2001年9月11日、ニューヨーク、ワールド・トレードセンターに対するテロ攻撃に端を発したアフガン、イラク戦争は〈非対称の戦争〉と呼ばれる。そして、その〈非対称の戦争〉、即ち国家の枠組みを超えたテロ活動に対しての伝統的な国家による〈戦争〉は、あきらかにその限界を露呈している。暴力連鎖の世界状況の中で20世紀型〈国家〉も、その国家による〈戦争〉も根源的な思想的挑戦を受けている。これは、とりもなおさず、その20世紀型国家が依拠する政治思想もまた挑戦を受けているということである。 政治と政治思想のブレーク・スルーが待ち望まれる中で、ガンジーの平和思想と憲法第9条の持つ政治思想的意味を考えるひとつとの営みとして本稿は書かれている。 本稿ではまず筆者の問題意識について述べ、続いて元津田塾大学教授ダグラス・ラミス氏の手になる『ガンジーの危険な平和憲法案』について検討する。さらに20世紀型国家、すなわち「普通の国家」とはなにかについてのひとつの典型的な議論を紹介し、現下の世界情勢と「普通の国家」との相克について論じる。

This paper describes the development and the wind tunnel test of a variable geometry morphing airfoil using corrugated structures. Feasibility of a morphing wing with corrugated flexible seamless flap-like structure is verified by the finite element analysis, and a prototype is manufactured using carbon fiber reinforced plastics. For the actuation system, two servomotors are installed inside the prototype wing to control the airfoil shape by the chord-wise tension of the connected wires. Successful actuation of the prototype wing is demonstrated under the air speed up to 30m/s in the wind tunnel test. Basic aerodynamic properties are also evaluated in comparison to traditional airfoil with a hinged control surface. Lift increase of variable corrugated wing is recognized when the flap angle increases.

Defined daily dose (DDD)を用いた抗菌薬使用量の集計はWHOが推奨する方法である.しかしながら,DDDによる集計は総使用量の集計であるため,使用動向の解釈には限界がある.我々は,欧米にて評価が高まりつつあるdays of therapy (DOT)によって当院の2005年1月から2013年6月の注射用抗菌薬の使用量を集計した.セフタジジムはDDD法,DOT法による集計値ともに年々有意に減少したが,DDD/DOT比は変化なかったことから,使用日数もしくは使用人数の減少によって総使用量が減少したと判定できた.メロペネムはDDD法による集計値,およびDDD/DOT比は有意に増加したがDOT法による集計値は有意に変化しなかったことから,1日用量の増加によって総使用量が増加したと判定できた.一方,テイコプラニンはDDD法による集計値は変化なく,DOT法による集計値の有意な減少,DDD/DOT比の有意な増加が見られたことから,1日用量が増加したが使用日数または使用人数の減少により総使用量は変化していないと判定された.以上の結果から,DDD法とDOT法を使用することにより,抗菌薬使用動向をより詳細に分析でき,今後の抗菌薬適正使用の一助となると考えられた.

In this article, the potential of “practicable science, ” which is the new trend in Japanese politics in the 21st century, is being discussed and examined, focusing on a series of researches on Japan's political reforms.There have been two major trends or academic tendencies in the discussions of the political reforms. One is the attitude of political researchers who express strong criticism on political practices and propose actual policies actively participating in decision making processes. The other is the trend where certain distance is kept from actual political practices but they clarify the political actors' behavior at micro level, the changes of political phenomena, and the consequences through an empirical analysis. Both trends spread rapidly during the period.The new wave of Japanese political science research in the 21st century will bridge these two trends and respond to the proposition of “practicable science.” Policy proposals, empirical analysis, and normative discussions represented in public philosophy need to share functions and cooperate consciously while complementing each other without excluding others. It will be indispensable in establishing “practicable science, ” the new trend in Japan's political science research.

ニコチンの呼吸作用殊にその惹起する無呼吸の機序を検討し, 次の様な結果を得た. ニコチン靜注後に来る一過性初期無呼吸は犬, 猫では呼息性, 兎では吸息性で, 肺から発して迷走神経中を上行する反射による. 二回目の長い無呼吸は呼息性で, 従来謂われた様な先行する過呼吸の代償ではなく, ニコチンの中枢作用に基ずくものと思われる. ニコチンの反覆投与による呼吸反応の減退は, 少くも一部は中枢乃至上行性経路の興奮性変化により, 従来の如くニコチンのクラーレ様末梢作用のみでは説明しきれない. 大量のニコチンによる呼吸停止は, 中枢麻痺によるものではなく, 筋神経接合部のブロツクによる. 上述のエコチンの諸呼吸作用--初期無呼吸一過性呼吸興奮, 第二無呼吸, 更に大量のニコチンによる筋神経接合部麻痺-これらは皆ヘキサメトニウムによつて拮抗消失される。

This paper deals with analytical and experimental study on hydraulically-operated valve gears in the Diesel engine. The authors worked out a system to drive valve gears hydraulically instead of mechanically. The calculation of the valve lift was made through the Characteristic Method, and the results were compared with the results of experimental investigation. Both results approximately coincided with each other. They indicated that hydraulically-operated valve gears were applicable to the Diesel engine. Hydraulically-operated valve gears were improved and tested in a practical Diesel engine. As a results, the engine performance became more efficient by use of hydraulically-operated valve gears.
