels and seasonality in testicular activity, ovulation induction and sperm collection and freezing.

In this study, a virtual sound production system is developed where the difference frequency component appears as the secondary audible sound at a point of interference locally by the nonlinear interaction of two independently radiated ultrasounds while they travel directionally and intersect each other. The design of high-directive ultrasonic radiator, followed by the investigation of virtual sound production performance has been done theoretically as well as experimentally. It is known from these investigations that the fairly local sound reproduction in free space is possible, yet the sound pressure level of the secondary field is small. The results have also shown that the generated virtual sound area is dependent on both the difference frequency and the intersection angle of two carrier waves emitted by two sound sources. © 2012 The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.

我が国の近代水道は明治 20 (1887 )年横浜で初めて創設され、その後、全国で創設・普及していく。本稿は、創設期の近代水道がどような背景で整備され、その財源を日本経済そのもが未熟であった当時にどのように確保し、ま水道経営を維持させてきかを、明治20年から大正3年に整備された近代水道施設を対象にして整理・考察したものである。そして、近代水道整備事業の財源70% 以上が地方債を占め、そのおよそ半分が外資であったこと、また水道料金の適切な設定などによる水道経営を行うことにより地方債の元利償還を図り、水道を経営的に破綻させることなく、常に安全な水を供給できる水道として維持させきた、という史実を明らかにした。

ソフトウェアプロセスの適切なモデル化は,開発のフレームワークを提供するとともに,継続的なプロセス改善のベースラインを提供する意味においても重要な課題である.しかし,従来のプロセスのモデルは,変化を続ける現実の開発活動を適切にモデル化することが困難なために,当初定義したプロセスモデルが利用されず形骸化してしまう問題が起こっていた.そこで我々は,継続的なプロセス改善への適用に有効なプロセスモデルとして,成果物間の関連に着目したプロセスのモデル化方法「PReP(Product Relationship Process)」モデルを開発した.実際の開発プロジェクトに適用した結果,PRePモデルは,現実の開発活動のモデル化,理解の容易性,モデル化の柔軟性,そして再利用性にすぐれていることを確認した.PRePモデルを使用することにより,開発活動の実行とプロセスの継続的改善に効果的に利用できるプロセスモデルを定義することができる.

This article examines how to use three Haikus in “Gokumon-tou(Gokumon Island)”, one of Yokomizo Seishi’s mystery novels. In this mystery, a detective, Kindaichi Kosuke finds the truth of the serial murders. In those cases, each of the victims are compared to Haiku. For example, Yukie, she is the middle of three sisters, is compared to Basho’s Haiku “Muzan yana Kabuto no Shita no Kirigirisu (How pitiful! Under a soldier’s empty helmet, a cricket sings)”. Specifically, Yukie is compared to an old cricket related to white color because Basho’s cricket is compared to an old soldier. Then, a big temple bell is compared to a soldier’s helmet. What is this criminal doing? The criminal rediscovers the beauty of Haiku. In other words, the criminal plays with Mitate. As I have explained, Mitate is a kind of comparison, and in this paper I solve three mysteries with Kindaichi, and clarify the motive for crime. As a whole, this thesis offers a close reading “Gokumon-tou” focusing on three Haikus and the role of characters. In addition, I show the position of “Gokomon-tou” in the Japanese mystery or Japanese modern literature containing Haiku. “Gokomon-tou” is groundbreaking in these special tricks using Haiku. After this novel we find a lot of mystery writers using Haiku. Especially, Matsumoto Seicho utilize Haiku as a trick or the key to solving the mystery. Seicho knows the characteristics of modern Haiku in comparison with Seishi. He use the characteristics, namely Shasei(sketching)theory, going to famous sightseeing spots, literary coterie magazines, Haiku gathering and so on, in his novels. Then, Yokomitsu Riichi who is a contemporary of Seishi connects Basho’s Haiku and Japanese fate. In contract, Seishi’s Basho is released from the oppression. Seishi makes free use of Basho’s Haiku, and accordingly “Gokumon-tou” becomes a watershed of Basho’s Haiku for use in novels.

In research field, the systematics of angiosperm is changing from new Engler system which is mainly based on morphology of plant to APG III・IV system which is mainly based on DNA sequences. Illustrated books published most recently and that on the website almost are based on APG III・IV system. We found new Engler system still in the textbooks and the guideline for education in a junior high school. In such circumstances, junior high school student doubt which system is true. In this paper, new educational subjects based on APG III・IV system are also proposed, in which includes observation of the coplate (key feature) in angiosperm. 被子植物の分類は,形態に基づく従来の新エングラー体系から,DNA の塩基配列に基づくAPGIII・IV 体系へと移行しつつあり,最新の図鑑やインターネット図鑑は後者に準拠している。本研究で中学校理科の教科書における植物に関する記載を調べた結果,依然,新エングラー体系に基づいて記載されていることが判明した。また,中学校理科の指導内容も新エングラー体系に沿っていた。このような現状では,中学生が新しい分類体系に触れると混乱が起こる可能性が高いと考え,本研究ではAPGIII・IV 体系に基づいた新規の授業も開発した。開発した新規授業は,APGIII・IV 体系の被子植物の分類で,要となっている花粉の溝の観察を行うことが特徴である。
